Just saw the video of cass turning down a female inquisitor, and it was so well done. It was really mature in how she handeled it. Can cass get anymore amazing?
Is that a rhetorical question?

I saw that too and the thread about it, and I don't see what's the big deal. Are people amazed because she didn't shame her for being lesbian or something? If so... lol.
No, I think its more the writing. I have seen a lot of crap turn downs in games, and that wasn't on of them.
Like on what? Genuine question, as I can't recall many besides Samara and then Serana from TES. Sadface, but it made sense.
And the other Cass.... sadface. Oh, and Christine from FNV. Loved her interactions.
Cassandra.

Serana's isn't a turn down. She just doesn't marry you. Sadly, the game then spends the rest of the time pretending you're practically sleeping together. No matter what dialogue choices you make. Kind of annoying really.

True. Felt like a rejection, an understandable one, but yea, it kinda does imply that you have in one dialogue exchange which I forgot how it went.
It was something like "Turns out sleeping with something doesn't help you learn more about it."
"Are you saying you want to learn more about me?"
Which implies she's slept with you already.
edit: Offtopic done.
This Inquisitor just fits , to be fair though the Elven/Qunari/Dwarf Quizzies were a last minute kind of deal, when Bioware got that extra year of development they thought they could shoe them in and they did a decent job with them, as it stands however you can tell something is off , prime example of that is the Elven Inquisitor needing Morrigan ( who isnt even fluent in elvish ) to translate elven for him/her or getting called "shemlen " by another elf.
O and Merry Christmas!

Ya'll actually got mad at the turn downs in FNV and Skyrim? Don't get me wrong, I loved both of those games, FNV especially, but the companions in those games are so one dimensional that I really don't get into any kind of romantic interaction with them or care whether they turn me down or not.
Define mad. Was I raging? No. Disappointed? Yea, I'll easily admit that.
Tx
, well lets say that you are right about the implication of "shemlen " here , how do you explain the Elven Inquisitor inability to translate the language back at Temple, as i said i think they have done a very decent job with the other races, they just arent done as well as the human Inquisitor...IMO at least.
So, to change the subject a bit, I was reading another thread, I forget which, that was speculating on the Seeker abilities as they related to the darkspawn taint, specifically speculating that Seekers were immune or highly resistant to the darkspawn taint. I admit I got lost. Anybody know what I'm talking about and/or care to explain?
I know they cant be possessed by demons and are resistant to red lyriums but the taint, i havent seen anything in game that suggests that , i could be wrong though.

*drops by thread* Happy Holidays, Cassandra thread!

An entry written in the Inquisitor’s journal, found several years later:
BATTLEPLAN
Step 1: Memorize lines from Swords and Shields
Step 2: Ambush Cassandra Allegra Portia Callogera Filomena Pentaghast
Step 3: Dramatically whisper memorized lines on her ear
Step 3.5: Try not to laugh.
Step 4: She’ll probably glare. Keep on going until she laughs.
Optional (probably going to do it anyway)"Disgusted Noise" Tally: 4
- crack a very dirty joke or a cheesy joke
- get punched
- endure pain because you made her smile

Because it's always been important. Much to my chagrin Thedas is a human-centric continent. Meaning people who aren't human get shat on, because they're not human. While it's not something I'm fond of I do like that it adds a sense of realism to the world itself. So introducing that and then trivializing it in what would probably be the most relevant situation it could possibly be brought up in is a disservice to the IP.
I for one would love to play a human with an elven parent. This would allow me to RP a character that's proud of his heritage despite all the disadvantages that come with it.
But again, you act as if this is the case for every single character in Thedas when quite simply it isn't. You can't blanket the entire Southern Thedas with a statement like that. This wasn't an issue with romances even as far back as DAO, there's no reason for it to be an issue now. Bioware has introduced characters that have racial preferences in DAI, Cass simply put isn't one of them. Regardless of how Thedas as a whole feels about the other races, each individual can have differing opinons. That'd be like saying that everyone in America was a racist during the time of slavery, when that wasn't the case at all.
Naw, the elven Inquisitor going "herp derp who's Mythal?" and not going WTF when Nightmare talks to Solas... all of that is sloppy implementation.
I just think the shemlen comment was an intentional slight against the Dalish Quis.
O yea i forgot about the who is Mythal part ahah and im not saying you are wrong about the Shemlen bit as i am not really sure when its use is appropriate, i just thought it was weird since the only ones i have seen called " Shemlen " until now were humans.
I believe the true elves (the immortal ones you meet) will call all mortal races shemlen because thats what you are, a quicken race. One that has a short life and dies. Its not meant as an insult as much as stating fact. Its the same as if they just called you "mortal".
Edit: Its modern "quickened" elves that have turned shemlen into an insult. Remember that Shemlen does not mean human. It can reference any mortal race so your inquisitor will be called shemlen no matter his race because he is a mortal.

There is probably a reasonable explanation for the Dalish Inquisitor not freaking out at the convo between Nightmare and Solas...like they were speaking ancient elven...but then even I recognized some of the words and was like 'o really?'

Ah thanx, i should read the codex more ![]()

Comparing an ancient "true" elf to a modern "shemlen" elf is like comparing a donkey to a warhorse or at least thats how I'd imagine the ancient elves view their mortal cousins.
It also makes sense why we meet ancient elves that are still alive. The only way for Elves to retain the immortality/inherent magic is to be separate from humans (and likely any mortal race). This wasn't a problem with dwarves because they lives underground so contact with them wasn't for extended periods of time. But with how rapidly humans spread, the only way to retain immortality was to go to a separate realm which is apparently exactly what the nobles of ancient elven socirety did, dooming the elven lower classes to becoming shemlen aka mortal.
Seriously, after this game any Elf that knows the truth about their civilization should hate those true elves.
