Yeah. I don't really get that. Is that real? I mean, if they're magical bees, I guess I can understand... but just a regular jar of regular bees... ok...

Its a fictional universe. The bees could be a different species than any found in the real world that are a lot more aggressive, and with a more painful sting. Maybe their sting is like that of  bullet ants.

The bullet ants btw supposedly have the most painful insect bite in the world. They reduce the guy in that vid to a puddle of tears.

So, fantasy bees then. Close enough.

Ah those things, they're evil and they do have the most powerful insect bite in the world basically the equivalent of being shot which continues non stop for a day or something like that.

There is a type of flying insect called the tarantula hawke, it's a wasp with the second most powerful bite in the world that is unbearable you and the only thing you can do is scream though it's short term about 3 minutes.

Getting stung by either of them would suck, I imagine that it would be closer to hawk wasp just more ferocious which is something I agree with you with, who knows what kinda bees these are and how powerful they are, I don't think they're to happy with being trapped in a jar then thrown at someone or something.

I feel for BioWare on this one, big time.  The fans that follow the forums and/or all the developer comments know what's up, but that misconception is spreading to the masses now.  I'm glad that Convention Season is just around the corner and the average fan won't have to live with those errors for long.

Yes this is kinda sad...Because the misinformed masses will complain when they realize that something they expected in the game is not there and there are more likely to blame the company for it.Besides I assume that at this point Bioware can't correct/clarify all the errors in this article and every similar article, without revealing details they don't wish to reveal until after the game is released...Which makes this whole situation rather confusing.

Speaking as someone on BSN in the days leading up to both DA2 and ME3, this was probably the best I've ever seen these forums handle something like this.

Probably because this news was busted before the game came out, whereas the others were fueled by the anger of having played the game expecting something only for it to not be there.

And I can't give the devs enough props for not letting unrealistic expectations fester into full blown rage on release day. All it took was a few simple tweets.

They really have been great throughout all these encounters with "journalists."

Can't really be sure for that, journalists are known to exaggerate after all.

Er, could you try that again?  It came out a little garbled.

Great preview. Enjoyed it a lot. Focused on enough of the development stuff I was really interested in learning.

(Trying not to get excited ... Must pace self.)

PS. As someone who has written previews for 7 years and been to BioWare even, awesome place, I always feel I should offer my insight into the process - but then regret it because people choose to stick to their own guesswork about the process anyways. But, factual errors in previews happen for a whole bunch of reasons that are independent of either studios or journalists being bad/unprofessional. If anyone is interested, in the process or feedback on how I personally feel the preview process could be improved, feel free to message me. For readers of previews, I'd suggest not taking everything absolutely literally, I guess.

I hope you realize that the article had some serious errors in it.  Ones that the devs have had to Tweet and/or come onto the boards to correct.  I'd recommend you read through the thread.  Do not take that article at face value.

The preview was great, IMO. (I got that excited feeling for DA all over again. That's what I went into reading it looking for.)

Looks great, other than the crafting... I am just not fond of crafting, and it sounds as tedious as Awakening but instead of being able to buy the ingredients you have to hunt them down through large maps, also it sounds mandatory. The idea of an item dissapearing if I pick it too much seems headache inducing as well.

Everything sounds wonderful, but crafting, but I never have been the target audience for that. DA2 was my favorite due to how easy the ingredients were to obtain.

Any chance we can go the whole game without having to craft anythig?

Fair warning to those that are just reading the OP and not the rest of the thread.

That article has some key facts wrong, including going to Nevarra and the Free Marches.  Please check the Twitter thread and ask the posters in there for links regarding other points that OXM might have gotten wrong.

Please don't take anything you hear/read as fact unless it comes from the DA team themselves.

We haven't had to craft anything in any of the other games or expansions. I doubt it'll be mandatory now.

I'm sure building anticipation for the game was the objective of the preview writer. And it succeeded. However, it succeeded by being misleading, whether intentional or not. Excising the misleading bits still leaves plenty to anticipate.

Same here. I never saw the point of crafting in games. I'm an adventurer not a cobbler! :P

I just hope you can also pay someone to do it for you and that crafting isn't the only way to get cool dragon armor like in Skyrim <_<

Also I suspect the wildlife system will make me painstakingly reload everytime I kill a goat by accident for fear I'll be left with an area with no wildlife and/or annoying enemy creatures I'll have to stop and fight at every turn.

I think so. Sounds like a cool game.

I read previews wanting info about design philosophy and studio/series history etc anyway rather than wanting to find out specific details of this or that.

(In fact, I most enjoy playing these kinds of games when I know nothing about that. Mass Effect was like that for me - so far, haven't finished yet. I managed to stay totally in the dark.)

I'm kind of curious about whether Crestwood is one of the major or minor choices. Common sense probably dictates that it's a major choice but I dunno. Crestwood doesn't seem like that important of a place.

4. The Inquisitor:

  • There will be 4 voices for the Inquisitor 2 for each gender, for all races
  • To address why the same voices apply to all races, Mike Laidlaw made the following statement: "It's a matter of file size...if we were to have eight voices, two for each race, we would be shipping on 14 discs or something. We figured that with four voices, that would give players enough options while staying within our size limitations"
  • Bioware is currently exploring options to differentiate the voices, like changing the pitch of the audio.

None of the voices concern me except for the qunari/kossith, whatever it may be, because it has to be so different and alien. Not just the timbre but the manner of speaking. I feel like they'll need to record different lines just for this race because they don't act like any other, even if they use the same VA.

Dwarves, Elves, Humans can all pass for each other vocally, depending on the circumstances and heritage. But qunari are completely different.

Sten at most had an American accent, but nothing fancy and not a particularly deep voice.  The Arishok had a really deep voice, but his was a characteristic of him and not all Qunari had a voice that deep.  Here's a couple of examples.

Right, it doesn't necessarily have to be deep (timbre), but qunari do pace their words in a certain way and use specific terms (vashedan, bas, asala) and level of gruff seriousness that reminds me of Vulcans. At least this has applied to every kossith we've encountered so far. It would be a bit weird to have a qunari who sounds like any other person in the world and didn't use the terminology he/she was raised with, even if we have control over what they say.

Regarding the depth of the character's voice, I lean towards the Arishok because his sounds the coolest! But more important is the manner of speaking, if that makes sense.
