I see another Liara thread veering into...er interesting direction

I'm a fan of this Sheploo response myself. It never fails to make me laugh.

Yup that one is gold. Thankfully I never encountered it. Though Sheploo for some reason keeps looking in glymph's direction or sideways during some conversations with Liara in her cabin in ME3

It'd be sort of like the Witch Hunt DLC, where gossip in the mage tower assumes your Warden went on the various romps at The Pearl even if you were chaste throughout.

(Not a fan of the Liara kid myself - only one out of four Shepards romanced her, and that one dumped her after ME1.)

 

I need to finish DA:O one of these days. It's just that... I suck at it. Seriously, I can finish ME on Insanity no sweat and struggle with DA on Normal. It's quite amusing really... that is, it would be, if it weren't so pathetic...

 

And no worries. For your Shepard that dumped her, all four of mine stayed loyal to her, so I'd say it more than balances out

Try 'rioting in the streets.' Shepard and Liara's daughter as the PC would basically mean that Liara proceeded to rape Shepard to produce a child with them if Liara was not the romance (not to mention the fact that it would mean that she held on to Shepard's DNA in order to impregnate herself at some point if the 'gift' on Earth was turned down, which I always do). That would be an affront not just to anyone who doesn't romance her but also to her own fans, because it really does go against her character for her to do such a thing. I have my issues with the way that Liara is handled in the series that I've said in this thread and many others, but I've gotten to a place where I take what is in 'canon' and whack it into alignment with a headcanon that makes it acceptable to me (treating her unquestioning loyalty to Shepard as a character flaw of hers, for example). Making her into a rapist, someone who took Shepard's DNA to impregnate herself just to have their child... That is a seriously character damaging flaw, the kind which needs A LOT of work to come back from, if possible. Liara's current handling makes me uncomfortable at best.

 

If Liara kept Shepard's DNA and used it to get pregnant I don't think that's rape. There's no unwilling sexual violation.

 

It'd be some kind of consent violation. But not rape.

 

If it was through the "gift" then yes, that would be rape.
