I don't think you have to outright make tyrannical or selfish choices to be so. All it takes is a little pride, and to think you have all the answers, to muck everything up.

Indeed.  But I mean choices that are right or at least seem right given certain ideological choices and given Thedas is pretty fraked up.  So someone, like an Inquisitor, could see all the corruption and choas and conclude that is the fualt of the power structures of the continent and then set out to change them for the better.  So, in essence, exile the Wardens, kill Celene and leave Gaspard in charge with Briala as his number two, Disband the Templar Order, ostensiablly leaving the surviving mages free with Leilianna as Divine.  In short it leaves the Inquisition with a lot of very real power.  Even if that power is not used tyranically by the

'original Inquisitor' future ones could certainly abuse it.  In such an arrangement all the previous orders that were powers in Thedas would be no more.  The Inquisition would have no checks.

Heck, to add a further sense of deliciousness to this scenario, if I go through with this playthrough my head cannon has Briala replacing Leilianna as the Inquisition's spy master.

I'm only considering it, because Leliana dies, tbh, lol. I could accept if it lead the way for the next game to have Orlais' downfall, lead by General Cassandra in revenge of andraste's chosen or something. Lol

Actually she wouldn't survive the battle.

She won't leave the PC's side, regardless of belief, treatment of her, romance status or what have you.

She believes.

And she ends up dying for it.

Blackwall as well dies, the only people to actually walk away from the PC's old team are the people you'd expect to do that.

Sera, Varric, Vivi and maybe, just maybe.

Iron Bull.

The rest more or less die fighting a never ending stream of foes.

I'll make her leave. Because if I'm losing to Orlais, I'm going out like a boss.

Once they've taken Skyhold, and they think they've captured me, I swallow them, and the entire fort up with me into the fade, where we'll remain for good.

End Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Unless you managed to really ****** Sera off I couldn't see her leaving. Her lines in 'In Hushed Whispers' alludes to some significant loyalty to the Herald and would go down fighting, hard.

I was thinking something less dramatic; something more somber and chilling.

I was thinking the PC would be dragged before the Orlesian Commander and basically just be beheaded.

No timely intervention, No magical rescue, No ancient magic, Nothing.

I think it would wrap things up nicely, the destruction of the Inquisition, the death of the Herald.

Na, something's gotta happen with the key for me. And opening up in the fade means we can decide if our guy's actually "dead" or not.

Fair enough.

I was thinking the ending slide could play as a backdrop fell on Skyhold as the camera pulled away on the crumbling and burning fortress, you could have Orlesian knights and common field soldiers running across the battlements fighting, you might see a companion fighting or two, you could make out the banners of the Inquisition on the battlements being cast down and then the screen goes black and the credits play.

.-.

I personally think there shouldn't be any ambiguity but if i was actually writing for Bioware, the trainwreck of DAI's plot never would have frigging happened in the first place.

I think I'd do pretty well with DA to be honest.

I know exactly what'd I do with the universe from the Qunari Invasion to ideas more my own.

And of course that includes a proper orlesian civil war and mage rebellion.

I hate to say I would not have used the Breach but rather something entirely different.

I don't doubt that the implementation of tactical involvement and larger degree of realism and human stories would be awesome, but the inevitable Orlesian favoritism we'd get would get tiresome after a while =P

Yep. Talk about the part where I kill all known chevalier at least, and I'm down. Maybe Tevinter even takes some land.

We seriously talking?

I wouldn't favor Orlais as anything more then a construct to move the plot.

Like the Akatsuki in my fanfiction.

Detachment from my personal opinion is one of the first and my opinion most crucial writing skills a decent author can learn.

If anything I was going to push the Empire harder then it ever had been pushed, I'd have had the possibility of Nevarra invading during the civil war.

Tevinter plotting in the background and more.

Why so suprised we're talking? lol
You write Naruto fanfiction? got any uploaded somewhere?

Hopefully if Nevarra invades in the civil war theytry to take a bit more than one city this time, or at least ttarget Val Chevin. If Gaspard ended up winning there'd be nothing better than the new Emperor having to deal with his Duchy being in the hands of the enemy and the loss of prestige that follows, as well as the Nevarrans being within striking distance of the capital. Though if the civil war were to play out properly I actually get the impression Celene would have won, I got the impression that Gaspard had an advantage in the form of better generals and captains. But Celene having a massive logistical advantage.
I mean we know she had all the high nobility on the council of heralds (Montfort, Ghislain etc) I imagined it being like the American civil war in that sense. but yeah I don't actually know any of this, this is just impressions I got..

And If Celene did win the throne than the Empire would be to busy with its balls and infighting that is the game to throw off any further plotting from Tevinter lol, Heck Tevinter would just take further advantage of the game.

This Epilogue slide where Gaspard invades Ferelden doesn't seem to exist so idk what he'd do without the Inquisition around, perhaps just fortify both borders for the most part and focus on regaining Orlais's strength for the time being. Then eventually invade Ferelden, hopefully Markus is dead at that time, though Gaspard probably would be to, guys an old man already.
Would that mean another civil war? Does Gaspard have kids we don't know about? Who would the throne fall to? He mentioned his other cousins whoever they are.
Wish we knew more about Nevarra, If its one of those countries with all its strength tied up in its dynastys and such, To hard to tell the result of the civil war if there ends up being one.
Whether its drawn out or brief with a strong new monarch taking the throne.

Gah to many variables, get a job at bioware and fix this for me Warder

Well to be honest...I should have been hired after DA 2.

I have little interest in the current narrative.

It has potential obviously if they spin it the right way but...to be honest...I don't know.

Mmm maybe if I got offered a job writing storyboards I'd take it, We can see the aftermath of the Breach.

But unless if Bioware retcons DAI I want nothing to do with it.

After it maybe but not now.

Gimme DA4 and I'll give critically acclaimed narrative.

The collapse of the Imperium would be the work of my lifetime.

Also I have work on fanfiction.net, adult fanfiction, Deviant Art and elsewhere.
