Maybe he just has to record some battle-cry as Alistair plunges into battle when the Inquisition is attacking the Warden fortress and he dies. Or, if he's drunk, he'll be fighting in a bar and dying. Or if he's king, he'll be dying at the peace conference in the beginning.
No, I hope not.
In all seriousness, this is kind of pretty exciting, though it'll likely be nothing more than a small cameo. And I'm cool with that.
I kinda doubt that they'll do something like that especially the king version since he was specifically mentioned by one of the devs in one of the podcasts when they were talking about if you're playing as a conqueror type that takes over occupied fortresses, strongholds, keeps that are in their territories then you'll be hearing from them.
It think the size of his role will depend on on what we do in the keep and what we make him.
If they killed him in the first few minutes they would secure themselves enough fan tears to sustain them until Dragon Age 4.
I think that's unlikely and they would likely get a lot of backlash if they did from his fans( I wouldn't be to thrilled either) though maybe he may die over the course if the game depending on what they do with him, the wardens and Fereldan but I just can't see him dieing early on.
Guess he wasn't in talks with Bioware for a while because earlier he tweeted he wasn't in DA:I. I'm glad, I love Alistair! DA:I is gonna be amazing.
That's the most likely case, considering Gaider already indicated that they only contact them when they'reready to use them so technically this is confirmed, they showed someone else not to long ago who may be in DAI aswell.
I knew people were seriously overreacting when they took Steve's tweet that he hadn't been contacted yet to mean "No Alistair in DA:I". Regardless, glad to see that he'll apparently be in it (unless he's voicing a different character, which would be a strange move on Bioware's part).
Same here, also considering the fact Gaider later said that they only contact them when they're ready to start recording their roles and that they'll be recording for months to come.
Nah he'll be recording as Alistair one dev dropped his name saying that if Alistair's a monarch and you're a conqueror type then you'll be hearing from him and this tweet by Darah the same day Valentine said that they didn't contact him and this from their face book.
@JamesWrightNI @Stevevalentine @Mike_Laidlaw Alistair is not a follower in #DAI . Other than that, I don't know what we are talking about

Edit
And this from Gaider in theTwitter thread.
Unlike Allan, I am not willing to poke this particular bear needlessly. He does indeed play Alistair. Insofar as what role Alistair plays in the game, however, that you will have to wait and see.
(Other than him being a party member, which he most definitely is not.)
Anyway on to the op, I think he'll have a role in the plot that varries according to our world histories that we set with the grey warden version being the biggest one, and if there's a scism going on then either we'll be working with or against him depending on what type of character we're playing as and that the grey wardens are up to something very suspicious that warrants Cassandra and the inquisition attacking them and that the book the last flight is supposed to reveal some secrets that will likely cast doubt on them and possibly set them up some of them as an antagonistic force.
The second is the king version for a number of reasons, like we'll be going to various nations and establishing beach heads in them and that they've said that monarchs won't care if you get rid of some bandits, demons, cultists, taking over un occupied bases etc but if you take over stuff in their territories under their protection then they will take notice and do something.
That we'll be spending a large chunk of the game in fereldan and the other stuff they've said I can't imagine us not going to Denerim and getting permission to set up beach heads and in general not meeting with the monarchs doesn't make much sense. Also the grey wardens were waiting for him in act 3 which also concides with when the warden was supposed to return to Denerim makes me even more suspicious of them.
Not sure about the drunken exile one but he'sat least back in Fereldan (probably Red Clife) considering Tegan collected him from Kirkwall and said it was time for him to start over again back in Fereldan but unsure what use they would have for him other than the throne or the return of the ancient dragons that Yavana and Flemeth were trying to free.
Alistair is about 31-32 years old now and hasn't really been a warden to long so I kinda doubt his calling is going to start soon and has a maximum of close to 20 years left thougit's possible I just don't see them doing so.
There's a lot they can do the only question is it a cameo or does it fall under the category of returning characters that are vital or somewhat vital to the game.
