She'd never recover from it probably. She already says she'll be thinking about what ifs with Justinia for the rest of her life.

That's why somebody needs to write a fic about it!

Or if she left as Divine, I'd like the option to commit suicide.. the game is pointless without her.. and Bioware should recognize that. lol. I like my companions more than this protagonist they gave me.

If not death, just let me become a mad hermit. :D

You know, I have been tinkering with the headcanon of my inquisitor. I have grown fond of the idea of his experience of being the inquisitor alongside Cassandra breaking up with him for the sake of duty left him pretty much to be a bitter man. He technically moves on and even marries another woman, if only for policital gain, but he never loves her. Nor does he even tolerate for even a second of hearing any of his children speaking of being in love.

Clichë, yes, but I love sappy stories.

I sometimes think about that... is it weird that I think about romanced character's reactions at eachother's deaths? Lol I do this in with my Skyrim roleplay character and his partner as well. The sads is oddly enjoyable.

Nah, it is normal. For me, the only reason to have good natured heroes in stories is to have the story in question either kill them, break them or corrupt them.

If the Inquisitor dies, I hope it'll be my own stupidity. And not her fault. Or if she left as Divine, I'd like the option to commit suicide.. the game is pointless without her.. and Bioware should recognize that. lol. I like my companions more than this protagonist they gave me.

With that melodramatic attitude I don't know how he's managed not to jump off Judicael's Bridge yet. Sigrun comes to mind. Woe is me. WOE!! The darkness consumes me!!

Faith. ;)

Something he lacks a bit on his own.

My Inquisitor would be bitter too if the break up is official. I mean his Warrior-Nun girlfriend leaves him to become a Popesse (is that a word?) and all his bros leave to either the Fade, Kirkwall, Vyrantium, the Wardens, or Par Vollen. WTF guys? No break up drink?

I'd stroll into either Qun land or black thedas, and just **** everything up until someone finally ends it.

I really don't want suicide though... now that I mentioned heathcliff, I want to see that instead. That dude became a gigantic assh*le. It'd be fitting for my Inquisitor if he lost more to the Chantry. He's already a mage, he already lost his family.. he goes above and beyond to help the chantry and save the world despite that.. but losing love would push him over the edge.

I'll just beat up a Dragon to feel better about myself.

All the dragons.

And you know what? Those Dalish have been living comfortably for a little too long. Lets **** with them too. And maybe kick a few stray dogs.

Nah, I'd somehow find a way to unleash more dragons on the world.

Nah man. Conscripted Mages/Cassandra Divine is the best ending. Circle of Magi become Jedi Order and Venatori hold overs become the Sith. My Inquisitor (who is a mage cause let's face it, Cassandra loves mages) would probably have his hands full with that.

Anyone ever see Last Temptation of Christ?

This is why that take on the story bothers me so much. Jesus' last Temptation was a simple life and falling in love. He couldn't have the most normal thing imaginable, without destroying the world.

Exactly.

What is the point of heroes in stories if not to have them suffer?

I'm not Christian. I have no problem accepting Jesus was a family man before he was baptized.

It literally does nothing to his purpose.

It doesn't matter. Just look at the story on it's own terms and what themes it's trying to propose. If you haven't seen it, check it out. It's Scorsese directed... and umm.. David Bowie is Pontius Pilate :D

It's just playing on the standard mythos, and what that entails for Jesus.

What I don't like is expecting heroes to live up to this level of sacrifice. Bioware keeps being bombastic like this. They're not satisfied with writing heroes really. They write Messiahs. It's the only thing I hate about them.

Hawke and the Hero of Ferelden were definitely not messiahs. Other than Shepard, the Inquisitor (more so in fact) is their only messianic PC.

Hawke is a good exception, I'll give you that. I rather like it.

Default HoF is definitely Messianic. The themes throughout the game play it up even before the end. Especially Wynne's dialogue (to her credit, she lives up to some of those ideals herself in Asunder).

Lets not even mention Shepard. I'll start cutting myself.

edit: As for Inquisitor, it's more that I'm saying the ideal choice is messianic. This ending you prefer and try to sell me on so much. You can blow it out your ass. ;)

Theme of DA:O is redemption.

Wardens - redemption

Loghain - redemption

Zathrian - redemption

Branka - redemption

Leliana - redemption

Sten - redemption

Oghren - redemption

There's probably more there. It's less about 'look at me, I'm the hero' and more about 'let me steer this bastard on the right course because everybody needs to fight the blight'.

Oh, how I would love that to be so. It's how I've always wanted to view it.. I love ending with Loghain. And yeah, I see parallels with Zath and Branka, etc..

It's just that this whole sacrificial thing is kind of winking at me at the other side of room, making me feel guilty for doing something wrong. :P

Only certain origins fit a redemption arc for the PC, however.  E.G, Human Noble, and both Dwarven origins.

Failing to save their parents. Or you can at least play it that way. IE, Batman.

Ah, I see. I never blamed it on myself.. it's all on Howe.

My HN is a dick. He still holds a grudge and kills Nate too.

Yessir. I always thought Origins' Warden Helmet looked suspiciously like Batman's Cowl from behind.

Well, yes.  It's still an RPG after all.  But the tracks are laid for a redemption are for the PC, assuming the origins fit.  There nothing really in the Mage or Elf origins that lends to that, however.  Probably why I didn't gravitate to them.

(Edit: That and because humans rock)
