I personally found it pretty damn easy to save all my squadmembers. Did it in the first playthrough. Completionists shouldn't have any real trouble getting their team all loyal.

Just finished my first playthrough yesterday, all were saved :/ just do side quests and spend money on upgrades and you are good to go

I think that even if one does have 100% loyalty, one needs to make sensible choices with regards to certain factors late in the game. Without spoiling too much, there are certain situations where certain strengths are called upon to progress in the suicide mission.

I am at the start of the game.

Should we just try to purchase the upgrades that seem relevent to succeeding in the mission?

Rather than having to purchase every single upgrade. For example a shotgun upgrade even though I don't use a shotgun.

The upgrades affect your party members too.
