Don't get me wrong. I'm curious to find out more about that.

I'm just saying. I find a sense of enjoyment in being the person who fights it. That is a fun story in itself to me. And mark my words, they will always make room for characters like this.. I'll always have dialogue options to express dislike on such things. They don't write all of this to merely enjoy it all. Just the same way they don't write every character to be liked (or universally liked). :)

Well you go on ahead with your defiance of gravity, maybe you'll be DA's version of the Wright Brothers. Me, I'll be joining the Magical Preservation Society.

On another note, it's kind of a subtle direction they've take Morrigan. For a mage, she used to be very much about this. Or rather, she prided her autonomy over everything. She saw magic as merely something to be controlled. And had no love for demons or spirits alike. She wasn't fascinated by why these things existed or who/what started it.. she was utilitarian. There was merely power to be had. I think she's incorporated something else now. She's concerned about other worlds or what kind of possibilities can exist for this one.

That's silly. I'm not defying gravity. You act like I'm luddite for not being mystical.

Which is just bizarre.

Science is something yet to be tapped into. I would happily like see it. Best we got is some signs from dwarves and Qunari.. and that doctor in Skyhold who thinks science is the future of medicine.

She was always concerned about 'other worlds'. She says that shapeshifting is a near lost art and she's happy to be a practitioner. She mentions that the Dark Ritual is a means of preserving Urthemiel while destroying the corruption that polluted it. Ect.

I know it's been a while so you might not remember it. But she's always been about preservation. Just more subtle.

It's not a basic part, as far as I can tell.

You mean besides the fact literally everything not connected to some form of magic is an emotionless freak? I mean even dwarves are connected to something.

Oh and another thing, for a TES fan, it's weird that you're basically championing the equivalent of the elven cause.

I'm all about Shor.. and the power of dirty men and women. :D

Yeah, modern nords have got it all wrong. They used to be as magical as elves. Every other nord was a Thu'um toting Tongue with the power to shatter mountains with a word. The Oblivion Crisis and the Great War is what made them boring vikings.

You would have to be mage to know that, though, Archmage to exact, so I doubt most people even are aware. Either that or somehow get through Daggerfall and find one of twenty billion books.

Yo, you don't have to tell me. I named my nord Dragonborn Ysmir and was a Bound Axe wielding Sorcerer.

Connected is one thing. Which is basically just dreaming and having a subconscious psyche that shapes our emotions. It doesn't mean I need the equivalent of synthesis. "Oooh.. can't we all just blend and get along with the AI." In this case, AI is demons/spirits.

But ultimately, what I don't see here is a message about magic. But more of Bioware's recent agenda about multiculturalism and universalism.

Bringing up an old argument again lol, this time on topic.

When your character tells you that Cassandra seems idealistic, it's in reference to giving handouts, feeding people with low or no money, that sort of thing. I don't know about where you all live, but where I live, that's certainly not a typical conservative outlook. Not mine either, when we don't have the cash to be handing out money to every sap lacking a job, or every person that wanders into our country illegally.

Anyway, just wanted to throw that out, there.

Yet still infinitely more interesting than the current imperials ;) I think the Stormcloaks make up for that, personally, even if you don't like them.

It is a basic part. Are you forgetting that the Veil is an artificial construct? We don't know who built it and why (there are hundreds of theories post-DA:I) but we do know it didn't always exist. Meaning spirits, demons, dragons, gods, and magic.... all part of the world. Just separated for convenience or so we think.

We actually do not know it is an artificial construct and that it was built.  It's could still be a natural phenomenon despite all that. The Dwarves and lyrium are both suggested to have been created by the slaying of a giant living mountain after all (and Tranquility is also connected to this). What stop this creature slaying also creating the Veil?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm the mean DM that requires people to actually have some medical skill if they're going to use healing magic. Sure you can reknit broken bones and torn muscle/skin with a spell, but if you don't do the required prep work that magic's going to do more harm than good.

Most of the conservative minded folks I know aren't necessarily opposed to those things, they just don't want their government specifically to be doing it. They feel it's more the province of religious and charitable organizations.

Of course, in Dragon Age, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of governmental assistance, so the question of whose role it is is sort of moot.

Indeed, that is true. The Chantry... there isn't really a good way to compare their setup with the chantry to my country, so I won't bother doing so.

It's kind of the medieval view of the place of the church. The church was really the only social support around, for the poorest of the poor. Of course, some abbeys and churches lost sight of this and began benefitting only themselves, but for hundreds of years, the church was the only institution that cared for the poor. Governments were there to consolidate power for the benefit of the ruling class, not to help the poor.

Cassandra's thinking would be very much in place with a Church reformer in say, 1450.

(Cullen and Dorian approach the Inquisitor)

Dorian: Maker! Is some one burning a wyvern?!

Cullen: Sir, what in the world are you doing?

Inquisitor:  Wooing, Commander.  I am wooing.

Dorian:  I don't think that's an actual term.

Inq:  Preforming a ballad, then.

Dorian: I will pay you to stop that.

Cullen: And I'll chip in.
