That begs the question of who in the world could have set the stage so well for this cataclysm?
Had a whole thread about that 2 weeks back. Us geniuses never got anywhere.

What if...the Inquisitor is behind it? And all this is all a ploy by them to gain continental influence.

It's just that I can't even conceive of an antagonist that could manipulate events of the past centuries so well, short of a Flemeth level entity.

The Grey Wardens, I think, are involved somehow. I don't know if they're the perpetrators or if they're trying to control the chaos after it begins, though. Beyond that... you'd need someone who could find the primeval thaig, and perhaps someone to separate the templars and Chantry. So widely spaced agents, probably, though the reach of the Wardens can be quite long.

I'd bet that this antagonist is either a shape changer, or they have an agent or two placed in every camp - Grey Warden (First Warden), mage, and Templar - subtly nudging things in the right direction.
I don't think Fiona could be bribed either way. She doesn't strike me as that kind of person.
I'm sure it wouldn't be. My theory only had her implementing it right at that moment due to suggestion by someone else. But it's likely wrong, anyway. The events of Asunder are, I think, peripheral to the ultimate plan.
Absolutely, I agree.
The whole of Thedas is in chaos, so I concur about the "ultimate plan". Regarding the Mage-Templar War specifically, might that better fit Lambert, given his role in the schism?
Lambert may be an ass, but he's a known entity. I don't think he would willingly support something like this.

I don't think they'd have had to. The mage/templar issue could have been brought to a boil at practically any moment with relatively few moves. You have that, you have the lyrium idol that can be grabbed as soon as a Blight clears out the Deep Roads, and then you just need to send Orlais into chaos... because that, I think, is the true objective. It's been said that the Stone lives beneath Orlais, and I believe that the Agents want something to do with that.
The Veil tears seem to me to be a desperate sort of red herring enacted when certain parties were calling for peace too quickly.

Also quite possible. Perhaps if Cole's an NPC possessing Lambert, he could tell us about Lambert's memories. However, we've seen inside Lambert's head, and I don't think he'd be deliberately acting in favor of chaos... perhaps the Black Divine made him a sleeper agent of some kind.

Ah, so you too think the Stone is the red lyrium. I concur. And so the Veil tears were a Plan B so to speak, when stuff wasn't proceeding as planned. Even still, it takes some pretty serious magic to make the Veil fall like it is. The antagonist must either be pretty powerful or have an artifact like the Fen'Harel mask.
I was thinking about what was brought up on the prior page, about Cole sensing something dark about Lambert.
But what could it have been? It's possible that you might be reading a tad bit too much into that section, but who knows.
I wonder if those crazy cult-guys, the Venatori, are relevant at all. They kept saying 'He will rise again!' in that gameplay demo. So I wonder if this dude they're talking about has something to do with the veil tearing, so he can 'rise again' or something. Don't know who 'He' is. Or they're just a bunch of loons who shout random crap.
Maybe... it's Flemeth! ....Yeah, no.
It has like no basis but, still. I'm obsessing over what, exactly, the Venatori are.

Venatori is a Latin term meaning "hunters". I too think they worship are in league with the big bad.

I actually think the Stone is ordinary blue lyrium in some form, perhaps a vein even more enormous than the one powering the Urn of Sacred Ashes, that the Agents want to corrupt with red lyrium for some reason.
As for He... possibly the Maker? Or one of the Forgotten Ones? I doubt that it's any individual Old God, somehow.

We don't even know what they want yet. Maybe they have a cause we could sympathize with.

Hmmm, that's a pretty sound theory with The Stone. As for the antagonist...I'm not too sure if the Maker is responsible, lest he was trying to pull some Noah's Ark BS. Perhaps a Forgotten One...the Formless One comes to mind.

That's a Forbidden One. Those are the big four demons; the Forgotten Ones are the evil Dalish gods.
It might also be Fen'Harel. Or someone we haven't seen at all yet, probably connected in some way to the temples in the primeval thaig (the codex entry for the Profane mentions "feasting upon the gods," which I suspect refers to the lyrium... whether it's red or blue lyrium is unclear, and the hunger demon doesn't seem to make the distinction).

Ah, my bad. Now, Fen'Harel could very well be at work here, or a Forgotten One. Perhaps the Forgotten Ones were tired of being forgotten.

Dumat, perhaps? They may serve Corypheus.
Dumat? I would hope it's not Dumat, because if he survived dying at the hands of a Grey Warden, it means the other 3 could have also escaped death's embrace as well.

I doubt it. Dumat is one of seven, he never struck me as a "He" on his own.

I think it's very probable that they did. The clearest way to make the OGB not make a huge difference is to have all of the Old Gods still alive anyway; perhaps it just takes a long time to regenerate.

Oh boy. Even so, I don't think that the Old Gods are responsible this time, unless it's one we have yet to encounter.

I wonder if Adrian would resort to blood magic
I don't think she really needs to, to be honest. If anything, she has raw power in spades, given her use of Inferno and Firestorm spells. I actually think this is her:
