That.... actually sounds like a very insulting statement Streetmagic. Not only does it basically equate what we do to the antics of a child, but it also comes across in a very elitist sort of way. As if there's only one method to play the games or with toys, in this own little sandbox corner of ours.

I'm not gonna lie, it also has undercurrents of trying to stifle imagination from what I gather from it. And that's.... never something I can get behind.

I will not apologize for enjoying playing with the content of the toy box Bioware handed to me. Shaming me, calling me names, assuming things on my sexual life is not going to change that in any way.

I think what he's trying to say is he doesn't like to see relationship choices for characters made with little or no thought, though of course that is still an assumption, and who people decide to play as and who they decide to roll Cassandra with doesn't necessarily need to go further than preference.

But I admit, I do wonder often times if people put any thought at all in their characters when they roll certain things. But it's still just an assumption. One that I make from the background of the qunari and dwarves, and the plot of the story.

You don't have to apologize. I'm being as blunt as possible, and wouldn't expect any different. I just have to be honest. I respect if you are too.

But toy box is what it's becoming. And kills my buzz a little. I want a serious RPG. They had a specific story in mind, and people just cried about their various wishlists, not even caring what the actual story was. And after ME3, I think they were afraid to lose anyone. I hope in the future, the games aren't designed by consensus and pressure again.

I put it this way earlier.. think I'll try again. throwing it out there.

I like kids. They're imaginative and don't take things as seriously as I do. Sometimes when kids play with toys, it's all very random. They have a pile of batman figures, monster trucks, sci-fi spaceships, and their sister's barbie doll thrown in the mix. And they somehow have fun with all of them, making them interact, and doing random things that batman or barbie don't really do. Or they grab a lego man and make him drive the monster truck. Or whatever. And he crashes into the spaceship and saves the world. And barbie and batman get married. And make lego man the godfather or their baby. Yay!

It's cute. It annoys me though when the same randomness is in adults. And that's all I say. :P

I like how you keep adding smileys after everything-  as if it makes all the questionable and judgemental things you say okay.

I am a writer. Every decision I've made in my games since DA:O are done with careful thinking. I'm planing things on the long term. But because I'm rolling a dwarf rather than a human, I'm assumed a fetishist and a freak and not a storyteller. Maybe you can imagine how upsetting those kinds of assumptions are?

They are OK. You couldn't pay me to admit any guilt or moral wrong here. It's not happening.

So you are actively annoyed by what other people do in their games.

That's actually pretty funny.

Gaider didn't want to put an actual Qunari in, because the culture is so hated by many fans. But he was iffy on just including the race alone.. he used the word fetish specifically and knew it'd just revolve around that. But something got in the way of those reservations and they did it anyways.

I need to see the source for this.

On another note, talking about dwarves, can I just say the dwarf in your avatar is awesome? One of the better ones I've seen.

I had no luck with the dwarf CC. Made one that was decent but then discovered there was a massive gap between his jaw and beard that made me ragequit after looking at it for too long. Couldn't manage to recreate it afterwards. Kinda bummed about that.

I can, but it's hardly unreasonable, given how little the game gives us to work with. Not the fetish and freak part, lol. The leaning to preference part I mean. I reserve the fetish judgement for Qunari. Dwarves, I dunno, the dwarf thing's a lot more uncommon.

Not saying it's right, but I do doubt the majority of dwarven characters have much to them. Simply because there's not much potential there in this installment. It's less a judgement on you and more of the developers.

Gaider says some questionable things at times.  Really he does I recall him talking vaguely about it but I don't have a source to provide.

Aw, thanks. Yeah, I am really pleased with how my dwarf guy turned out. I think your qunari lady looks awesome.

Hmm.. this is a problem. Here's one article, but it's only point back to old BW forums, so the link is broken. It was more about earlier stages of Iron Bull and general stuff about Qunari.. Maybe you can find the original discussion easier than I.

When it affects the original course of development or drastically changes the possibilities for major lore and factions, yeah.

It's called being a fan. And by a fan, I mean more than just a fan of singular elements (humans/dwarves/etc..). I like the world to click better than this.

I hope we are. I really do. But when things are admittedly called a "toybox", it just confirms my example about children earlier. And I will say I am a better fan than that.

If you're having fun at the setting's expense, then yes. I'd prefer fans let things envelop them, let a story be told to them, rather force their way into it another way.

It's iffy if it really is at the setting's expense though. Bioware made the decision to open the story more than originally planned. Now the setting is a little more random. It's official. I have to deal with that. So it's not like I'm saying you should stop. Nor could I. I'm not that full of myself.

While I like having race options back, it seems like they're more in there because it was a fan request than any actual story reasons. Granted, my nostalgia for DAO is more for the origin stories themselves since everything is a bit of a drag up until the Landsmeet.

Yep, when I heard they were adding races back... I assumed they came with origins stories, but obviously that didn't happen because these were added later in development.

...having fun at the setting's expense? What the hell are you talking about now? Because I'm exploring options I have been given to by Bioware itself?
