I'll be nice and wait until April.  If this is true, then the physical copy should be out in a few days.  I will be going to a bookstore/grocery store or where ever to read this for myself.

I sent you a PM with a bit more information on copyright infringement stuff and why sites like IGN, GameSpot, etc. don't post tumblr links. If you're interested in further reading on the technicalities of the law it should be of great use. But yeah, enjoy when you get your hands on it.

The OXM preview mentioned 40 different endings and Mark Darrah later came on the forums to give more clarity regarding the different endings.

If the preview was fake he would not have done that.

If you'll notice, that article's source is this thread.

Good point. But they are certainly putting their credibility as journalists on the line.

Better late than never.   ;)

In general, it seems very likely that this is legit.  I'm still holding on to my salt shaker until I read it for myself.

I again apologize if I came off as harsh in my previous posts.

I am looking forward to this, I am. But I'm also beginning to worry that it's going to get so complicated you're going to have to set up a computer program just to help you keep track of all the variables. I also read that you can only take so many healing potions along as well as have cool downs. Sounds like I'll be dying a lot....oh well.

Hello! I can't verify whether or not all of the information from the article is correct since I haven't yet read it and the journalist might have gotten some things wrong (you never know), BUT! I think I can confirm that the magazine itself is very real!

Natashina, I agree with you that there are some pretty convincing fakes out there, but this doesn't appear to be one of them!

Here's a picture of David Gaider holding said magazine: click

I believe we should be seeing the magazine in stores sometime in April.

EDIT: Actually, I read that it's the May 2014 issue. My mistake!

There's nothing "wrong" with it. I just don't care what happens to characters when the game is over.

Frankly, I don't care what happens to minor NPCs at all.

But I will say that I'm playing a video game, not watching a movie or a book. Video games are differentiated from other mediums by the interactivity of the experience. As much content as possible should be present in the interactive portions of the game, the parts that consist of just watching or reading should be minimised.

Hmm. If you don't care what happens to the minor NPCs and I do.... what then?

Maybe we can have a clearly designated skip button so Mockingword and others who don't care about the NPCs and characters can skip them/end the game without seeing the epilogues and those of us who do care about all the characters, NPCs and even animals can sit through content/an epic and hopefully thorough epilogue that includes all of them. :D

Welcome to the forums and thank you very much for that.  :D

I feel like a bit of a jerk, but I've seen too many leaks and rumors.  However, we now have Word of Gaider to confirm it.  It doesn't get anymore concrete than that.  I'll be re-reading the OP and offering my thoughts later.  For now, homemade ribs await.

But you see here is where people's subjective opinions of what makes an ending an ending comes into effect. Because yes, you have the dark ritual, ultimate sacrifice, and other warden endings for your character, but what about for the game as a whole? Because the epilogue is in the form of a slide show, each of those slides changing in a sequence could be counted as being a different ending. So for example let's take the dwarves slides regarding their outcome. You have either harrowmont or bhelan as king, there's 2 different endings already, then you have whether the anvil was or wasn't destroyed, there are two more. Combie that, however, with the previous variables of who the king is and the endings diverge, becoming 4 slides for the anvil choice. Now combine that with the player character results and you have 12 different endings.

Dark ritual ---> Bhelan king ----> Anvil Destroyed

Dark Ritual ----> Bhelan king ---> Anvil Saved

Dark Ritual ----> Harrowmont king ---> Anvil Destroyed

Dark Ritual ----> Harrowmont king ----> Anvil Saved

And so on, and so forth.

So really we don't know how much divergence the endings really have, but there is a necessity to separate the ending of your characters story, and the ending of the games world state, which are two different endings.

I read somewhere (The Escapist I think...) that the choices of the the previous games would have minor variances of DA:I's ending and that the game itself would have about 40 major choices that would affect the ending.

Yep, that information comes straight from Mark Darrah:

"Hey guys,

I just want to clarify the endings in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age Inquisition's endings variations come in three levels

1. Minor variations based upon choices you make in the game or previous games. There are HUNDREDS of these variations.

2. Major variations based upon larger decisions in the game. There are about forty of these

3. Completely unique endings. There are a small number of these"

I just picked up the magazine myself at the bookstore. More interesting tidbits from the article:

  • Mike Laidlaw on the Inquisition: "You're not just the leader of the Jedi Council, you're founding the entire Jedi Order."
  • On dragon fights: During an encounter demo, the mage's Ice Wall melted "due to the dragon's fire breath." The article also noted the person running the demo died before defeating the dragon.
  • On Xbox-specific features: Kinect-enabled voice commands are being explored, as well as SmartGlass or sharing features for Xbox One. Quote from Cameron Lee: "...We want Inquisition to be an experience you're able to take with you everywhere - to work, on the commute home, in the living room, into bed." *eyebrow waggle*
  • On Party Banter: "One other addition you can look forward to is more dynamic party banter...For the first time, you as the player-character are able to chime in as well."

"Bioware is promising a staggering 40 possible endings for the game, dependent not only on choices made in character generation but by actions taken throughout the storyline. [Mark] Darrah stresses, however, that the endings will all be meaningfully different from one another. You won't find 40 endings with only slight degrees of variation between them."

excuse my extreme skepticism

but BioWare and endings have left an extremely sour taste in my mouth

Origins?  NWN?  BG2?  Not all of them are bad.

From what I've seen the most complaints have been around ME3 and DA2's endings.  The rest seem to be fine imho.

Yeah but I'm more concerned about they have put out in the past few years than games they made before being acquired by EA

You just seem so unhappy with BioWare in general and haven't seemed to express any real excitement over the upcoming game.  I've seen you express a lot cynicism and discontent based on previous games, and I'm not giving you a hard time for that.  You seem so down all the time and have admitted to going into threads in the past just to derail them. <slight glare>

Do you have anything positive to say about the thread topic?
