I actually hated how bioware handled Uldred though. He was actually trying to be reasonable at one point with his ''Now, now let's not get hasty.''
I really wanted to recruit him and his abominations to help me fight the blight, I'm sure he could see reason in helping out, if I wasn't railroaded into fighting him, specially if I helped him clear the templars downstairs.

From what I recall, Xil is going Dalish for her first run; I don't think that a Dalish elf would necessarily trust a shemlen Circle mage (given what Ariane said about the role of the Circles in the defeat of the Dales) or a templar (who have hunted the clans down).
