No, they're not.

I'm not even that immersed in this setting anymore, but I'm still able to see that they're all distinct. Sure, they're all bipedal with eyes/ears/noses in most of the same places, but they are different. And intended as such.

I never said they weren't distinct, and I even said that they each had differences. The biggest difference between humans any of the other playable races is the horns on Qunari. They all have human-looking body shapes (2 arms joined to their torso at the shoulder, a head that sits on a prominent neck, and even human sexual dimorphism), albeit with a quirk to make their silhouette different from that of normal humans. In terms of phenotype, they practically ARE human. Same goes for the asari in Mass Effect. They're just blue women with ridges on their heads instead of hair. Other than that, they resemble humans almost fully.

I tried really hard, and I could not think of a single more horrid and insulting comparison than comparing anything in DA to Twilight and Edward. Well done.

Hence the term humanoid :P

Don't insult Cass like that

Oh no, Cassandra would never have such terrible taste in men. Edward's far from the "ideal".

I haven't used Iron Bull much so I didn't hear the dialogue. I need a way to beat his ass. There's the stick thing, but he likes that, lol.

I started using him recently after I found out what was making him die so much. That last reaver ability, and lack of fade touched obsidian. I play on nightmare, but even on hard, he was dying all the time before my fixes.

Lol I wasn't saying she was interested in Edward. My point was just as some women who read those novels settle for nothing less than an "Edward", Cassandra settles for nothing less than the romantic ideal. She basically tells you that in the romance, that she wants a man who reads her poetry and brings her flowers and all that sappy stuff. That's why she expresses disinterest in Iron Bull and says "that's never going to happen".

Also, he only tries to hit on her if she isn't being romanced, and you are romancing Dorian.

I was mostly referring to you saying she would read Twilight, Cassandra has far better taste in romance novels than that..... abomination

The men in Varric's novels don't act like that. And Bull hits on Cassandra regardless.

You misunderstood my intent then, I was simply using the comparison to show how some women react to their ideal men that they read about. I wasn't suggesting that Cass would read such a horrible book. But then again given Varric's comments about his romance novel, who knows. ;)

I wasn't implying they did. Also, if you check out the banter video he only does it if she isn't being romanced, and dorian is. Otherwise he'd make a comment about her and the inquisitor, or how he's in a committed relationship with Dorian.

Ah K, good.

As for the rest, judging from the dialogue I just listened to, there's a lot more keeping her from banging the bull than him not liking poetry, lol.

Aside from the part where Cassandra says it will never happen, I've gotten literally everything else. None of that other dialogue happens until the game is almost over. As for the rest, saying Cassandra likes men like the people in Varric's novel and then saying she wants x, y, and z very much implies the men in said novels also would do x, y, and z for her.

It's not so much poetry as it is she doesn't see him as her ideal man I suppose. IB is promiscuous, although from what I heard his relationship with Dorian is apparently serious. Even so, she made it clear she wasn't interested in him romantically for whatever reason that may be.

Some of it is quest gated perhaps. And interestingly enough the banter doesn't always fire in a specific order. I know the romance dialogue with Varric is quest dependent for example. Then you have the apparent bug that factors in.

On the flip side, Bull's acknowledgement of the Cassandra/Inquisitor romance is the best of all the companions.

Bull: He's not just an object to quench your desires, Cass. Make sure to undress him with your eyes... Respectfully.

Inquisitor: What are you two talking about?

Bull: Your naked body. Well, I am. Cassandra is just glaring and turning red.

also--

Bull: Seeker, remember how you backhanded that guy with your shield and damn near chopped him in half?

Cassandra: Yes. What of it?

Bull: You and the boss should try those moves between the sheets.

Cassandra: Who is to say we haven't already?

Oh lawd, having flashbacks to the Solas thread.

Inquisitor: How old are you?
Solas: 42.
Inquisitor: How long have you been 42?
Solas: ...a while.

I preferred the Varric comment myself. :P Especially the "Is it, buttercup? Is it?"

Yea just heard those, really funny. I would have waited to hear in game, but with the dialogue thing being the way it is, who knows when I'd finally get to hear it.

Lol that's not what I was getting at. I mean I'm pretty sure it's just that she doesn't like banging big ugly dudes with horns ;) I know that isn't the case if you're a Qunari, but her dialogue with Bull about him and Dorian I think makes her preferences pretty clear.

"Envious of Dorian?"

"Who wouldn't be? See these horns?"

"...I... see them, but..."

I don't think its a problem with horns, so much as it is who the person is on the inside. When IB comments on a Qunari inquisitor romance with her, I believe her response was something like "I wouldn't mind the right Qunari" or something like that.

She says "Certain Qunari" When Bull says that she likes Qunari men after all. Of course she'd say that, they have to have a compatible romance for everyone after all. Realistically though, it'd be rather uncommon for people to be attracted to that sort of Qunari I think. Hornless maybe, like Sten. But banging something like bull's borderline bestiality, even if it isn't "technically".

Not saying that Qunari romances are "wrong or false"... just saying, I think it's kinda forced.

What sort of Qunari are you talking about? The inquisitor, which Cass is fine with, or the IB? I think it depends on preference of the individual person. Again, her lack of attraction to Iron Bull isn't because he is a Qunari, its more than anything his personality and the sort of man he is. She makes it clear in her romance that she's attracted to a very specific sort of man. Iron Bull simply didn't fit that bill. It had nothing to do with him being a Qunari.

The mentioning of Twilight   I can't stop imagining Cassandra meeting Edward.
You know, he'd be stalking someone, as he does--probably Josephine.

Cassandra would open a can of Heaven Wrath and Shield Bash that creepy mug.

You'd find little bits of sparkly bullsh!t all the way back to Fang Banger estate.

I'm done.

Continue.

Didn't realize I would open a can of worms with that comparison. Next time I'll have to use something else.  :P

Nah, keep'em coming. Gives me an excuse to think up increasingly elaborate ways to describe his death.

Yea I know that's your outlook on it, but I don't buy it. Women, and people in general really, can't always get past appearance just by what's on the inside. Realistically a woman typically just isn't going to be into something like a qunari... it's just absurd.

Sera sure. A woman like Cassandra...

As a woman, I can safely say... different strokes for different folks.
