No insult taken (though, frankly, Tali's passivity at the end of the Rannoch arc is very out-of-character; the leaked script was closer to the mark).

Javik pretty much says what you're saying: "It seems your Quarian is pleased with your choice. Perhaps she will reward you with a reproductive ritual."

Liara, particularly ME1's "I'm here in this bubble! I'm trapped! I need help!" followed by immediately trying to get in Shepard's pants was... *sigh* Stopping here.

Wait he said that?  Awww I miss all of Javik's good lines. :(

David, please.

There is no need to pretend that there is anything going on with these "romances" other than providing a certain demographic with the girl of their dreams.

Shy, clumsy, hero-worshiping AND a virgin, can they make it any more obvious that these characters are carefully calculated nerdbait?

We can enjoy this silly fan service for what it is but lets not delude ourselves into thinking it is anything more than that.

Another of Javik's trolls about Tali and Shepard.

Javik- "And nothing about this cycle is what I expected. Even primitive Quarians were considered attractive in my age. A pity no one can appreciate it now. Except for perhaps, the Commander?"

Tal-"What? how do you know..."

Javik-*evil laugh*

Debating whether Barq's last post was worth responding to... food first.

Already passed on it myself. I figured you were gonna do it. If not, meh. She can be happy the asari's honor is safe for today.

XD

Almost tempts me into replaying ME3 with Javik ASAP.

Almost.

@Darks: XD I heard that one but still Javik is easily one of the gems in ME3.

"Safe" as in "buried with Jimmy Hoffa." If she wants to keep telling herself the beacon was the only artifact in the temple (hint: don't look at what's under the floor when Shepard falls through), that it was completely useless and no good would have come from relocating it where it was accessible to researchers from all species and NOT accessible to Cerberus, that's her business.

"I never thought this day would come..."
"None of us did. I'm... sorry. You were warned three years ago, Councilor. No one gets to hide anymore."

What's worse is I can have Renedouche gleefully cracking jokes about killing the Rachni, shoot Wrex, Trick the Krogan into extinction, Shrug about shooting Mordin, kill the Quarians/Geth and go "well they brought it on themselves" but when the asari time comes he's all of a sudden guilty for something that's not even remotely his fault.

I HC my renedouche inwardly screaming "WHAT THE ****?" XD

Must be those Asari pheromones affecting his judgment.

Saving Thessia was so far outside the scope of Shepard's mission there, it's not even funny.

That is now my headcanon. Asari have mindcontrol. It even works for why all the races find them sexy. Even Mordin!

I've never shot Mordin, but I have to say, after it's done, you can see him/her clearly toss the pistol away afterward, as if distressed over the decision. A Shepard that doesn't care would probably have just holstered it and walked away.

Could've just been throwing away the evidence :P Seriously though it's a silent action that could be seen in multiple ways. (Like what a waste of a perfectly good resource). You are tossing the gun he gave you in ME2 after all. I don't have any issue with Shep's slumped shoulders after Thessia because that can be explained in any number of IC ways that aren't just restricted to the ones the devs envisioned.

(My shrug comment was more during the conversation where you talk about Mordin giving his life. I'm not sure if I'm bugging or not but my paragon and renegade seemed to have different tones when they said he would not. My paragon sounded more torn and my renegade more cool about it). Or maybe I just haven't played in a while XD

Liara in me1 is ridiculous in quite a few ways, much improved in 2 though.

I do wonder though if liara is the conduit for more general asari dislike.
Or whether she is just the catalyst that set it off.

Hell, I'll tell you Miranda's purpose: In the words of Casey Hudson, she was a character designed to be a femme fatale and temptress to more or less sway Shepard from the true path.

That path being the guy who snaps his heels together and salutes that garbled transmission en route to Mars?

To jump back to the OT, something else I found awkward was LotSB, how Shepard leaps to Liara's rescue and lands in a spooning position, potentially while your actual love interest gets pummeled by a table and later wordlessly leaves the room so you can hug Liara again.

Except she acts like neither a femme fatale nor a temptress.

Keep in mind I'm not disliking her character.  Just saying that characterization of her is, well, wrong.

That's because it's hilariously out of date.

But never mind that, "art" is abound!

I don't know but she sure as hell is a conduit for the blue brigade. I have yet to meet a single user that likes only one or two asari characters and is willing to admit their faults, the faults of the others, or of the race as a whole.

And personally I preferred her ME1 personality. I don't find the jump she did in ME2 believable in the least.

Liara, particularly ME1's "I'm here in this bubble! I'm trapped! I need help!"

Y'know, in a recent playthrough of ME3, I discovered the line where Tali playfully mocks Liara for her incident with the bubble, complete with the accent. It was one of the funniest things I've heard. Tali laughed, I laughed, Liara sneered, and it was great. And I'm a Liaramancer. People need to laugh more.

Sup. I love Liara to bits, but there are things wrong with Liara. I dislike Samara. I dislike Tevos. The asari government made lots of mistakes with the beacon. Their graphical design is uninspired.

Now, at least, you can say you've met one.

Now I've gotta find that clip... does that only happen if you romance Liara or something? Sounds like the kind of thing they'd have put in the Citadel DLC.

BSN makes me laugh all the time.

I was quite fond of Liara while hating the concept of asari in general--I'd dearly love them to disappear and never return. But in 3, she finally felt like a Mary Sue. She changes radically between games, but now she veers between her two incarnations in the same game. She's talked up as hypercompetent, but she never gets any onscreen moments of competence. Her homeworld falling is treated as a uniquely distressing event, when most of the squad has their homes fall to the Reapers. Her relationship is privileged over anyone except possibly Garrus.' So yeah, affection evaporated.

Here. Not sure what criteria you need to meet for it, but I'm glad I found it. If the characters can screw with each other without getting upset, the fans should be able to as well. Which is why these threads make me sad.

Also, if you take her to steal back the Normandy, she cites the bubble as her reason for not wanting to go into the crawlspace. So at least she can appreciate self-deprecating humour.
