I guess I'll just support Gaspard and see if Cassandra gets it. Already sided with the mages, so I think my game is probably leaning towards Leliana at the moment. :/

Y'know...I'm all for choices and consequences and all that...but I prefer it when I know which choices are giving me which consequences. :/

When you sided with the templars, did you offer them a full alliance, or conscript them?

 

When you say you rolled being a believer, I take it you basically supported the chantry throughout the game?

 

Also, did you support anyone for the divine role? Either through dialogue with leliana/cassandra or through an operation at the war table?

It may or may not, but I think the choice of conscription vs free is a bigger one, as well as the dialogue choices regarding your opinions on the chantry. (reform, do without, status quo) Would be really good if we can get a bioware developer to clear some of this up. The game is very long to trial and error this, and the guides do not go into much detail.

 

 

Spoiler tags directed towards ITIATT since this was at the end of the last page. Currently I am compiling lists from the information I am receiving, so if you guys wouldn't mind keep track of things like:

 

Who did you side with mages/templars and under what condition. 

 

When speaking to companions regarding chantry, how did you respond? (i.e. Dorian, Vivienne)

 

How did you treat the chantry ambassador who inquires about the next divine?

 

Did you do any of the war table operations to support a divine candidate?

 

Did you support a divine candidate through dialogue with them?

 

Who did you side with on the civil war?

 

Encouraged Leliana to kill traitor in Haven, thus hardening her or told her not to kill him?

 

 

These seem to be some of the factors into the final outcome.

I do not know to be honest, that is why I included it to see if it does factor in. It seems like it would. I updated the main post of the thread here with 3 playthroughs so far, 2 of them with Cassandra, 1 with Leliana. They show some detailed information regarding choices, but going forward will need to follow the outline I posted at the bottom of the post for maximum clarity. We need to be able to cross reference detailed accounts of the playthroughs regarding those questions. 

 

Snook, please keep us updated as to how your playthrough turns out. Would be good to throw it in the pile.

I agree, thats why I'm trying to get more people to post information but even so it seems that we need to know definitely which decisions factor before we can precisely narrow it down. I sent a PM to a bioware employee here, hopefully he sees it and responds. Would be good to get a clear picture of what affects the outcome. The guides just don't seem to be helping, so all we have at the moment is lists that we can compile and cross reference. If anyone here has a twitter and can tweet one of the developers asking about which choices influence the outcome, that would be beneficial as well.

I wish I could change Leliana's attitude more than anything.. whether it affects her candidacy or not.

 

I don't actually disagree that she should deal harshly with traitors, but I care more about where it's taking her.. soul, if you will. The look on her face if you actually agree with her disturbed me.

 

"I tried to be merciful!" -- What happened to that Leliana? She hasn't grown up. She's gotten even more immature and worldly. I might as well elect Zevran as Divine. Wouldn't be any different.

From my understanding, you can change her. If you tell her to kill the traitor at Haven, she cites that as a reason for killing a cleric in her personal mission.(if you tell her not to kill the cleric, but let her live.) Talking to her afterwards, she mentions that she feels it is necessary to be that way 100% in order to get things done. 

 

So I'm assuming that if you tell her not to kill the traitor at haven, it will lead to her not killing the cleric and arriving at the opposite conclusion of the above. I told her not to kill the traitor in my current playthrough, and it seems her attitude is a little different. Haven't reached that quest of hers yet, but I will definitely let you know if it does affect her attitude/outlook as I suspect it will

Mother giselle talking to Cassandra about becoming the next divine? She's trying to convince her, and upon leaving asks the inquisitor to talk to her. A member in the spoilers forum mentioned in a post that Mother Giselle said Leliana would be the next divine, I don't recall that happening in my playthrough, only the former. This may be an early indication of who it becomes. So if you are hoping to get Cassandra, and get this cutscene, you may get what you want. Be on the lookout.

That may be an indicator, be sure to talk to Cassandra and see if that scene comes up through your playthrough. I can't recall precisely when it happened unfortunately, but definitely somewhere around the middle/towards the end or so I think. I'm curious if there is a version for Leliana too, or if that scene even plays should Cassandra not be chosen.

That would truly suck if this is the case. 

 

This is going to sound silly and kind of unrelated, but she kind of reminds me of someone I tried to have a long distance relationship with. It brings up bad feelings when I think about it. I don't want to reminded in a game.

Sorry to hear. I'm only speculating at this point though, it could very well not be the case. If people say they have romanced Cassandra and she isn't the divine then there isn't anything to worry about. Though I couldn't fault the developers for going this route, as basically every female romance has a tragic end to it. (Thane from ME, Cullen dying/and or going insane from lyrium withdrawal. Solas ending spoilers, Blackwall apparently one night standing and getting out of town.) As more people finish the game, hopefully we will find this out.

Thanks. I've actually dropped from playing the game for the past couple of days, because I was thinking about it too much. Need to relax. There's more to it than that, of course.. but it's funny how a game could play on old emotions.

 

I don't understand why they think they need to teach people a "lesson" on these things. They're all making 6 figures a year or more, having a dream job, loved by millions, while some of their fans already have un-ideal lives as it is. Do we really need more shittyness when searching for escape?

 

lol.. Just saying. I can't but help but see a little malice when they say like live off of "fan tears".

I think it's because the characters are so well written it can feel real at times. A testament to their dedication to making realistic characters. While I would agree with you, I think they do it because they want it to feel more real world. Not every relationship in real life works out. Though 1-2 should be enough, it certainly isn't fair that the female options are almost always tragic. Josephine seems to be the only one that without a doubt has a good ending. You may want to give her romance arc a go.

Maybe one day, if I plan on playing a second time. She's very charming, but I'm not all that interested in her in that respect.

 

It's true not everything works out. But they overdo it. Like that's a rule for realism or something. My parents just celebrated their 41st anniversary, for example. That kind of stuff gives me hope. If not for myself, just the world in general.

 

I agree, they do tend to overdo it. Hopefully though not in this case.
