Possibly. Still, the number of Nevarrans we've met so far is very, very short. That makes even more impressing that Nevarra has such an intrincate lore.
The number of Nevarrans meet in the DA games stand at exactly two (well those with names and that we know come from there): Ginnis and Cassandra...and we technically haven't met Cassandra as the player character yet.

I count the expanded universe too. That rises the number of Nevarrans to... three (Nyree from Tallis' adventure). Just three. Ok, technically Merrill was born in Nevarra, but I don't think it counts.
If we keep this up, in DA:I we will meet another Nevarran and we'll have to wait for the next novel after Last Flight to see another one

They never get mentioned. Not even once. It's all about her brother (and Byron being her father figure), which usually point toward dead or very distant parents.
No, it happens if you and her kill the dragon by yourselves. To the Pentaghasts, killing dragons are known as date night.

I imagine that if they let Cassandra run off to become a Seeker after her brother died and she was left the sole heir to their branch of the family, her parents are either regrettably lacking in vitality, or quite distant indeed. My money is on the former.
Then again, I'm sure Cassandra being a Seeker and a Hand of the Divine carries more than enough prestige to be acceptable, particularly for a Pentaghast who isn't volleying for a spot in the line of Nevarran succession. Not that she would really care for such things, especially at this point, what with the gaping green holes in the sky and the like-as-not barbequed state of the Divine to worry about.
From what I understood, other than the king's heir (the brother), the other Penthaghast members don't have more rights on the throne than the Van Markham clan members, since the two clans are related after the start of the third royal line.

I have the impression that the Pentaghasts has a whole do not really care that much about Nevarra, it seems to be more of a buffer against Tevinter and Orlais. Even after the 3rd blight, the Pentaghasts liberated Hunter Fell (taken over by Tevinter) decades before Nevarra City (taken over by Orlais). They seem to prioritize their ancestral home a lot. Now, they have a succession crisis and, going by the no known children and really old king, it was known years ago that it was going to happen. It almost as if they let it happen actually...
As for Cassandra, I don't think she really care who rule, she left politics and her noble life behind years ago. I even wonder if she plays The Gametm in Orlais. Leliana said everyone was playing it, but Cassandra doesn't seem the type to backstab and manipulate others. Punch someone hard in the face, yes, plotting in the background, no.
