Was indifferent to friendly about ol' Adrian before I came to BSN. But for her very name to cause so much discussion and chaos... She's top three material in the franchise at this point.

But I've always enjoyed characters and events that result in mass chaos and dissent.

I love the character because she's willing to do what is necessary for the mages. I would liken a potential partnership between Adrian and the Inquisitor as that between a Renegade Shepard and Steven Hackett.

If she's to make an appearance as a potential ally, I will bend over backwards with my balls in a knot to recruit her.

If nothing else she is a reliable failsafe. That is, I know that I will have at least one more mage at my back that is willing to do what is necessary to see the bucketheaded gorillas to the table or to their graves.

ACtually my opposition to Fiona is more along the lines of the idea that it was a stupid time to tweak the templar's nose.  You don't call for that vote when the templars are that much on edge whent he agreement for having the conclave in the first place is to discuss tranquility.  Its my opinion and others do and are more then welcome to view it differently, I just didn't see it as being an intelligent decision.

That tension between mages and Templars was the main aspect of her success. Events of Kirkwall already made mages angry that all those mages were annulled for actions of a mage not related to circle in any way. Before the meeting in cumberland some circles revolted and some were close to do so. I doubt there was any better time. The whole mages in Thedas were angry at Templar order and the Seeker's incapability.

Some players hate Fiona because she opposes the Chantry controlled Circles, and argued for the Fraternities to vote for autonomy.

thanks, i actually like the character

I just put Fiona through the Mary Sue test and she got a 91.

"Your character is almost certainly a Mary Sue, and a bad one at that."

Really?

I'm a bit interested to see who will be at those peace talks. It seems like you would assume they would be fairly important representatives there if they're negotiating peace, but I wonder how willing the writers are to kill off multiple known characters in this sort of way. It's going to be interesting to see how that goes down. We already know no one can survive but the Inquisitor. That might, in fact, be the last we see Adrian, right there.

I also kind of wonder, though,  if they're going to use this as a way to kill off a bunch of assorted characters from past games that they don't want to continue as the "canon" survivors. Maybe who shows up will depend on who is in your "Dragon Keep" data that they'd like to write out. Like Anora, for example, or even someone like Anders. They'd have to be somewhat relevant to the overall leadership or to mages, but that's most people.

Oh yeah; even if we account for a possible bias, that is a huge score.

While I can't say I feel this strongly about her, I will say that I just couldn't bring myself to hate her, no matter how much I had expected to.

I respected her willingness to make a decisive act as opposed to Wynne's "clever" plots to buy favor and Rhys' total lack of a plan to get what he wanted.

I still feel I'm going to come into conflict with her, though. The fact is that while I see the points both the mages and the templars make, and I feel that there is no middle ground between them, I have no strong preference for either side. Any decision I make between the factions will be arbitrary at worst, and at best, be based solely on who's going to be of more use to me in combating the demons and closing the veil tears.

And if I have my way, I'll beat both sides into submission so I can use them both.

At the time of the conclave there weren't any other revolts. The revolts didn't occur until after the conclave. It was my opinion as stated.  You could also say taht the templars were mad at the mages for blowing up one of their chantrys and harboring the blood mages in kirkwall. Its a circuitous debate that I am not looking for, you stated it was related to the side she choose and I was just providing an example that it wasn't for me.  Also, according to Adrian she didn't think she had the votes to win anyway without Wynne.

Is it coincidence that so many mages happen to be bald and of those who happen to posses no hair, more oft then not they abuse their abilities for personal gain.

I wonder if there is a correlation between the two.

A while ago I read in wiki that said some mages and circles revolted before the meeting. (or were close to revolt)

"While Templar reinforcements arrived at Kirkwall to suppress further resistance, news from escaping mages of what had occurred spread to other Circles. Outraged that the templars of Kirkwall would invoke the Right of Annulment to justify the extermination of an entire Circle for the crimes of one apostate, some Circles revolted, while others were close to doing so. In response, the Templar Order cracked down, further restricting mage freedoms in an attempt to quell further disturbance."

"Despite this, the College of Enchanters, meeting for the last time in Cumberland before being disbanded in 9:38 Dragon, voted against secession from the Chantry at the urging of the Senior Enchanter, Wynne, in opposition to the motion tendered by its newly elected Grand Enchanter Fiona. Nonetheless, many of the Libertarian faction, who wished for independence, continued to encourage mages to rebel."

Think about it.

Caladrius, Uldred, Avernus.

All blood mages, all immoral egostical a-holes and what do they have in common?

They posses no hair.

Would feel the same way if I were not so invested in the mage perspective of the franchise.

Your method of going about the veil tears is the closest thing the universe has to a compromise between the two at the moment. Which is pretty funny; knock them both out and make them get along to save the world, like kids in a car.

After the situation is resolved, you gonna step back and allow them to destroy each other?

Cory had no hair...Perhaps he did when he succumbed to the black mold i flung upon him when he tried home invade my palace when i having the place renovated to get rid of that annoying Justice spirit that kept harping on me to free all mages. Its honestly been so long, i don't recall if the flesh sacks possessed hair or no, but Cory has none now, so therefore the point remains.

I think there's a lot of potential for some interesting story possibilities if the Inquisitor and Adrian can become allies, bringing together the Inquisition and the Libertarians, who may also be aided by the Mages' Collective, from establishing settlements where mages can built a life for themselves to commandeering control of the templar forts that would otherwise threaten them.

Surrendering the freedom of the mages doesn't seem to be something that Adrian would concede her values on. Adrian is very passionate about what she believes in, including her condemnation of the failures of the Chantry controlled Circles. “If you really fear us so much, then kill us! Don't pretend that killing everything that makes us human isn't the same thing!”

Absolutely. It's not my fight, it's theirs. It's one of those moments where I'd step back and let fate and whoever has the will to win decide the future.

Oddly, both my Warden and Hawke had mage sympathetic leanings, but it was never because of the higher ideal. My warden loved Morrigan, Hawke loved Merrill and would do anything to protect her sister. It was purely those personal connections that shaped their leanings, rather than any greater cause.
