What do we know about Cassandra?
Her romance is broken.
And I like to think it was because of the tranquil state that Cassandra is so passionate. Being tranquil rids the person of their emotions, from the surface to the depths of their souls. So any emotion Cassandra experiences now, there's probably a new depth to how it effects her due to her being tranquil in the past, that hardly any other people are able to achieve.
Her trainer used to tell her she was too brash in her early Seeker days, so I think she was always passionate...the anger management issues might be a side effect though.
Her romance is broken.
*snip because that should never be seen twice*

It's not even pukeworthy. Just stupid. And dorky.
I mean, we're all dorks... actually.

The romance itself is dorky. But the bug that won't even let some players experience that much is beyond dorky. It is a major fail.

The romance is dorky in an endearing and realistic way. Extra dorkiness doesn't need to be tacked on.
On a serious note, I think the romances work best if you can some offer some sense of realistic attachment to it. To make the player feel they're in the world.. It's even more the case now that they have nudity. That's just upped the ante for something more respectful, beautiful, and realistic (sorry if that sounds cheesy).
Horned people need love too, Street.

There are no horned people. Kind of my point. It plays on no real desire.
It doesn't even serve as a good metaphor.
It lives in it's own space that relates to nothing.
Going by Cole/Cassandra and Solas/Cass banters, the tranquil state was only for a moment. Although, I have a problem believing that Cassandra was able to empty herself of all emotions for a full year without it, she's way too passionate.
It was these conversations that had me wondering in the first place
(If by Taint, you didn't mean the Blight, this entire post is now rendered irrelevant!)
I can hazard a guess at who got pissed at you lol, as they are currently the only guests on my ignore list.
It wouldn't surprise me that they'd be resistant/immune to the taint. Maybe its a benefit of being touched by a Spirit of Faith, or some higher power reason. I mean, Fiona use to be a Warden, and the taint left her for Maker knows what reason, so its not impossible.
Heck, if I remember correctly, and whoever can correct me if I'm wrong, I'd be grateful;
(Spoilerish due to last quest in Act 1 if you side with Mages)

But who knows, I might be pulling at strings here. But until any and all official answers are given to situations like these, thats the joy of sharing our theories and personal opinions.
Yes, that was the case in that quest, I remember stopping to read that entry when i found it. it does not surprise me some people are more resistant to the taint than others, heck the Hawke sibling lasts what, several weeks upon getting infected before showing real signs, where as Avaline's first husband succumbed within a short time of knowing him.

I've always wondered why the Dalish origin was more resistant. I mean, they had some help from the Keeper, but you can pretty much choose dialogue where you seem unphased. And then blame Duncan for lying.

That's not the case here though. All Qunari fans do is revel in how sexualized they are. Instead of being ugly.
Same with NPCs in game. Where the Chantry sisters are banging Iron Bull and having a laugh.
The whole thing is stupid. And that's all I'm going to keep saying.
Ride the Bull, the Maker made him to please. Blessed are they who stand before the corrupt and the wicked and get wrecked.

What does your problem with qunari have to do with the game being broken?

Well considering that dialogue has been patched for most people and he was never talking about that, nothing really.

I was responding to breadmax's puke emoticon. Not you. Except your video... which is only tangentially related.

It's bad enough they degrade Chantry sisters. Not the Chant of Light too. ![]()

Amen, Father Brad.

Hot damn, that Qunari is gorgeous.

The Bull is handled better... because he's an NPC. Then you can roleplay someone coming to terms with him in your own way. It's a little different from the first person perspective. The sames issues aren't hashed out. Too much is assumed. Nor are you the one "grabbing the horns"... instead you have the horns yourself. Which lacks any meaning to your psychology as a player. It's just pointless novelty. It's "kewl".

So... you think Cassandra should have been racegated?

Not sure. Maybe like Cullen. Could work.
I'm fine just expressing my hatred though. I'm not out to change the world. I just don't like some people. They can feel the same about me.

And why is it a bad thing for Cassandra to romance a Vashoth again?

I said above. It doesn't revolve around any realistic romantic inclination for people. Nothing about them even serves as a good metaphor for issues you'd have in real life.
If there was a beauty and the beast message here, then it's better served with dwarves. That's the race people consider ugly. Where the metaphor is about beauty on the inside. That's why I'm not really for racegating. There's potential here.
All Qunari are sexualized though. And their fans know it. They don't feel any securities of the dwarves. It's about dominance. Except players don't experience this in real life on this level either. Most probably don't anyways. They're not playing anyone realistic here.
edit: Sorry if that was confusing. I'll try to clarify more if I have to.

Um, what? All this means is that some people like to play as qunari, and many of those like romance. There doesn't have to be a racial angle to it at all.
