Actually you can save Wrex without charm or intimidate, but you need to do his little side mission armor thing.

As previously mentioned, what the hell kinda suicide missions would it be if it's a cakewalk to bring your whole team through unscathed?
I'm actually hoping it's not very obvious how to ensure every particular member's survival. I guess choosing a sacrifice in dialog a la Ash/Kaiden can make for some tough decisions and strong scenes, but it's starting to feel a bit contrived to me for some reason.
I plan to just play through naturally on my first pass and experience the game rather than becoming fixated on making sure all/one of my companions live or die personally. Like Maria said, it lends a whole lot more impact to the story if you lose a companion you had become really attached to (as long as it's not done in a cheap way) especially if you didn't really see it coming. However, I can appreciate tragedy as long as it's not done melodramatically, not every one does.

*Best Meer voice* We have to give everything. Even if that means our lives. We will stop at nothing... we will FIGHT for the lost. *End Meer voice*
Edit: God damnit... now you people have me watching the trailer again... it was so hard to stop after the first time.

Yeah, I hope it makes me wanna play again, rather than smash the disc with a molotov.EatinMcRib wrote...
I just hope the sad endings are the kinds that make you feel sad, and not royally pissed at Bioware hard enough to grind the game disc/hard drive with your mind and brew some rage coffee. With extra rage.

Well it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise. I'm looking forward to it.stratax52 wrote...
Just finished listening to Casey Hudson on Giant Bombcast: Mass Effect 2 Edition and @21:30 into it made it sound like theres almost no way to save all squad members.or at the very least that it'll take more than a few play throughs to do it.

It would be stupid if most of it depended on certain choices you make during the suicide mission if you have no way of knowing which choices are bad and which choices are good. Then it is no longer a challenge, it's just guesswork. I'd rather be rewarded for logical thinking than penalized because I didn't guess correctly.

Actually, it woud make for an awkward extened playthrough. According to Jesse and Christina from the x-fire vid, you can keep playing after the end, without doing a new game+, ah-la Borderlands.Bryy_Miller wrote...

This is obviously a thread where I can't post spoilers, but having now finished the game, I can say that saving everyone leaves a lot to chance which I don't like. I did everything I was supposed to and still lost 2 team members in cut scenes. I had every team member loyal to me and I'd made all the upgrades, but 2 team members still died. I wonder if the chances of success are higher based on certain team members taking on certain roles...annoyed me really because I'd done everything you were supposed to.
I won't post spoilers here either, but I did save everyone on my first playthrough (no reloading). It's true you have to know your team and their abilities (even on a personal level) to make sure the right people are in the right place at the right time. It worked for me. You also need all the ship upgrades btw.

Or so you think. It is possible there's more to it than simply loyalties and upgrades. For example, the loyalty missions can occur in different ways.
