They give up their slaves, or they end up like their fellows.
Yeah but what do they do afterwards?

Haruhi smiling to that doesn't feel right, considering she was forced into basically indentured servitude to pay back a vase she broke by cross-dressing as a boy and working at a host club.
I knooow. It's just the expression. So many anime lovers though. I approve. ![]()
Well, if they didn't constantly try to reclaim Seheron and instead have agreed with the ceasefire the Qunari and the rest of Thedas signed, their economy may have stabilized.
If a game is going to be set up there, it seems most likely to me that the qunari will be dealt with permanently.

Not in their homeland they won't. Maybe just fought back from the borders.
Would horns become a common household adornment, then?
Yeah but what do they do afterwards?
Not enslave and sacrifice people?

I saw you say that, but I had to point out the irony of you using Haruhi for that. ![]()

Yeah, I highly doubt a permanent solution to the Qunari will happen when we aren't even on their home continent.
I thought slaves were vital to more than just Tevinter's economy. I got the impression the entire political entity of the Imperium would collapse without slaves.
Not enslave and sacrifice people?
Where does that leave them? Mages are not free anywhere outside Tevinter, it's not like a bunch of them would just be left alone by the other nations to live as they please.
So Tevinter has slaves because of the economy?
Not only. It makes a powerful nation that allows mages to be free. It's only through power and dominance that it could be achieved.
Can I have some pancakes?
So Tevinter has slaves because of the economy?
Yup, apparently it's the whole staple of their economy. Tevinter is so united in keeping it that they'd assassinate an archon who tried to abolish it.

Yes! I made a bunch for my Mom and me but there's still a bunch left over. More for you.

Well, it's not like it's happy puppies and kittens for mages in Tevinter, either. Better than outside of Tevinter? lolobviously yes, but it's not super-happy-fun for non-magister mages, either. Probably like the Sith Empire.

And the Imperium better be the main location for DA4 or future games 'cause I wanna slowly destroy it from the inside. ![]()
Anyway back onto the supposed topic, I do so totally hope Adrian is in the game because I wanna murderknife her so bad. I'm all for mage freedom, but what she did in the novel... No. Gurrrl you so gonna die.

Why not just destroy the slavers and nests, instead of the actual place??
And I agree about Adrian
I don't understand how though.
I would assume that their participation in the labor trade allows them to buy slaves and sell servants? I don't know, it might have something to do with the work slaves do.

I always thought it had something to do with Lyrium and blood magic, but I think I'm getting confused with past reasons.

Magisters just own a lot more land and things than they can financially support I think, so if they would have to leggit pay for all the services and privileges they have they would go bankrupt.

Because I want to laugh maniacally as their once-great-but-now-totally-fail country gets roflpwned.
Honestly though, it's because I hate them so much I want as little left of their pathetic society as possible.

Well, supposedly blood magic is illegal in Tevinter... But redardless, that's probably a reason they had slaves in the past.

Yeah, that's probably why slavery is such a staple... But it's still strange, since there's no real slave trade to other nations.

Yes let's roflstomp the only country where mages can be free. Chantry will be proud.
Just like with Anders, I understood much of Adrain's frustration. I can't even imagine what she was going through. However, her extremism got a lot of people killed. That seems to be a theme, I'm noticing. I was sympathetic towards her, for most of the book. Then she betrayed Rhys at the end, and that's where she lost me altogether.
I don't hate her, I pity her. Coming from me, as anyone that has read my posts will attest to, pity is worse than hate. I don't want to see her especially in game. This thread makes it evident that we don't need another Anders. In a way, she has even less scruples than Anders did. At least Anders tried his damned to keep Hawke out of it, not frame her/him for murder for the "greater good."
Anyone get flashbacks to Qara from NWN2 when they read Asunder? Man, she reminds me of Qara only with a cause.
My other concern is the same one in the Cole thread: In order to introduce a character from the books to the game, even as a NPC, the writing team would have to set it up properly. Not everyone read the books and to assume such could leave some players in the dark. Why should they care about Adrian, Rhys or Cole if they didn't read the story?
If the writing team could manage to do a new introduction for unfamiliar players, while keeping it fresh for those that know the story, then we could be onto something. I think the writing team is capable of it, but if Adrian or Cole were to appear in the game, it would be a first. I believe it would be the first characters to come from the books into the games, rather than the other way around.
Tricky business to be sure.
