I don't know if she'd agree with that. I don't know see any indicators that she wants free mages. If so, she's more in limbo than I thought.

She's not in limbo and she stay true to herself.

Cassandra is obsessed with doing what is right and just, that's the foundation of her character. The problem is that "what is right" is circumstantial, hence her ever evolving opinions on things, and the righteousness of your action is never 100% certain, hence her self-doubt over her actions and constant comments over how history will remember her.

Well he did just vacuum Mythal and Urthemiel in one swoop depending on choices.

Mythal the shadow of her former self that needed a human woman to harbor her for centuries? Or Urthemiel, which I swore I saw Flemeth release through the Eluvian?

I want to believe that. It's just sometimes... it's hard to tell. The way the games are set up, she has to compromise anyways. Typical of these games. Everyone's a happy family eventually.

Yeah I forgot about the latter. Good point. Urthy might still comeback for payback.

LOL yeah... the Warden didn't kill her. She was clearly expecting the Warden to show up and snuff her ass. So just as Morrigan and her Warden companions busted a left from Kocari street to the Imperial Highway she was doing her shapeshifting show for Hawke the slack-jawed.

hence the temporarily, but she is capable of being defeated by mortals, she can't just turn them into a newt and be about her business

Makes me wonder what that amulet she gave to Hawke really was. If you noticed, the altar Merrill takes to you is an altar of Mythal.

Yeah I was wondering if they're just making it up as they go along and then I remembered Flemeth's conversation with Merrill and I can definitely see some foreshadowing there.

"Do you know who I am beyond that title?"

And when she speaks to Merrill,

"Do you know who I am, beyond that title?"

"I know only a little."

"Then stand. The People bend their knee too quickly."

Curious.

Yeah, funnily Merrill doesn't know it.

And if you go back to that area in Act 3, Merrill prays to Mythal there. She's a bit...uninformed, shall we say. As are we all.

On a side note, we can now officially proclaim that Street and Warder were indeed separated at birth. Not that I myself disagree with most of what they are saying.

Were like the Orlesian royal family.

Just with less insanity.

Hey guys, I wanted to apologize about some things. I think I need to stop paying attention to all the variations that these games can be played and just have fun in my own way. Relating this to Cassandra, it kind of upset me when thinking about this. How all roads can basically lead to the same thing. It turns out that unlocking parts of her storyarc is more pliable than I thought.

Anyways, take care. Now that the game is out, I was probably going to wind down on discussions anyways. Have fun :)

Back when I first played DA2, I didn't know what to make of Cassandra (not that she has enough of a presence in DA2 to form a genuine opinion, really), but I really dig her in DAI. As far as romances go, hers is one of my favorites in the series (and even from Bioware's whole collection). Seeing her fangirl over Varric's book was unexpected and sweet (and hilarious, since Varric himself has kind of a low opinion on that particular serial). She calls it "smutty literature", but she behaves like she can't get enough of it.

I also like how, when Cassandra says that she wants sappy romantic things (being courted with poetry and flowers and candles), I figured she was using figurative language to describe her ideal setting and mood, but the Inquisitor actually goes and gets those things for her. Of the romance scene, the poetry reading was honestly my favorite part (the friendly banter and when Cassandra shoves the Inquisitor after reading a particularly cheesy bit of poetry made me chuckle).

I'd actually like to hear more about Cassandra's adventures as a Seeker. Meeting her apprentice just gave made me think of Brienne of Tarth and Podrick Payne's adventures in Game of Thrones. I wonder if there are any other Seekers out there who she knew?

She didn't have a good introduction. In the second game, the framing device is a bit awkward in places. Particularly in Mark of the Assassin. Why did Cassandra need to know about that (like the DLC otherwise)?

And when she introduces herself to Varric "I'm Cassandra Pentaghast" it felt like when a fanfic writer is pleased with the cool name they came up with and thinks thats going to make the reader like her and I just want to reply "Pleased to meet you, I'm Beardmage Lightninglord."

But someone got ahold of the character between games and fixed her. And she's working out great here, like a good Bioware character should.

I'm having NWN2 flashbacks. Does this make Solas Gann?

Question for everyone, has anybody heard any banter that results from romancing Cass?

Viv comments on it.  as does sara... just one comment from each.  Viv basically says they're "stupid for eachother", other then that there isn't much.  i don't know if other characters say anything, seeing as my party was pretty much Cass, Viv and Sara plus my mage ever since that combo succeeded in killing my first dragon... and seconds, and third... and well you get the point.  that party had too much synergy to break up.
