The Paladin. Its an ok gun, but imo it needs a bit of a buff.
If you could buff a weapon that's considered weak when compared to others of the same type, what would you pick?

I would buff the hell out of the Striker. Because then maybe I could figure out how to use it.

Other than the Harrier, Typhoon, and PPR, I think the Valkyrie is probably the next best AR. I mean that's not really a bad thing.
Like someone said, Saber is better than Valkyrie.

They are close enough in efficacy that it is debatable.
What isn't debatable is whether or not the Valkyrie needs a buff.
It does not.

Well, the characteristic of the Valkyrie that I find kind of silly is the two shot burst. They could very much roll the two in one shot and call it Saber junior or something.

It's not, Saber is better. Both if you go for body shots or pure headshots.
What isn't debatable is whether or not the Valkyrie needs a buff.
It does not.
It does need a buff. Or a demotion from ultra rare to rare.

A lot of the Valkyrie's power lies in it's head-shot multiplier, making it an anti-mook gun comparable to the suppressor.
Like the suppressor it's not suited to platinum's boss spam, and on gold it requires the user to bring a power or second weapon that can deal with bosses effectively, so the only thing I'd have done to it is reduce its weight so that it lets you either use anti-boss powers more or carry a heavier anti-boss gun.
But since that's not going to happen, try partnering the Valkyrie to a hurricane or a flamer. Use the Overpowered to balance the Underpowered and vice-versa.
Anyway, my candidate for buffing would be the Eviscerator, it's so outclassed by the wraith its not even funny. I just can't think of a single reason to use it other than nostalga and challenge points.

So it's a Saber that sucks basically. A Saber HS will drop unshielded mooks in one shot, heck with the HS VI amp it OHKs unshielded Pyros or even a Dragoon if you're using warp ammo and it doesn't suffer from an inability to deal with bosses. Also both guns have the same magazine size- 8 trigger pulls, meaning that they can both drop the same amount of enemies- ability to CC same on both guns.
The Valkyrie is even inadequate for dropping mooks, the spread b/w it's 2 round burst can only be compensated for in close range. Anything beyond that and you either need a MM kit or hard cover- no bueno. IIRC the devs wanted to turn the Valkyrie into a Harrier with more reserve ammo, a steeper learning curve and a bit more finesse, instead it became a Widow. By that I mean, sure it's a great gun but why use it when I can use a Black Widow? It's just that the Widow is rare while Valk is UR.
Also, doesn't it make sense that the Wraith outclasses the Eviscerator? It says in the weapon's description that the Wraith is an upgraded Eviscerator, sort of like the Carnifex and Paladin.

Nope. A scope helps the reticle bloom of the Valkyrie. Kick the tires again with it and see what you think. I love the Saber the sound of it, etc. but IMHO the Valkyrie is better. I haven't run the DPS numbers but the Valkyrie has to be better if you hit the head, just going by feel.

Both guns might have the same number of shots, but the valkyrie can put them out far quicker (600 RPM vs 80RPM, albeit limited by the 0.25 second refire time limit), and it reloads in less than half the time too(0.67 sec vs 1.33 sec reload canceled), so you should be comparing three valkyrie bursts with one saber shot.
The Valkyrie can triple burst gold level unshielded mooks all day long if you land roughly half your shots in the brain and most of the rest in the body.
And as for the accuracy, you could do what Nuke said and just stick a scope on it you know. If the target's too close for a scope to be practical, it's also too close for the accuracy loss on the second shot to be an issue.
Here, I'll even share my build, it can kill a unshielded gold mook with just One Valkyrie burst to the face if both land on target (in practice you'll usually need two bursts):http://kalence.drupa...63Z57313!D.8AGG
Also, why use a widow when the black widow's available? The widow can 1HK with a body-shot almost any shielded mook if you use it on an overload/energy drain kit. Try it sometime, you should appreciate it if you like the saber for it's 1HK's.

I'll try it later on today, see how it goes. I can't really argue with opinions but personally I haven't had much success with the Valk on anything other than Tsol/Hsol/QMS while the Saber is a permanent gun I use on at least 4 kits I can think of and an alternating gun on at least 4 more.

I really really doubt that anyone can make the Valkyrie go 600 RPM and even if someone did, it'd be all over the place which would kind of ruin the whole point of this weapon- going for headshots. Can't argue with with reload times, the Valk does reload faster than the Saber... by 0.66 seconds. Sure it may be a major factor for some people but I think it doesn't make much of a difference.
The Saber can do the same with 1 well placed shot.
Sounds interesting, I'll try it out and see how it goes. Though I suspect that if a scope is needed on a weapon to make it good for long range- it's not really that good for long range.
You sir have a fine choice of HMS builds, I use the exact same thing except I spec Frags for bleed damage instead of extra grenades. Like I said, I'll try the Valk on him later on today.
I like the Saber for a multitude of reasons: first of all is it's ability to OHK anything short of big bosses, it has a solid 8 rounds which makes for good CC, accurate for any range, a whole lot of spare ammo to make sure I don't have to play next to an ammo box and a great firepower:weight ratio for casters. Also I wasn't hatin' on the Widow
I was pointing out how the Saber and Valk are like the BW and Widow in that they're all great weapons but why use one when you can use it's "bigger cousin"?

This actually looks like a pretty fun build. I might go 4/4 in Concussive Shot and Fitness because I like Concussive Shot. But I suppose if you can one-burst kill most mooks, CS loses a little of its utility.
Also @NT - pretty sure the Vakyrie's raw theoretical max DPS is better than the Saber's (not including headshots). Like 10% better, in fact. Of course, this requires you to max the Valkyrie's fire rate, but that actually isn't that difficult, due to the refire delay. It's less than 4 trigger pulls/second.

You're right, 600 RPM is impossible, that's just the official RPM stat from Cyonan's spreadsheet. Stats The pause between bursts (refire time) prevents it from actually firing at that speed.
The point was just to show that 3 valkyrie bursts = 1 saber shot in terms of killing speed, that's all.
The reload speed being half of that of the saber is also a part of that comparison, nothing more.

A fair warning: you'll only get the one burst kills on very weak mooks such as Cerberus troopers normally, you'll need the boost from AR to be active to one burst gold cannibals etc. Between that and human error, you'll be either two bursting or three bursting most mooks the majority of the time.
The one bursts are sweet when you get them though. Especially if a krogan is standing nearby when you do it. ![]()
It's not bad for an oddball kit I made as an excuse to start using my Targeting VI and Stabilization consumables. ![]()
I might switch to 4/4 CS/fitness myself actually now you mention it, if only for phantoms. I use frags to force them to bubble at the moment, then hose them with the hurricane up close, or facial them with the valkyrie at safer distances.
It work's because I don't host with him, but he wouldn't be sacrificing all that much to get CS, so it's probably a better choice.
