So how many games in the dragon age saga do you think will be made? And even after the main saga is finished do you think they will make more games set in the DA universe?

Personally I think it might be around 5 or 6 and, depending on its success, maybe a few spin offs or maybe an entirely new series in the same setting.

And before anyone starts talking about the "five game plan" its probably best to read this: http://www.examiner....ls-and-spoilers

About 6 seems right, but I honestly can not tell, really.

If anything, we'll have as many games as the years of an Age allow. So we theoretically could have over 50 games after Inquisition.

Well with the introduction of the keep, it is hard to tell how many are going to be made. The keep gives the games longevity.

If we're lucky, we'll perhaps have a tenth as many Dragon Age games as there are Assassin's Creed titles. But it'll probably be closer to 1/20th.

Since they're just starting to just touch the game world, I'd say there will be at least 2 more games before they pause and reassess their scope for Dragon Age. It seems like they got a lot of lore brimming to fill out the games right now. The only thing that might interrupt them is the timeline, Dragon Age is only 100 years long.

Depends on how much is sold. It could end on Inquistion or end up like the Final Fantasy franchise. I think this is the defining game in the franchise and will decide if more are made though. As long as they have consumer demand they'll continue to make them because they have plenty not explored yet.

The pessimistic side of me thinks this will be the last Dragon Age. I only say that based on my personal experiences with people I've talked to who were fans. It seems many of them think Bioware is on a heavy decline and have already made their mind up about DAI without playing it. I think this is sadly the mindset of many gamers. I guess it doesn't help this franchise hasn't seen any consistency in direction and all 3 games have been drastically different from each other. We all know EA will expect some unrealistic numbers for this game trying to capture a Skyrim market that's probably not realistic and umbrella parent company isn't going to be happy. I think it's obvious they're going for Skyrim's market with the way the game is being presented(especially the recent trailer). That combined with a holiday release and I don't even want to see EA's projections for this game. Budget couldn't be cheap for sitting so long on the project.

I just don't have much faith in EA these days. Hope they prove me wrong but their history speaks for itself. They aquire talented upcoming studios, milk them for every dollar until they don't have as much interest in their products anymore and then liquidize them. I'll enjoy it as it comes though and hope more keep being made.

Personally I hope not. When you go over ten games in as series it tends to get cheap and terrible. If they did that many and manage to keep the games good then of course it would be brilliant but I think it would be safer just to quit while the goings good on around the 6th-7th game to make sure series isn't drawn out. I'd prefer DA being short and sweet rather than long and boring.

10? I'd say by about the third game it starts getting bland for every franchise. The 4th is when a complete redo is in order. It just so happens it appears to be happening at 3 for Dragon Age. DAI should be very fresh for even DA fans because it looks so different.

Franchises can be revived though. Call of Duty was getting boring after CoD3 and then CoD4 came along to reinvent the FPS genre. It hasn't deviated much from that formula though and is just yuck every year now.

Maybe Bioware will get lucky and this will happen for DAI. Might grab a big % of that Skyrim market.

The devs have always said they don't have a fixed number but I can't help but imagine they must have some roughly planned out series of events. I've always figured 5ish. After DAI we still need something dramatic with the Qunari and then a big closer type thing. Then again DAI might be the big closer-type thing. I dunno really.

Who knows. At some point, I assume they'll be into the next "Age". What comes after the Dragon Age, I wonder?

The way it seems DAI is being set up is the world will be ripped to shreds and torn down with complete chaos. It will be interesting to see what direction DAI goes and if you have the power to see Thedas destroyed. It certainly implied so in the E3 trailer. That would drastically change what would be in DA4, IMO. The question is why would you want to see Thedas destroyed? One good reason I kinda would rather Bioware not do choices carried over. If they didn't have this option it would allow them to do things like this easier because they don't have save games they need to keep in mind and what choices were made.

