It's just not faaaaaiiir.

Ohhhhh, I'll *never* get off this planet.

You not gonna apply to Imperial Academy? I'm sure your father would approve.

Loved Safiya. Despite the lack of hair i found her the most interesting of female companions in NWN2.

1) He's not fat.
2) Is there are problem with older companions?

He looks fat in the trailer and he even has back boobs sagging over what I can only guess used to be muscles. Older companions (Wynne) are cool, but I figured we'd get a male qunari more along the lines of the guys in DA2. They looked much better and the hair was attractive. My opinion.

You know who else is bald though? Darth Vader. And look how nice he turned out! I have total faith in our hairless companions to come through in our greatest time of need. If Emperor Inquisition's Primary Antagonist starts spraying me with lightning I know I can count on Vivienne, more wardrobe now than woman, to take one for the team.

Perhaps wait till we see what he looks like in game?

I think that's the reason Qunari and their Mercenary and Bandit cousins stick to practical over indulgent foodstuffs.

No restraint.

The only change I would do to Solas is give him that half bald samurai hair he had in the War Room art. Only because I think it looks totally BA.

Yeah, that style looked awesome, I'm sad he wont have it but fingers crossed that we can have a style like that for our inquisitor!

Eh, I don't care. If their personality is cool that's all that matters. Less whining, more wit and charm.

I'm very disappointed by Viv's hair. I mean, for someone so fashionably conscious, she should have her hair be more elegant and fashionable. I mean, when we hear of the most ostentatious noblewomen of Orlais with hairstyles huge and intricate enough to hold birds inside of them, and if Viv is supposed to be representative of such females, why don't they go far and beyond with her hairstyle? And don't feed me that hat nonsense since there are many short and beautiful hairstyles for females that can be worn with a hat.

Personally, I feel like they gave her a buzzcut because, one, Bioware is sorely lacking in knowledge about black women hairstyles and went with the most stereotypical one they could get away with, and two, they know they have crappy textures for their hair (which is why I believe they made Varric's hair darker than its supposed to be so that they could hide it more easily as well as having several bald companions) so they went with the cheapest route possible to avoid giving her hair. In fact, I really think it's all due to the second reason that they gave Viv such an unfitting hairstyle (haircut, really), since we've yet to see a character with light or long/flowing hair.

Wow, you have no concept of how muscles work do you?

Those are called lats. You get them when you lift and swing heavy things a lot. They're not "hanging over" anything. That's how they look. He has an Ahnold body. Like... Conan era Ahnold.

Iron Bull is just rocking a big as heck belt/armor thing around his waist.

I think they gave Vivienne short hair mostly because they really wanted to have that ornate hat on her and the hair would have never worked well with it. I don't think it's "practicality", because her description clearly states that's not important to her. They could have made a huge hairstyle for her, but I think they just liked the profile the hat created and shaped the rest of her look around that.

I'm not totally convinced ease of time and expense didn't lead in part to the decision of the hat over a huge, elaborate hairstyle, though. The hat is static and required less physics application, it's true. Personally, that's alright with me. I think the hat looks really cool and she has a very striking profile. It fits her character well enough, in my opinion. What looks better is down to opinion.

To be honest, though, I wouldn't doubt at all if a lot of Orlesians didn't primarily wear wigs. Their fashion is heavily based on the French aristocracy and they were very known for their elaborate wigs. I realize Thedas isn't the real world, but it seems like a logical assumption that some people would wear them. It would definitely make it easier to change their look more often.

They can use a special attack when you have all 3 in a party

It's too much baldness for enemies to handle XD.

I am out of likes, but you get this:

I love Viv's hats as well, but it irks me that out of all the characters in the DA series, the only black female with heavy, common African features has to be the one with a buzzcut while every single other female, IIRC, have never had one and even the other prominent black female (who really looks more latina, at least to me) had long flowing hair. It was very possible for Bioware to give her a pixie cut instead of going a very stereotypical route and giving her a buzzcut. Black women can have pretty dolled up hair as well and I feel like they should've explored more hairstyles, especially with someone as fashion conscious as Viv, instead of just giving her a buzzcut that tends to be associated with a lot of African looking black women.

I think she would looks awesome bald in her elaborate attire without a hat. I will ''hide'' her hat if that's an option.

Well, Cass has the pixie cut already.

I was actually headcanoning that Vivi had Sailor Moon like buns under her hat. =[ But I think the shaved head is beautiful on her. I mean... she could've had pink hair and it still would've been pretty because it is Madam De Fer, but still...

Isabela looked hispanic or even southern European to me. I didn't really think she seemed to have African inspired features.

I understand your arguments in the context of representation. I hadn't thought about it, but I suppose I can understand your complaint as to why only the African inspired companion was given a feature that could be construed as stereotyping. Unfortunately, I imagine this didn't really occur to the game designers, either.

Well now I feel weird. I was actually hoping she'd have a buzzcut. I, personally, don't often see that on black women; though you're right, it may just be a stereotype specific to African women. And I've definitely seen some artists struggle with black hairstyles when they don't just make it straight and call it a day. Hmm.

Though to be honest, I even thought about modeling my f!Inquisitor on this one from the concept art:

Inquisitor-Coronation.jpg

I still might do it. I'll roll with Vivienne, Iron Bull, and Solas and call it the 'Bald Ambition' tour.

I totally understand your point of view, even if I think it's fine with Vivienne.
