Im not sure whether or not i blew my chances with Cassandra. She wont give me the romance quest for her.

1.) I've been fairly good with her i think, she calls me friend and doesn't seem to be antagonistic to me when i speak to her at skyhold.

2.) I'm male so there is that.

3.) I conscripted the mages per her suggestion.

4.) I gave Cole the boot. (Not just for her, but because i want to be the only assassin.)

5.) I believe in the Chantry and the Maker all that is good.

6.) I did her unfinished business quest.

7.) I got her the next copy of swords and shields.

What else is there? She isn't giving me the next quest? Did she friend zone me?

The only thing i can think of is, a conversation where i had three options none of which had the tone icons but i remember i picked the "I don't deserve that" response, i think she was praising me or giving me a ton of credit or something.. however I wonder if I was suppose to pick the, "Friend" option? I remember not wanting to pick that one because i wanted to be more than friends, and thought that might be a friend zone trap. lol

There's a quest you need to do for her to track down the Seekers. I believe its triggered after

Spoiler
.

After that, the quest triggers, complete it, then I believe she'll give you a quest where you go get all the things to win her Heart!

Well, I think there's a War Table operation you have to put power into to access the area for the Seeker quest.

Well, roll another playthrough, romance her and ensure she doesn't become the divine this time. Happy ending. ;)

I think it probably threw people off guard. It happens right at the end of the game, so some people might not have expected it. The good news is that its only one of 3 endings to the romance. The other two have the inquisitor and Cass staying together. So it's just a matter of doing it "right" next time.

Sadly, this was my "canon" playthrough - I tried to stay in character, without gaming the npc's too much. Perhaps one day I will revisit this in an attempt to make things right, alas, it is not today - today I need to be left to my misery. :crying: *sheds fantears*

Cassandra is a bit too busy thinking about where the hell the Seekers are to think about romance. You need to finish Promise of Destruction and you can only get it from her after you talked to the Warden in Crestwood (no need to complete the entire Abyss quest line, just the Crestwood part and return to Skyhold to talk to Cass).

So I restarted my original playthrough to try and make sure Cass stays with my Inquisitor. While I'm doing my Mage ultimate Paragon playthrough to win Josephines heart.

This is what a non-insane person does. Honest!

I've also now decided that my Canon playthrough isn't going to be about trying to make sure every past decision isn't ruined in the present, but more along the lines of each of my Characters making decisions that I feel they should make. And then Characters in future DA events will be living in a world effected by the previous Characters. I usually just always do a complete Paragon mode playthrough, but its not really how I believe the people I control would behave.

I believe I've made that paragraph confusing, so I apologize, and I'm going to stop writing now and get back to the game!

Quick question: Does she have friendship / anything-instead-of-romance dialogue for female characters?

That is true, I just wonder what kind of Divine Vivenne will be.

I feel bad for the future Main Characters in future games. They'll have to contend with any consequences of my decisions that I make in this game and try and fix them.

That's practically the summary of my main world state when it comes to each Character - Here's a bunch of problems, add your own, fix them, or make them worse, the choice is yours!

I think Vivienne will set a good example for mages. Which is the main concern. You're not necessarily tasked with saving the entire world from all of their little problems. You're tasked with bringing order, first and foremost. Second, repair whatever damage was caused to Mage/Templar issue in the wake of the explosion. Vivienne is a good solution for both cases.

What she'll probably do however is continue the sense of pomp and ceremony that the old Chantry maintained. And not exactly overly concern herself with the poor like Cass would, or elves like Leliana would. Basically, I see her in power having the Chantry continue on as before, except with some slightly radical changes to the issue of mages.

There's banter with her and Blackwall that kind of sums up her attitude. He says makes a difference in people's lives with his deeds. She mocks him and laughs that you don't change anyone's life by "passing through" one day and doing some good deed. She's very realistic. She doesn't kid herself that she can make a difference on that level.

Going by what I read on Reddit and Tumblr, you can have a bromance with Cassandra with a female Quizzi. How much that means in term of not-romance dialogue, I do not know.

Oh really! That I didn't know!

That's what happened in may playthrough, so that's how I know.

I mean, it's kind of weird, since you walk through scaffolding several times during the scene, but yeah.

Yeah, I'd recommend completing the Abyss quest line just to clear the clutter out of that scene.

Thing is, I had the scaffolding as well when I did her romance last playthrough.

And that was after the Into the Abyss quest line.

That was a bug. The scaffolding should be gone after that quest.

I haven't finished the Abyss quest yet, but the scaffolding are gone once I finished the Double Wicked quest.

The most shocking revelation about her IMO was that

Spoiler
. That's a pretty heavy past.

On an unrelated note, I wonder how she was written before Jennifer Hepler left. (probably fangirl romance arc and super whiny)

Geez. Hepler was a good writer. She's done a lot of things besides Anders, you know. Contributed to the Dwarven atmosphere in DAO, for example (and the Commoner origin). And the Branka/Brood Mother stuff. I think she probably liked addressing Chantry issues as well, so Cass would have fit (since she also did Sebastian and Anders... not to mention Bethany).

All those characters were boring, tbh. Gaider was the best thing that happened to Cass. Which is kind of sad, really, everything he does being tragic and all.

Without even knowing Hepler wrote it back when I played it (or who she were) Orzammar was so terrible, I thought that I wish I could've just skipped it (or would've). It was such a long in the tooth part of the game, that indulged me way too long after I stopped listening. It was just boring.

I asked what Hepler had done once, and the list I got was pretty much a list of all the things I hated about DAO and DA2, so good riddance unfortunately.

Gaider created Cass originally. Hepler was just going to take over.

I'm a little torn on how she was handled honestly. In retrospect, I would have been just as happy with her as a remote character like DA2. Or in more anime or a novel. Some setting where she stood her own ground and ran the show. The main thing she truly believes now is you, the player. Game mechanics/companion status really changes a character, I guess.

Eh, point still stands. Helper's kind of awful. I hated Bethany, Sebastian, Anders, and the anything below Fereden that wasn't Bhelen.

As to this, again, I'm not sure what the problem with Cassandra believing in the player is? Do you not believe in her? It's not like she's hiding behind you be some damsel in distress. She takes the front and is the protector. Side by side with the Herald of Andraste. I can honestly think of nothing more beautiful.
