Is this because you don't want to be disappointed, or do you believe that she's more likely to be lesbian instead of straight/bisexual?

Disappointment.

Aside from a couple of 'mild' hints, (if they can even be considered that) from DA2 and DoTS we really have no idea what her preference is. It does seem to be a BW trait that the first lady companions revealed are Male orientated romance options but there's a first time for everything, so I won't get too excited until it's confirmed.

The hetero male focus was caused because all their older games were designed for hetero only (minus Jade Empire and DAO). Their most recent games , DA2 and ME3, both have bisexual female "leads". Even Jade Empire could be said to have a bisexual female lead as well.

I'm not saying that Cassandra can't be straight. I'm saying that BioWare history is not to have the main girl being straight (especially in recent games).

Beside, Cassandra wasn't used has eye-candy in the trailer. She's one of BioWare less sexualized female character. He presence in the trailer is total different than seeing Morrigan's sex scene in DAO gameplay trailer...

I hope you're right about Cass :(

True, very often the most marketed female character doesn't become the female lead, and there has been a good share of bisexuals in that regard. However, you're assuming that Cassandra will be the main girl. Maybe Sera is the Liara of DA:I :P

I'm a guy and i've pretty much been wanting to romance Cass since she was revealed to be a companion.

If she's a lesbian i'll be sad :(

But i do actually want her to be bi, just because so many females seem to love her as well.

I want everyone to be happy dammit! :P

Cass romance might be like you have to prove. You have honor or would defend her. Like when hawke killed the arishok solo and she was inpressed. She likes hero types i think.

Personally, I am hoping that Cass is bi, for my own selfish reasons and also because I'd like everyone to be happy in at least this one aspect. ^^

By the way, I know the whole Orlesian ballgown thing ran its course on the last page, but if I may submit a little something that came to mind:

F!Quizzy: Dear, sweet Maker! I can't move, I can't breathe... do they use these gowns as torture devices in Orlais, Vivienne? They should, they'd get everything out of their prisoners in mere seconds!

Viv: *lips twitch in amusement* Hardly, my darling Inquisitor; we have the spring fashions for that. Now stay still, I haven't finished. *pulls laces taught*

F!Quizzy: *mutters* Tight-laced corsets and bodices that induce heaving bosoms? I thought these kinds of dresses only existed in those books Cassandra pretends she doesn't read and Varric pretends he doesn't write...

Cass: *enters* Did I hear my name, Inquisitor?

F!Quizzy: *jaw drops* Wha... buh... what are you wearing?

Cass: *raises eyebrow* A dress. I thought that was obvious?

F!Quizzy: With a... with a corset and everything, and you're not gasping for breath or about to keel over from walking in pinchy shoes?!

Cass: *frowns* In case you'd forgotten, Inquisitor, I was a member of the Nevarran royal family before I became a Seeker and then your human-sized battering ram. Speaking of which, doing that is starting to tax my shoulders tremendously, so if we could find some other way to infiltrate the Keep next time I would be grateful.

Viv: *purses lips* Your gown flatters your figure well, my dear Seeker, but it is so plain for an event of this magnitude. If you'd just let me do some minor alterations for ornament, some embroidery perhaps, or a gold filigree. We could even get Sister Nightingale to suggest an alternate color palette to offset...

Cass: *deadpan* If you lay one finger on this fabric, I will see to it that something horrible happens to your hat collection in the night. Get that needle away from me.

F!Quizzy: This is so unfair! Cassandra's going to be all graceful, beautiful and poised, and I'm going to look like a stuffed turkey with the feathers still attached!

Viv: *cheerfully* Nonsense, Inquisitor! You'll look like a stuffed peacock, at the very least.

F!Quizzy: .... *death glare*

Cass: I... don't believe that is very comforting, First Enchanter.

Now that it's somewhat brought up, who would you gladly kill in order to romance Cass. For example... I would gladly sacrifice Varric.

The world.

Cassandra: "What have you done, Inquisitor?!"

Inquisitor: "You said you'd only date me if I was the last person alive. Well...here we are."

Cassandra's dialog in DA2 isn't gender specific unless Varric brings up the gender difference. Varric totally think she's into men, but it wouldn't be the first time he is wrong about people.

DotS is weird though. By Japanese anime standard, it has all the classic romance tropes, except that Cassandra fail to deliver, while Galyan appear to be madly in love by the end of the movie. What I mean by "fail to deliver" is that while Cassandra do no appear clueless, she does not react to Galyan's advances: no rejection, no conflicted "he's a mage", no blush, nothing. It's really weird, you think that someone with her personality would reject you if she wasn't interested, but you also think she would be conflicted if she was attracted to a mage.

The anime doesn't tell us anything about her preferences, it only tell us that she is not clueless and that she do not show what she feel easily. One thing is sure, I do not expect her to be the "easy romance" of the game.

That would fit well with her being a "crusty baguette"

Hard exterior, but soft on the inside :)

I'm not sure what either of you just said.

Edit: Though a nice, warm baguette sounds good right now.

The Elder King was lost in words I guess.

I doubt any of the food!Inquisition will make it into the game. It's just something the dev do for fun. Beside, Varric will be way too scared to call Cassandra anything else than Seeker. He was scared of Aveline who was actually nice to him, imagine Cassandra...who almost make an eunuch out of him.

I hit the post button as a mistake before writing my post, then when I edited it it didn't show up (probably because of my internet connection <_<) and I forgot about it.
Basically I wanted to say what you said. I remember that they did something similar in the past for other companions.

I'm willing to bet that it's going to be the same with her and the Inquisitor.
She'll probably be either "Seeker" or "Cassandra" in front of the rest of the Inquisition. Calling her "Cass, Cassie, love, sweetheart, etc." in public probably would get Cassandra Glare #2.

all the more reason to call her that in public :D

I would so love to have the option to tease her from time to time :P

I expect a lot of teasing of Cassandra in the game. No to sure if I want my Inquisitor to lose a limb though.

Actually, she might like the sweet ones from the Inquisitor, but still answer softly with something like "this is not the time for such things".
