Honestly most of this race stuff is as simple as "playing what you like". I like elves and dwarves, so I play those. Other people like humans and qunari.
*shrug*
I can like them all to a point, believe it or not. It's when sex comes into the equation... I'm just curious what actual fantasy that's being indulged. I wouldn't use Youtube as a measure, but I know some of romance vids there can be pretty damn crass. Qunari players laughing at her being "impaled by a bull's ****". They just strip all the charm and beauty out of the romance arc and make it sound degrading. But that's youtube. Maybe someone else has better motivations.

About the only thing they didn't.
Would have been interesting.

Yeah, that's just fratboys being fratboys. Thoroughly obnoxious and unpleasant, but that's why I never look in the comments section. Eugh.
I'm sure there are just as many people with lovingly-crafted headcanons, who love the schmoop and sweetness of Cassandra's romance, who also just happen to like roleplaying non-humans.

The Warden never met a Seeker in combat.

Flemeth and the archdemon are more powerful than any Seeker, Warder. Even the image of Lambert you've built up.

Maybe you're right. Fratboys. Or something.
Even though she's fictional, I almost feel like I'm trying to defend an actual woman here. What can I say? I'm a romantic. Just like her. ![]()

Yay. David Gaider actually replied to me in an email. ![]()
I asked about Trevelyan rp concepts. I guess he just gave me free reign to make up backstory.
Sorry. Offtopic.

No, I agree with you! As a real woman, I'd scrub myself with sandpaper if I heard comments like that directed at me. Have wanted to in the past.

Wait, you asked that, but didn't ask if Seekers could drink darkspawn blood?

He probably wouldn't say anyways.
He gave me one line and closed the conversation.

Did he give you any prompts, at least? For shame, Gaider!

Prompts? He just said I should make my own rp concepts.
It's nothing really... but a relief coming from the word of god.

The blessing and the curse of having a (more or less) blank slate protagonist. Depends how much you like a little inference and a lot of headcanoning.

It didn't quite come off as blank slate to me before (I mean, the human noble). I felt a little pigeonholed into being young from the description. It's not very clear. I asked if I could be a Chantry brother already and 30+ yrs old. I kind of want to base my character off of Sebastian. And Tom Hagen from the Godfather.. like kind of the family's expert on law and other intrigue.. but consigned to never be an heir.

I don't mind playing a "younger" character (I pin the rogue/warrior Trevelyan inquisitor around 27-30), and in the context of the Cass romance its interesting for once to have the PC be the younger partner, usually most of the other Bioware romances I've tried have the protagonist be the older, more experienced one either literally or mentally.

Sounds somewhat similiar to my headcanon in some aspects.

Besides Merrill or Alistair, who are about the same age, all LIs have always been older than the PC in Dragon Age. It's nothing new.

That's why I put in the "I've tried".
Well, that was actually not entirely true, Morrigan was as you said equal in that regard.

I was thinking a Loghain or Ser Cautherian to be honest.
And Flemeth is sort of a push over.

I think he (Gaider) said much with the character. He painted anti-mage sentiments as a bigger evil than others.
And it's pretty much carried through into DAI. The Templars can never win. You have to reckon with mage freedom to a point. Even the staunchest Templar support requires you to crown a mage as Divine. This is where the world is heading. And it begins in Asunder.. where people like Lambert are painted in the worst light.
If I agree with you on Lambert being painted in a bad light, then all that DG is speaking against would still be an extreme.
Much of the Templar side in DAI is focused on Templars dutifully performing their duties. Saving a mage from a mob and then bringing him to a provisionary Circle; offering a group of mages the chance to surrender with the mages nearly killing those who tried to.
Cassandra, not a mage, brings the Circles back. With greater autonomy, yes, but always under the supervision of Chantry and Templars.
The Templars were never about denying any and all freedoms.

You are cray if you think an elven goddess and an aren't archdemon comparable to an old man and a random lieutenant. Gameplay mechanics don't mean anything. And even if they did, both those creatures are statwise more powerful than both of the others combined.

I usually play as a dwarven warrior when given the chance as a tribute to my Dwarf Barbarian Axebeard Beardaxe, the very first D&D character I ever rolled.

Creatures are about as strong as the plot and mechanics demand.
You'd think Imshael, a Forbidden One, would be above the Nightmare on demonic hierarchy but we end up running from the latter.
Meanwhile, Flemeth can be soloed.
