I'm guessing it's a Cassandra reactionary pic, not an example of a non cute pic.

I would be surprised but not shocked if Cassandra came back. She seems like a relatively well received character across the board. I mean, Leliana came back and it's not like we got a lot of new background info about her.
I think the whole divine thing would be an obstacle but not an insuperable one; after all, Leliana came back from the dead, which you'd think would be a much larger obstacle,
Difference though is she doesn't just have 1 end state, but 3 (divine, inquisition, seekers) that she could possibly arrive at by the end of inquisition. Even if she's well received, that's no reason to throw her in the next game. I fear thats what they may do with Varric again, even though we've already had him twice and it would feel forced. Both of them have been in 2 games so far, I just hope they let them finish on a high note with this title.

Cassandra had a minor role in DA2, and I see no reason why she cannot cameo (etc) in a new DA. This just seems like infamous gamer’s cynicism, where you tell yourself that a character will not show up because it's your defense mechanism in case that character does not, in fact, show up in the next game. In reality, you have no clue if Cassandra will be in the next game until she is actually confirmed. Instead of playing the part of ‘ridiculous fortune teller’, I just go with what Oscar Wilde said, “Things are what they are, and will be what they will be.”

She looks like she is about to kill me...but I bet I would like it. ![]()
I bet Cass would've gotten along with the PC's mabari, if we'd had one. She seems like a dog person.
It is possible that it fall into the "dung monster" category...
Just saw the ending today and I must admit, while I would have liked more emphasys on how they're making a tremendous sacrífice for the good of the people, it did a good job of wrapping up Cass' romance.
As two duty-driven people, they placed the common good over their own and then tried to make their last days toghether something worth remembering. It's bittersweet but that too is in accordance with the universe Dragon Age portrays.
Or that is what I would say were I thinking rationally.
DLC, Expansion, pleeeeease!

Divine or not, I look forward to seeing her in more stuff. Personally, I like the idea of the Seekers, and no one can get them on track the way she could. I find this job more important than the Divine itself. That's where I see her (and hands on in the matter). They're doomed without her.. but the Chantry could go on with or without Cass.

I imagine the Inquisitor sneaking in through the secret cabinet to get into her room in the middle of the night...for tea and crumpets only. ![]()

Its a bit weird though...could the Inquisition not become a replacement for the Seekers of Truth?

They could.. I don't know if they'd let us though. The vigil could be done anywhere, just like the Warden joining.. just need the secrets.. which we have.
They're originally one and the same.. they should do something like this.

Hell, I'm even able to tolerate Leliana's crazy revolution of the Chantry, as long as Cass has the Seekers in place. That to me sounds kind of cool actually. Mages and Seekers would be out and about, in open space. Seekers would be busy, for sure. Whether it's investigating or stamping out cults or just quieting down anti-mage mobs. But they'd grow strong under these conditions too.

It's more like bitter irony, the big bad deformed majister could not separate them, but the snivelling mewling inane chantry does. In the end, one is not too sure if the 'imperial chantry' is good for all people or not. I would say not.

It's ridiculous is what it is.
Especially ridiculous if you're a noble or mage.. and still fall for this duty/sacrifice crap. How much have you lost to the Chantry as it is? And you just saved the whole world. Give yourself a break. ![]()
I'd buy into Cass sort of giving it a bit of thought and ultimately deciding she'd keep a lover <.<
I mean seriously we talk to her about it PRE Divine.
Give it a week and i bet she crumbles like Liara in LOTSB.

The whole duty vs relationship thing is probably the one trope I dislike from Bioware.
It has no basis in reality. Millions of firefighters, soldiers, doctors, or whatever have families and a love life (if they wish). These are real heroes. The only exception are people like Jesus and Buddha. And that's not really something worth tapping into for fantasy. Why is it that we must live to the most demanding image of a self-sacrificial saint? That's way too much pressure.

Well to be fair the position she steps into isn't that of a soldier, doctor or firefighter but that of the Thedosian equivalent of a Pope.

