Reviving this topic because I was not interested in Solas at all and thought he looked boring and BALD... but hot damn he enhanced the experience of playing a Dalish elf.  I can't romance anyone else now.  I hope Weekes is happy! D:

After re-reading the OP, I'd have to agree with you.

 

Ever since this guy was confirmed everyone seems to have been dissapointed how ugly, boring and most of all BALD character bioware dares to fling at us.This irritates me a bit because we have not even heard anything of his personality or history.

 

That is why I think it would be funny if he turned out to be in the end the best LI Bioware has created or something so all naggers would have to awkardly eat their own preconceptions.

There are two possible ways to interpret this:

 

(1) OP has mad prediction skills.

(2) Bioware read that post and said "Hmm, that would actually be cool. Let's do it."

 

Given the time frame, I'd think it's (1) rather than (2) but you never know. Anyway, while Solas has not exactly become the "main romance", I think it's safe to say that a game where you play a Dalish female Inquisitor and romance Solas feels quite a bit different from any other game. It's possibly the most personally meaningful story variation you can create in DAI, as well as the one that connects most seamlessly to future events.

 

I wonder if the default Inquisitor (the one used in future games for the default world state) will be a Dalish woman. Probably not, since they select their default world-states by the principle "has as few connections to earlier games as possible", but quite possibly it would make sense for the overarching story.

If he turns to have a great, charming personality, people that aren't attracted to him will have to deal. Maybe even grow fond of his looks.

I was wondering why I suddenly started to get so many like-points from this old thread of mine.

 

Right now I have to share my DAI playtime with three siblings so I am still at the first segments of the game and cant really say much about Solas yet, but reading your comments indicate I was more on the right track on my prediction than I realised when I started this discussion.

 

Nice to know that not all of my many crazy theories end up dead-wrong in the end.

on these guy's when I was younger and they are not sexy by any means;

 

 

(Ironically I still have a lady boner for Smee, I still think he's unbelievably cute)

 

But you have to admit, that Solas' character art did him no favors. He looked like Nosferatu. His in game rendering is much more forgiving though. But ultimately it will be his personality that will decide if I keep him on the team or relegate him to the back bench unless forced to tag him in.

I think the first screenshot they showed didn't do him any favours, tbh. The angle of the shot lined up with the curve of his head, so it made his forehead and cranium seem incredibly small. In-game that's not actually the case.

I know that from now on I will make my Keep World State for future DA games one where the Inquisitior is a female elf mage who romanced Solas, even if that´s not how it is on my game (Male human mage Inquisitor romancing Josephine) because that´s clearly the main romance and the one with most implications on the story.
