Those pictures look sureal...
I'm new to the franchise, so I Initially assumed Cassandra would be this ice cold woman that blindly enforces the rules.
I couldn't be more wrong.

Only if you pick the top option.
The middle one talks about how this is why she has no friends. The bottom one just tells her to answer the question.

Guest_StreetMagic_*
Yeah, but she isn't the most social type anyways. I think going right to the Seekers at an early age didn't exactly encouraging socializing. Byron seemed to be her friend. And Galyan.
I like that one line she has with Solas how she says being out on the outside as an apostate must've been trying.
"People are trying."
"That is.... a good point."

I got a banter cue from Cassandra in the Emerald Graves today about how her ancestors often went dragon hunting there. It sounded like a romanticized daydream coming from her. So then I went dragon hunting and killed my favorite dragon even though I didn't want to. At least I got Ameridan's Helmet out of the deal.

Favorite dragon to kill, you mean.

Most beautiful. And stop being such a shemlen human. Stop trying to kill all the elves, dragons, and magic. Forreal bro.

I can only be what I am.
As can the dragon. We have an mutual understanding.
But yeah, never was one of those dragon afficinados very big in fantasy segments. The people with all the knick knacks and velvet paintings. Same goes for magic and ethereal stuff. I told you before, I've always been more on the Robert E Howard kick of fantasy. The chaotic barbarians, thieves, and adventurers. Who kill dragons and mages.
edit: technically this makes me more of a "sword and sorcery" fan, not fantasy per se.

Solas is my favorite DA:I companion (after Cass) because if Thedas was real and I were in it, we'd be eerily similar.

I like him from a distance, I'll say that. But I'm very unlike him. I enjoy people like him. Eggheads, basically. Like Mordin (but who's more extroverted). Weekes really knows how to write them.
As for dragons, I like how it's a little more of a social experience than before in DAI. Or can be roleplayed that way.

I see no reason to hunt them down other than getting the cheevo and crafting materials. I've already got the cheevo so I won't be killing them all again. Maybe just enough for a beastly staff. And definitely the ones in Emprise du Lion, because stability.

I understand. You're not alone, and I wouldn't make fun of you for it (if I sounded like that earlier). I see so many people who don't care for killing dragons. Even among Skyrim fans lol.

Skyrim is a different story. Dragonborn are powerlusting douchnozzles if you go by lore. I make it a mission to kill as many dragons as I can. Tiber Septim didn't become a deity by being a good guy.
In Dragon Age they're going extinct and wiping them out could have some serious repercussions if Morrigan is to be believed.

You might not like this, but I think my ultimate goal in DA.. (maybe not goal.. because it'll never be realized) is enforcing as much normalcy as possible. As Solas says to Cass and her Seeker/Templar powers. "You enforce reality." I like that about her skillset. I wish I was as cool.
Whatever created this so called "reality" of the material and mundane world, I like it. It's just a struggle keeping it in control.. the veil breaks, magic abounds, fantasical creatures break through. I want to put it all in submission to whatever this material "reality" is.
It's not a fight I'll ever win.. but it's something I'm happy for fight for..
Every once awhile at least. I have all kinds of characters. But so far, even my mages are very reality based types. To me, it's the source of their strength. It gives them strong Willpower to resist demons and spirits and not revel in things like Solas does with the Fade.
Haven's Battle was the hardest encounter on Nightmare for me + i am playing with Friendly Fire on so it was quite intense. But the satisfaction in the end felt similar like killing a boss in Dark Souls...
Spoiler
Blackwall stands here. Cassandra stands there. Spam Wall of Fire. Me and Solas keep up them barriers. Haven is ****** easy the way I did it. Now those Beacons in the Fallow Mire. **** that ****.

And I'll be busy maintaining the balance between magical and mundane. Too much magic and the Veil is gone. Too little and I'm sure the BW writers have something up their sleeves. I imagine if all magic or things of magical nature were gone Thedas would be in for another catastrophe just as threatening as the Breach. A reverse Breach if you will.

I can't think of what's so threatening about it.. Really, magic is most cases is underutilized anyways. The Circles, for example, were first created as a good weapon for the blights. But that rarely happens. Mages aren't out affecting people's lives otherwise, except the occassional apostate. Who don't seem to be do anything productive.
Reverse breach would basically be like Earth, year 2014... 2:24 AM ![]()
OTOH, the most extreme expression of enforcing a "reality" is the kind the Qun engage in. Unlike Solas who sees double natures to things, the Qunari hone in one nature.. and it's often ridiculous.
What got you interested in a series called, Dragon Age then, Street, whose very first installation had demonspawn from hell destroying the world with a magical dragon? With an order created by magic to combat magic, caused by magic. And then every succeeding title is about magic? I mean if I didn't like IMAGINATION-powers, I wouldn't even smell, let alone play, this ****.

Bioware in general.. Hero's Path stories in general. The character interactions. Always been good at it, regardlless of what genre they tap into.
Also, I like swords.

You're applying Earth rules to Thedas' planet. We don't know what laws they operate under. Hell, we don't even know all of the laws we operate under. And they (the characters) don't fully know theirs. You think it's a good thing, but magic is an integral part of the ecology. Take that away and bad things happen. We just don't know what yet.
It'd be like removing gravity from Earth.

It's not a basic part, as far as I can tell.
It wouldn't be a bad thing if it was! But magic hasn't been that impactful, at least since Andraste. They don't even seem to affect basic things for people. Like when Javaris want that gun powder, and Hawke doesn't see the big deal.. that he could use magic for his uses. Which is the furthest thing from Javaris' mind. He doesn't have much (or any) access to that.

It is a basic part. Are you forgetting that the Veil is an artificial construct? We don't know who built it and why (there are hundreds of theories post-DA:I) but we do know it didn't always exist. Meaning spirits, demons, dragons, gods, and magic.... all part of the world. Just separated for convenience or so we think.

Don't get me wrong. I'm curious to find out more about that.
I'm just saying. I find a sense of enjoyment in being the person who fights it. That is a fun story in itself to me. And mark my words, they will always make room for characters like this.. I'll always have dialogue options to express dislike on such things. They don't write all of this to merely enjoy it all. Just the same way they don't write every character to be liked (or universally liked). ![]()
edit: Actually, I'm reminded of a Xena episode where they killed most of the Olympians. I love that ****. That's the direction I'm going for. Where mortals kick out the mystic and forge something else.
