It's not presumptuous. I see evidence of it all the time. Not so much the dwarves though. Hardly anyone even talks about them. Qunari are pretty fetishized though. Both from devs and players.

People sexualize everything in this series, though. Both in universe and out (see: every single fan thread, references to "dirty spells", naughty Chantry sisters, blah blah blah). In a world where you've got four humanoid races instead of one, they're gonna get treated as... ya know, people. Contrary to popular belief, dwarves don't sprout from rocks. Presumably neither do qunari or elves.

It's cool if it grosses you out for whatever reason, but acting like there's something wrong with other people is a bit much. It's like wearing a sign that says, "STOP LIKING THINGS I DON'T LIKE!"

I feel like your taking it more serious than the devs and players

I wish that were true.

I'm baffled and confused, more like. Not serious. To be serious, I'd have to have a stronger point. I just don't understand where even the slightest inclination towards this direction is even coming from.

Oh how that statement could be said about some real life issues….  :P

Sigh. I can understand that.

I'm 6'5". I've dated women much shorter. I don't have a choice really.

My mom is a lot shorter than my dad. Their relationship is false, and people might be slightly confused about it.  :P

And then I saw Iron Bull's romance on Youtube with a female dwarf. Never again.

Makes me think of Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell!

(My dad was was 6'4" and my mom was 5'0". You'd think I would've come out somewhere in the middle, but nooo. I feel your pain.)

Beards. Duncan, Hawke, Blackwall...

To be fair, she's clearly standing on a crate or something for most of those scenes.

On a sidenote, one thing I like about Qunari and romance is Iron Bull.. especially paired with a Qunari. I said earlier I think players fetishize them. Not just physically, but Qunari seems to be the go-to choice for anyone who wants to be "dominant". They're the Mary Sue race. Physical dominance, mental, spiritual, military. And if you question it, you get handwaved with a "No."

Bull kind of subverts that need and insists on being the dominant one. Sadly, it's only in his case.

The qunari aren't really Mary Sues in that they are almost always portrayed terribly outside of being efficient military wise. It's like saying the Ottomans were Mary Sues just because they were able to dominate the Middle East and parts of Europe.

More about being armbinded and completely wrecked by some dude 5x her size, but okay.

And now they're not portrayed so terribly. They're suddenly more understanding and hip. And open to transexuals to boot. Sky's the limit. Commence more Mary Sue'ing. I expect much more of it later.

They aren't. Iron Bull is. He left for a reason.

Look. Cass is cool and all, butt it's really unhealthy to stay mired in the past. Even for love. Inquisitor needs to move on.

Bah. The way I look at it, if Cass the ultimate badass can't get laid while she's divine, then so can the Inquiz.

However, Gaider said "Wait and see" on whether it was the end of the romance or not. Patrick seems to suggest Leli will keep her romance going even if she's Divine, and make changes. Whether Cass will do the same, or if you'll need to marry her before she becomes the divine, only time will tell. We might one day get something like an Awakening expansion.

Sigh. Lets just say that I hope you're right. There are so many changes going on I don't know what to think anymore. So many things I liked about Thedas have been torn apart, and painted in the worst light (like the Dalish and Chantry) while things I find ugly are propped up and seemingly made even more likeable. So I find it all a little depressing.

How do you mean? The Dalish always have been shown to do dumb things out of desperation, and the Chantry is about as positive as it has always been shown.

I got the impression that Qunari society accepted trans people when Bull was talking about Krem. And it's not as if a society can't be highly authoritarian and have some measure of legal/social acceptance for trans people. (Iran is and does)

(I do think they've changed Qunari lore a bit to from their initial concept, though)
