Haters hate him cuz he's prettier and more popular with us ladies than they'll ever be. Plus he can dance the remigold and do the hulaa and probably break/tap dance too if push comes to shove. All that at the same time gutting darkspawns by the thousands with a toothpick.
He is much more than what david gaider threatened haters with for his next character. Somehing about chuck norris and ripping off chest hairs and reaching out of your screen to slap you senseless.
...or maybe they just don't like the character and are particularly verbal about it? Fans of certain characters are the same way with their fandom.
With that said, I'll be interested to see where Alistair's at in Inquisition. Having the King's ear (or that of the Queen, if Anora is around) would be beneficial to the Inquisitor and his/her organisation, I feel.
I fully expect him cleaned up and portraying one of the other roles Alistair has depending on choices made, possibly with an extra line explaining that he was a drunkard before Teagan set him on the right path.
I can accept drunk Alistair coming back as King, if 1)It's properly explained, and not just "lol I was a drunk mess but now I'm king ;)" and 2) I didn't leave my Warden as Anora's husband, I can't remember the official title they gave since it's been awhile but I call him king anyways.

I ended up looking on youtube at what happens to Alistair if you have him exiled. I never picked those choices, so his appearance in that video didn't phase me.
So, yes, as far as I'm concerned, he's still quite the attractive guy and my favorite romance in DA so far.
