It's not confirmed that he's a dreamer. Just speculation.

But it is really silly that people are knocking him for his appearance. Even if people do find him ugly, everyone knows the most freakiest looking man can turn into a hunk if his voice is right. And if his voice isn't right, there's always his personality, and if his personality isn't right, there's the friend zone.

They were knocking him because of this character art. http://static2.wikia...DAI_NewHome.jpg

It made him look like this; nosferatu_xl_01-film-B.jpg

With all these "main" romance stuff and assuming how many LI will be there....i think most of you are wrong. Devs didnt say anything specific. We might get 4-5 romances, lets be optimistic.

That is why I think it would be funny if he turned out to be in the end the best LI Bioware has created or something so all naggers would have to awkardly eat their own preconceptions.

Ugh, no. Personality =/= physical appearance.

If he turns to have a great, charming personality, people that aren't attracted to him will have to deal. Maybe even grow fond of his looks.

He still looks like a sick, Nicholas Cage, hobo. At least, to me. If you wanna hit that, that's on you.

His pants are gonna be torn apart at any given moment and THAT, doesn't give me pause at stalking him relentlessly to see the outcome!

I never had anything against Solan myself, don't know anything but his supposed background and looks yet, so no reason to judge.

Though I did think "Huh, he looks like Zathrian. A lot." I guess I expected something else, but then again, Fenris probably stole all the hair any future male elven companions will have.

We can look forwad to only bald evlen men in DA4.

Now I feel the urge to rewatch The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Which is a good thing, actually.

Oh god I hope not. He looks like a naked mole rat.

Look I'm sure he's a nice a guy but...I wouldn't virtually tap that if you paid me.

And no it's not because he's bald or unattractive. It's because he's an elf, and I don't touch elves. They're dirty.

I think he will be more of a mentor / Wynne type character.

I see this too.  He could be the one to help us understand how we close the Fade tears.

That said, I'd love for him to be an LI.  He's in no way my RL "type" but he looks amazing to me.  Pretty face (can't wait to see a better screenshot), great concept art, and he's so tiny that he's just cute as a button.  I wouldn't mind if he's the main male romance.  My Inquisitor won't be able to get enough of that sweet, bald elfiness.

I don't usually go the elf route, but I'll make an exception for him.

Well imo Thane was the best romance in ME2 and Garrus was the best in ME3. If people can get over romancing a fish/frog and a dinosaur, they should be able to get over a bald head O_o

From my four years of lurking round BSN, this seems to be the way things are done here. Doesn't make a lick of sense to me, but then, I'm one of the few who waits for more information/pictures/what have you on someone or something before breaking out the torches and pitchforks. :P

So, yes, I'm waiting for more info and/or pictures of the guy before deciding whether I like or dislike him. Seems only fair, no?

Yeah... I don't give a crap if he's basically a pointy-eared Jesus.

If I don't find a character at least somewhat physically appealing, I'm not going to romance them.

Physical attraction is a pretty important part of any romantic relationship. Even for people who lack it, it's important that both partners be compatible in that way.

As it is, I don't find any of the male characters revealed so far particularly appealing. And since they've revealed like, four dudes already, I don't expect that I will see one I do like.

As for personality, the character concept that appealed to me most in that respect (regardless of whether or not he was romanceable or even a companion) was Dorian, and I suspect he got cut, since it transpires that we're not visiting Tevinter anyway.

I really just hate the concept of their being a "main" romance. I hope the writers try to make all the romances they offer of equal quality and importance.

Although, to be honest, I didn't feel like there was a "main" romance in DA2. Most characters have some ties to the plot. Which ones are the most important typically just depend on what parts of the plot the individual think is most important.

In terms of romance I never felt that one character was a main one as opposed to the others.

Obviously Anders have a much more significant role in the narrative, but that isn't based in romance at all.

An argument could be made for Anders and Merrill since they move in, but they only really add a couple of conversations extra througout the third act.

I see a lot of people quoting Isabela as the "main" romance, so it's obviously not clear at all. I think it's a totally subjective claim.

I would never call her the main romance, she's a optional companion after all.

Some people played through the game first time never knowing who Isabela was.

What if Solas is an entirely different person in the Fade? What if he lives more in his dreams than in real life and invites inquisitor occasionally to share them. You would go through all of the deeper coversations with him when both of you are asleep and find each other in the fade.

Slightly balder Orsino v.2 by day. Hunky McFabio by night. Sounds sexy.

It's because she was the LI shown in the trailers.

His skinny little legs absolutely crack me up. As vain as it sounds, I won't romance someone I do not find aesthetically pleasing at least a little. I mean, they needn't be a goddess or god to the eyes (I'm not lol) but I do require a smidgen of attraction. I definitely do not see this in Solas. At all. But there will be tons of people who do. Which is what matters. It is only the "main romance" if you so choose. You needn't romance anyone.

Well in my opinion, it always seems like there is a "main" LI in all the dragon age games, but one per gender

For example, in Origins Alistair and Morrigan were both involved with the main plot and because of that it felt like they were the more interesting ones to me, same with Anders and Isabela in DA2. Now not being involved with the plot doesn't make leliana zev Merrill or fenris romances less important but the others just make those dramatic moments more powerful. Again in my opinion :)

True, but it's either this or trying to 'equalize' the content. Which, unfortunaltely, is only possible by involving the companions into the plot equally little (like ME2).

I mean - imagine that each party member (or just each LI) has same 'plot-content' as Anders or Alistair had.

By the way, it's not the matter of lines count, I won't be surprised to hear that Anders and Fenris or Merill actually have same amount of 'screen time'.  There are only so much 'Big' plots and characters a game can handle. Someone is always will be 'more important' than the others.