Which makes it all the more ridiculous. To have your girlfriend become the pope... lol
Not really anything I've ever wanted/thought of/or imagined..... ever. People compare this to the Alistair choice, but that's totally different. That's Kings and Queens.. everyone imagines stuff like that. Women especially.

I never really got why she was a candidate to be honest; that puzzled me for a long while and still does.
But she pointed out that non chantry personal have been Divine but still....

I think she'd make a good one.. don't get me wrong.
Especially if you're in that frame of mind many of us were after DA2.. where you just wanted moderation and balance, and not extremes. She fits the bill there.
It's just... eh. Whatever. People can do what they want. I have to tell myself the world is fine either way. What's more important to me is the Seekers actually.

She played a pretty pivotal role in DA2. She may not have been a companion, but that hardly constitutes her as a minor character. I fail to see how my post was cynical at all, I'm merely pointing out that her comment was interesting given we know that the next game takes place in the northern regions of Thedas, one of which is Tevinter. Comparing that with the 3 possible outcomes she is given in DAI, they will really have to make up a good reason as to why she quit the Divine/Seeker/Inquisition to travel all the way north. The game does a good job of letting you know what's next for the characters, they declare their intentions either during the game or at the end. The only one who explicitly says "I'm going north" is Dorian. Every other companion has 2-3 different paths they can take. Varric included, going north is only possible if Hawke is alive. Otherwise he states that he's just going back to Kirkwall. Now I know people will say, look at what they did to Leliana/Oghren/Anders. However I think if Bioware really wants people to take them seriously, and given the huge emphasis on the Keep tapestry, they won't retcon every decision just to shoehorn a previous character into a new setting. The DAI Keep Tapestry will give us a pretty good idea if they recognize the different end states for each companion. So time will tell.
I get the feeling they're going to do...something...with the Divine wherein each choice is overthrown or abdicates in a relatively short amount of time, to be replaced by a Mother Gisele type person.
The end states for the Chantry/Templar/Circles are just too different. Unless Bioware is committed to never visiting Southern Thedas again, they'll have to do something to get everyone back on the same page.
And Cassandra reforming the Seekers doesn't mean she can't do anything else again, ever.
All that being said, I'm not saying Cassandra is likely in the next game, nor even should be in the next game. Just that it's not impossible.
I don't think so. If the next game were in Southern Thedas, I would be inclined to agree. But given they confirmed they are moving to Northern Thedas, and are done with the south and the Chantry it's pretty evident why they allowed us to change things so drastically in Southern Thedas. Of course it isn't possible. All they have to do is retcon her as they did with previous companions. The question is, are they going to continue doing that or are they going to commit to player choices. I have a feeling its the latter.
Also, just because the next game is in Northern Thedas doesn't mean they can't revisit Southern Thedas say 10-20 years from DAI. They could easily have the next few games take place in the north, and then come back down south after a time in which things could have changed from the events of DAI.

Just to add, I also was referencing ourselves/the players. Not just Cass. When we get lost in these games, it's easy to slip into more highminded ideals of duty and sacrifice, but I try to keep my eye on what that usually means. Sometimes people do in fact have to make great sacrifices, but life isn't so harsh that a hero is forbidden from love or happiness. I don't see that message enough in DA. It's there, but it isn't as prominent.
Funnily, I compared the Herald to Sisko/Emmisary earlier. I'm watching an episode right now where he defies the prophets and gets married. Like that's a big crime or something.

I think they do it just to add a layer of tragedy. IMO it feels sort of forced, but it isn't as if they force the option on you, you can avoid it. I've noticed this pop up in the latest season of Arrow as well, where he makes up this bs reason as to why he can't be with anyone - even someone in the same line of work. I'm all for it if it made sense. I will say though that in Cassandra's case it sort of does, she's very committed to the chantry and should she become Divine she doesn't want any distractions to get in the way of the tremendous amount of work she has to do to get things in order.