Can't wait to see all the complaining when ME4 comes out and everyone is over an uproar over their endings not carrying over even if the game is 300 years in the future. Kinda backed themselves into a corner there unless it's a prequel. I don't know how anyone can realistically think those endings are going to dramatically change a direct sequel to ME3 other than some dialogue difference 300 years later. That would be a nightmare otherwise in game development with so many diverging paths.

I think if Bioware would remove save game imports they could enforce more consequence in their choices.

I think it entirely depends on wether or not Dragon Age can become a large selling title, if they can then I think they'll keep popping out games.

If not then my guess is around 5 or 6.

In the game informer videos one of the devs mentioned a five game plan and then later, on twitter, said he had no idea why he did.

I'm always deeply skeptical of people who swear to never buy another Dragon Age game, yet still hang around the forum. Not sayin' some of them won't stick to it, but mostly I think people are full of crap.

I'm sure they'll make games for as long as the interest remains and there's a story to tell. And as long as they don't mind when they come out with Dragon Age Seven: The Antivan Seas that someone's complaining about it not reading a flag for a choice they made in Origins.

I feel the same way but they have a lot of gamers who are very stubborn. It doesn't help with all the negativity that surrounds EA and people threatening to boycott them regardless how good a game is. Realistically, how many game franchises can you think that prospered after making a game in the franchise that severely disappointed? A bad egg seems to always tarnish a franchise and a lot of people will make their mind up without giving a sequel a fair chance.

A lot of people on the internet consider Bioware's previous projects major strikes. DA2, ME3, SWTOR...that's 3 strikes and a lot to swallow for some.

The fact is there's a helluva lot more gamers who don't float around the forums, making hyperbolic statements of doom. For every one gamer who hangs around here, there's like three hundred out in the world who buys a game that looks cool on the shelf. I think since everyone here is all hella invested and really hardcore about the lore and the gaming community in and of itself and hella opinionated that we tend to assume EVERY gamer is the same way, and it's just not the case.

There are so many things that can happen in 100 years. I really hope that when they finish the last Dragon Age game they'll start the Griffon Age (or something like that) games.

as long as the game sells they will make it. I mean look at CoD series and they have 3 different stuidos making games for it... its worse than Final Fantasy series.

I think some devs have given concerns after teh game moves past the "Dragon Age" of the timeline. however I think they can go past it with proper marketing. (they will need to be more creative at there job for once) maybe they should start shifting the name of the game to something else, cause if it goes past the "Dragon age" or hey why not at the end of the "dragon age" make it so, all of Theadas gets hit by something big, and almost destorying civilation as we know it. and then have everyone use "Dragon Age"

Now that I think about it... I don't remember anyone in game use the name "Dragon age" or even a date whatsoever....

I tend to agree that this game could be defining for the series. From everything we've seen so far I think that sounds like a very positive thing for the future of the franchise.

Also, with this coming to next gen I think it's well positioned to sell well, even to people who haven't played a game in the series before. With the Witcher pushed back and Elder Scrolls possibly being an expensive alternative...Dragon Age is gonna fill a hole. The only other RPG I can think of is that Bound by Flame game that is coming out in May... Add in some good promotion and I don't see any reason it would sell poorly, especially through the holidays.

And there really isn't a limit on how many games they make. For all we know Dragon Age 4 could cover the same time frame/overlap with Inquisiton but it could cover the events of the Anderfels and Tevinter or something like that.

While I agree all three games have been very different, I don't see that as nessecarily a bad thing. I think they have all had good and bad qualities, but being able to give players a variety of experiences within the world of Dragon Age is ultimately a strength of the series. I still believe that if they had had the resources to make Kirkwall an openworld city, giving you the ability to actually explore etc, it would have drastically changed the argument about 'containing' the player in a fantasy setting. (And could have made DA2 a very memorable and unique gaming experience).

They'll keep making games for as long as they can make a profit off them.

But if I had to put a number to it? I'd say they could get to 6-7 but I rather doubt they'd get past 8.
