I even wonder if she plays The Gametm in Orlais. Leliana said everyone was playing it, but Cassandra doesn't seem the type to backstab and manipulate others. Punch someone hard in the face, yes, plotting in the background, no.

Why waste time plotting and backstabbing for hours when she can beat the crap out of someone in mere minutes?   B)

I can't wait for her to hold her sword to my throat

Cassandra: "You are the only threat I see!"

Inquisitor: "Watch out! We got a badass over here!"

I have to admit, I am modestly curious about what Cassandra will be like as a romance. The actual Cassandra, mind you, and not just the fannon one going around.

I'm personally expecting female Fenris...

Just modestly. I stopped being emotionally invested in RPG romances when I realized LI's will respond with the same One True Love to you and me and half a million other characters of varying character. Someone who professes love to anyone, can be said to love no one. The person who believes that the same love is true to them in particular, is worse.

It's an outlier perspective, but one that's shaped my attitude towards video game romances ever since. I've found I'm rather indifferent about 'True Love' RPG stories about how awesome/amazing the player character is, and much more comfortable/entertained by more mundane or basic motivations. I'm paradoxally more open to romances in which the LI acknowledges some ambivalence or indifference about the PC's uniqueness.

Traumatized and coping poorly?

I'm not sure what archetype I'm expecting. It's hard for me to imagine how she would act when she's sweet on someone, or how she would act towards someone sweet on her.

I just get a sense of her as the romantic equivalent of the stereotypical asian mother: demanding, severe in some contexts, but with an understated love in subtle gestures. Actions rather than words, and not necessarily soft actions either.

That said, I will laugh if she's yandere. Bioware should totally do a LI who gets creepy if you cheat on them or flirt with others.

for some reason she looks like a midget in that pic

It's because her body is four and a half heads. In the absence of external clues, people figure out how tall an adult is by comparing their head to their body.

I don't know if I could see that. This does make me wonder though, has bioware ever had a similarly angry brooding female companion? It seems kinda rare in general.

I don't think Cass is one to really brood, she seems to be a very get-this-done-no-questions kind of gal, not unlike Aveline, except Cass doesn't seem as motherly and caring as Ave (one of her most endearing traits).

I'm curious to see how she acts around her companions, I can see many facepalms in poor Cass' future.

Interesting approach, and one that I share to a certain point. In my case, it's because I don't believe in The One True Love. People love or can't love, and can do it once, twice or as many times as they feel so. And every time is different. So, yes, I like it when romantic interests acknowledge that there have been others in their lives. The player may feel less special, but that's a good thing in my books.

Truth be told, I'm looking forward to knowing more about Cassandra and Regalyan. Even if it's just a mention followed by "and then he died in the explosion. The End."

I don't care about RPG romances. They usually makes me facepalm and roll-my-eyes anyway (for the things you listed and others) and I prefer the "friendship" path. I do want to know more about the character though and that is making me impatient.

I don't think Cassandra is the type to brood either. She is a bit grumpy though.

Companion interactions should be really interesting. Anyone acting like a fool and not that much interested in the Inquisition is going to make Cassandra facepalm and anger her. That's probably 90% of the companions right there just looking at the line up. Sort of like Morrigan in DAO I guess.

There is a weird Cassandra best friend being Dorian "movement" on tumblr. It generate some hilarious fan art...

It will probably be even more hilarious once the game is released and their relationship end up somewhere else entirely.

Inquisitor: Are they going to argue all day?

Varric: You've got an ex-Magister and a Seeker together in the same place, that's like throwing a coin purse into the middle of a Merchant's Guild meeting.

Inquisitor: If they keep bickering like that people will talk.

Varric: Ten sovereigns says that they'll kiss before all this is over.

Inquisitor: You're on.

I'll confess, I once trolled someone with this one time. They were one of those people just a tad too invested in their favored LI and were making some sort of argument that Tali(?) loved their Shepard in the bestest most sincere way of True Love for the Individual because Paragon Shepard was the knight in shining armor blah blah blah, and I brought up the counterpoint of a Renegade Shepard (who they had already said they despised) and rubbed in their face how Tali would say nearly all the same things to a cruel xenophobic ******* who regularly berated her so long as he was briefly nice to her and didn't expose her father.

I think I broke their mental image of Tali as someone with good taste.
