Just finished listening to Casey Hudson on Giant Bombcast: Mass Effect 2 Edition and @21:30 into it made it sound like theres almost no way to save all squad members.or at the very least that it'll take more than a few play throughs to do it.

You have to be really prepared if you plan on saving everyone.

If that's true, I'll happily throw SuZe under the bus.

I think that's AWESOME.

I want to work to save them all. I want to sweat bullets and feel all sorts of anguish when I realize I made a bad choice and have to live with the consequences.

I adore my companions. I have in every BioWare game I've played, even NWN. That's the sort of gut punch I want; an actual sense of loss instead of reloading and playing through a three minute fight again.

Well, I say we play the game before we worry who lives and who dies. From what little info we have, it seems as though survivability relies greatly on preparation. People like me who do everything; explore every planet and research/upgrade everything AND make sure we balance loyalties may have a better chance of crafting an ending we choose. But I am thinking, like ME1, we may have to sacrifice someone no matter what we do.

Wouldn't be much of a dark second act if we all come out unscathed.

Can't choose who dies.  Or at least its probably pretty complicated to set up who you want to die.

I'm guessing that if you have EVERYONEs loyalty and your gear, weapons and Normandy are upgraded then everyone lives....I hope.  Oh and you recruited everyone.

Or it'll take one playthrough for a very thorough player.

Garrus and Tali and the only ones that need to survive anyway.

Prolly be easy if you do every loyalty quest lol. He's just saying that because he knows a lot of the consumers of this game will not do all the achievements/missions, thus, failing to save everyone.

But for you and me, we will do every mission and we will save everyone.

:-D

EDIT: Basically do every mission, collect everything, recruit everyone and you will survive.

good, I'll try my hardest to keep everyone alive, and I want to feel like I accomplished something great, I just hope the characters I like don't die on my main paragon shep. I think that you'll have to pick who to actually accept on your team in order to get them all to live.

The alien(s) will be the sacrificial lamb(s).

I forget where I saw it but I saw the gamertag of a gamespot reviewer after his playthrough, and he'd done all the loyalty missions but didn't get the achievement for keeping everyone alive.

Well that's not good. But I do suppose that's what New Game + is for. Give a run through, and if it's not successful, now we have a beefed character to do it the right way.

Yeah, because he didn't do any of the upgrades.

He goes on to say that people who are loyal to you could die just from having a disloyal teammate, while they live. I have babies man I don't want them to die cause I'm in my 9th play through of the game and haven't been fed

^This. Completely.

And it's made all the better knowing that I can fail so completely that Shep dies as well. If it was easy, how could you call it a suicide mission?

I am pretty sure it was said most everyone can survive..eventually. I think if you are careful and prepare (aka are a hardcore gamer), then you will probably have most if not all survive. The rest can be done in a second playthrough, I imagine..

In the achievements list there is "no one left behind" and it is keeping your team alive the whole suicide mission. so i think you can save them if you work on your relationships with your characters

Well, it SHOULD take some effort! If you could save everyone with relative ease, what possible incentive is there to do every loyalty quest and get every upgrade. Part of the satisfaction of any true RPG is spending lots of time to get the best possible result, the best possible ending.

I think it's kind of cool, if it's not that easy to save everyone, not only because it's realistic.

I'll toss Tali into a group of husks. I only want Garrus to live!

I bet saving everyone means sacrificing yourself in the process... It seems kind of obvious to me.
