How is Cassandra compromising her values or whatever because she's learning to look at things in a different light..? Your Inquisitor can also develop and evolve as a character. Why should Cass be any different?

In DAO, you could Harden Leliana and Alistair and influence their worldview. You could Rival every LI in DA2 and challenge their perceptions. I don't really see how this is any worse.

Yeah..You could do those things and evolve yourself. Which is great.

My point is that you don't have to do anything. You're rewarded all the same. Everyone is basically the same character to her. You can put the effort in to make it more believable, but you don't have to.

Caring, yes. Shacking up and still saying you're from the Maker? No. It's just silly. And shallow.

How? You still haven't explained how? It's not like she lets you write doctrine for her, and I'm pretty sure she comments on your lack of belief even throughout the romance.

Yes, but... that's video game romance for you? You could romance Morrigan as a self-serving lunatic or a goody two shoes paladin type. You could romance Anders as an anti-mage Chantry zealot.

Yeah, she comments.. but she even calls a Qunari, and a "man not of her faith", still from the Maker.

To me, that's just shallow.

Shallow? That's Chantry's dogma. It teaches that all races are from the Maker, some are just a bit farther away than humans.

No, not from the Maker in "he created everything" sense. She means from the Maker, as in your authority. "Sent by the Maker" is the exact phrasing I think.

I'm genuinely puzzled. I mean, IRL I have a very religious client who says she thanks God that I'm around, says things like "have a blessed day" as I walk out the door, etc. even though I am an atheist. I don't think it's weird at all - Cassandra believes in the Maker even if the Inquisitor doesn't.

Except, unless you're a dwarf, all people come from the Maker. She also means the role you're meant to play, not your beliefs. That's not shallow in the slightest.

Cassandra is actually quite tolerant. This is especially evident in her banters with Solas and Cole.

I know she meant the role you play.

This is whole my point. Your God Given role gives you a free-for-all. Over everything. No matter who you are. Not just Cassandra. Everything.

It doesn't matter how you actually play. You have an I-Win card.

I did. She believes your authority comes from the Maker, even if you don't. I still don't see the problem.

Fair enough. We have somewhat of an understanding then. :)

Also, in your case, she basically did remain autonomous and influenced you instead. Which is cool to hear.

Well, it was more like both she and my Inquisitor got into a middle ground, She understood my views that you dont need faith to make things right (and also that sometimes mantaining tradition isnt a good thing, specially regarding the Seekers) meanwhile i stopped being a atheist douchebag just wanting to see the Chantry burn and actually admired her for her devotion to doing whats right.

Considering the fact that we both agree on "whats right and how to achieve it", it fit rather nicely, since basically what we disagree on is the motivation for doing said "right things". Cassandra belives its her faith and the will of the maker, my Inquisitor thinks doing good things is its own reason and a moral responsability.

I might get annoyed when people keep calling me Herald of Andraste or whatnot, but i kinda melted when Cassandra says during the love scene "I still belive you were sent by the maker, even if you do not. But beyond that i belive that your capable of anything".

I guess she made my Inquisitor change from Atheist to Agnostic. :)

It makes interaction less complicated. That's what the problem is. You can do what you want otherwise, believe or denigrate what you want, but farm enough approval, and you still win people over with the Andraste thing.

I'd rather work towards living up to the ideal first. Not just simply being it, no matter what. Which I can do, of course. I'm just saying it doesn't matter. I can do something else and still get the same results. Whatever effort you put into being something she'd like is no different than the person who doesn't.

You guys can praise this design if you like, but I think it sucks.

She means in closing the Breach, I'm not sure where you're getting the free-will to control everything angle from. I couldn't just decide who becomes emperor. I couldn't just decide who joins the Inquisition, I had to fight for these things. I couldn't even decide who becomes Divine. None of us have had absolute power anywhere.

The only thing worse than dwarves is qunari.

How do people look at a beautiful woman like Cass and want to hook up with her as a cow-like creature?

I'm serious. I'm genuinely puzzled on where this kind of fantasy comes from.

Because it's a fantasy video game and Cassandra's a video game character and not real life person?  God forbid someone would choose play a role and act out a story that deviates from the norm in a role playing game...

From what I can tell, it's very gamey. It doesn't matter how much you get hit on approval storywise. There's always a way to manipulate things to your favor. The story doesn't matter. How you relate to her or like her doesn't matter in the end. It's a free for all on Cassandra.

To be fair, it was similar with DAO's gift system, but without that, it was a little better. You could suffer more penalties, dialogue wise. Or if you were completely opposed to a belief system, it came down to death at times (like killing Leliana).

That's not true though.  At least from what I've found and heard from others if you deviate from her very religious views she almost always disapproves thereby making it harder to have high approval from her thereby making it harder to initiate a romance.

You can always farm approval though. I had the same problem with gifts, I guess (but I still think DAO was more punishing when it came to companion interaction too). It sucks when game mechanics trump the dialogue/choices too much. I don't think we should all reach the same options on different characters. But that's just me. They took the inclusive route instead. It just cheapens the players who allied/befriended a character the usual way.

Put it this way. Imagine if you thought you became close to somone and made a good friend... only to find out that they could just as be as close to someone rude or disrespectful across the street. lol

I dont think you can farm approval with Cass.

Btw, speaking of approval, I stopped getting approval from both Cass and Varric. I assume its because I maxed them out? Also, does maxing out approval "lock it in" like in DA 2?

I thought hunting certain renegades does the trick. My bad if I'm wrong. I'll take back many things I said then.

Yes, to the former, no to the latter. Approval can still drop.

Wait please help me out?  How can I get Cassandra if I pick the major quest options she hates?  I want to side with the Mages but fear I will screw myself with Cass.  Am I fine if I do that?

According to StreetMagic you should have zero problems since you can farm approval from Cassandra as literally any type of character.  Enjoy :)
