That's a very interesting thought, and perhaps it will take the Inquisitor being recognized as a Paragon for there to be a caste for Inquisition Dwarves... Or at least blessing/acceptance of them. I wouldn't doubt that a Dwarf Inquisitor would become a Paragon, if they saved Orzammar by sealing up a Veil tear.

A Veil Tear underground, that has to scare the dwarves.

However, maybe we're thinking of Orzammar too much. What about Kal-Sharok? They have a different culture, and perhaps a different way of udnerstanding the Stone and the Paragons. I don't know much, I haven't read WoT.

Also, Kal-Sharok was responsible of the destruction of the Cadash Thaig. Who knows what happened to that family, maybe they became surfacers. Wouldn't it be ironic if the Cadash return to nobility would be because the city who destroyed them named the Inquisitor a Paragon?

Oooo... Kal-Sharok is so creepy! But besides, yeah, it'd be nice if they perhaps expanded on where the Dwarf Inquisitor is from, so we can get a good idea of their official culture/religious beliefs. Annnnd, I love historical irony. It's funny to laugh about, especially when it's not too soon to be distasteful.

You are preaching to the choir right now, yes!!!! Yes a million times over! The chantry is the epitomy of hypocrisy in their reverence of Andraste.

I think it's impossible for any dogmatic religions based on the worship of a god or gods to exist without hypocrisy. The Chant seems extra hypocritical in comparison to the flexibility of the Qun, and the Elves have more of a culture than a religion:at the very least the creators don't seem to have any divine mandate; the same goes for the Dwarves.

The Chantry exists and operates in a world filled with intrigue and political disputes. And it's made up of thousands of different people. You have polar opposites like Elthina, who sees the Chantry as a"gentle Mother" and Lambert/Meredith who believe in harsher approaches; all of them are devout Andrastians. Basically, I just think it's mostly useless to accuse a giant religion of hypocrisy; especially given the context it exists in.

Even in our limited exposure to the other religions of Thedas we see their hycrosies as well--

Dwarves- we are all children of the stone, except for those of us who are casteless or no longer live underground. They aren't children of the stone anymore.  Well they are if the make a huge sacrifice or join the grey wardens, but other then that they are nothing.  Unless a casteless has a son by the nobility, then they are again children of the stone along with their entire family. But thats it.

Dalish-We don't consort with spirits, except for when we do to benefit our knowledge or further our revenge plots.  There is also no

Qun-  We don't see how you can attach significance to an unknown god that is you have never seen, but we will basically throw our entire life away if we lose our sword.

NOTE to READERS: This isn't an attack on those religions just a basic idea of quick hypocrisies I could think of to demonstrate the idea of calling a religion hypocritical is ridiculous.  No Lob, I don't need a defense of the Dalish.  I am not attacking them.  No Dragon I don't need a defense of the dwarves I am not attacking them either.

Its not prescreening, such a response from Lob would only be needed if I had some anti Dalish sentiment. It was merely an example and in no way reflects some need for me to prove said example correct.  It would be a waste of time and energy to debate it.

My detractors certainly enjoyed how you phrased it, as the prior page addresses.

I've wanted to discuss that for a while. Seems like it says quite a bit about the true nature of the Qunari.

Well, it wasn't meant for them. The purpose was I didn't want you or Dragon taking umbrage and sparking an unecessary debate I wasn't seeking to have.

Eh, I don't really see this as a Dalish hypocrisy. Even if you argue that Merrill and Zathrian were hypocrites they are just two Dalish individuals and hardly represent the whole culture. Unlike the Chantry, Dwarves and the Qun I don't think there are many hypocrisy that are really institutionally Dalish--which is more of a result of the wandering and disjointed nature of Dalish culture than anything to do with the Dalish being particularly noble (as we've seen, some Dalish elves -- Tamlen, Zathrian, Velanna-- are quite the opposite of noble).

As the Maker, I find my followers to be the greatest of all Thedosians. They are so obedient. But of course, they have no other option.

No, I was responding to you. You said "All these religions have examples of hypocrisy." and I didn't really see how the example you posted was Dalish hypocrisy, and I responded as such.

Well, when zatharian the religious leader of the dalish practices magic using a spirit, that is just as hypocritical as anything you can name the dwarves or chantry or qunari.

Again its just an example. The dalish aren't saints, they are just ...lol..."people".

Hey, if the character next to me believes in no god, that won't pick my pocket, if they believe in 12, that won't break my leg. Unless they are literally breaking my legs to try and force me to join their religion, in which case they are dicks and I will probably dislike their religion.

But for in character..I'll probably have my dorf be strict in worship of the paragons (Unless our only option is surfacers in which case who knows), maybe I'll have other characters be devout to whatever religion makes sense for their background, maybe not. I'll play it by ear.
