Fission Mailed on my part regarding the math. I stand corrected.

But yeah, there is room for a DA:O-style epilogue. If the devs wish to spice things up by having certain combinations ripple out as separate endings, all the better.

6. Customization:

  • Armour weights are no longer class specific. Meaning a rogue can wear a mage's robes, and a mage can wear a warrior's armour. The magazine speculates the penalties will be similar to the  fatigue penalties used in DA: Origins

If things were to be exactly how you say there would be 21!/ 7! x (21-7)! possible combinations => 21!/ 7! x 14! = (15 x 16 x 17 x 18 x 19 x 20 x 21) / 1x 2 x 3 x 4 x 5 x 6 x 7 = 586051200 / 5040 = 116280 possible combinations.  

 

Not only you are completely and mathematically right, but imaging the marketing guy trying to sell the "game with more than 100.000 endings" gives me endless goosebumps  :)

Thank you, Bioware, for not going with DLC companions.  Just focus on making quality mission DLCs and it'll be all good.

 

And I wish they hadn't said anything about the number of endings.  If the game doesn't deliver on exactly 40 distinct, impactful, non-color coded endings, people will claim that we've been misled, and I'm very tired of discussion of Bioware games being dominated by how they end, thankyouverymuch.

40 possible endings !? How will they carry all those variables in DA4 ? ( and no, I'm not refering to The Keep, but their implications in the world state) 

 

Color me a skeptic... no, color me cynical. I just hope DA:I is enjoyable with good replay value and perhaps that's what in referred to here as the "40 possible endings" line by Bioware.  

 

Don't get me wrong, the rest of the information sounds good and I can't wait to see more of DA:I.

Honestly, no matter what they say about their endings, some people are going to complain. No matter what Bioware says, for some people, if the ending(s) aren't exactly how they imagine they should be, they'll complain. Though, to be fair, if the ending deserves complaining about then people SHOULD complain.

 

What's distinct for one person might not be distinct-enough for the next.

As far as I know, nothing official has been said in that regards. However, it's worth noting that Bioware has been really good about ripping out DA2's mechanical problems (like armor and class restrictions), so I suspect we will get some sort of overhaul of the weapon system. Exactly how much or how little ... who knows?

I am guessing the bees have to do with alchemy and crafting. I wonder if they'll be a bee enchantment I can put on my weapon. Get your arse over here, Sandal, because Falon'Din knows we're going to try.

I'm curious that Orlais and the Dales are listed as seperate regions. We know from some of the book excerpts

I'm really excited that Nevarra is included. I really hope Cumberland is included, the World of Thedas book described it as one of the most attractive cities in Thedas.

 

The thing I'll be most curious about testing is the whole "ecosystem" system that they seem to be setting up.

They stated that companions won't be limited to a single weapon type (cassandra can use two-handed weapons, Varric daggers). They haven't confirmed that there'll be class restriction for weapons, but they are skeptical about letting everyone use every weapons. Don't know if they changed their minds, but at this point I'd bet on class restrictions for weapons than freedom to use every weapon.

I'll believe it when I see it. They sell a lot of DLC with those characters so I doubt a little flak here and there is going to get them to stop doing it. And does anyone even think "Javik was just taken out of the game to sell to us" when they think about Mass Effect 3's problems?

Not a chance. What BioWare considers different endings doesn't match up with what the rest of human society considers different endings...

The dialogue wheels seem compelling, I like the sound of the tree different wheels. The endings however, unless it's a mistake or they mean 40 possible epilogue slides then it'll probably be like ME3's "wildly different conclusions" and "16 different endings."

The storyteller and story reader in me both just went *squee* over this. 40 possible endings?! That's...well, that's probably the coolest thing I've heard so far. Also the fact that we can, in effect, change the ecosystem in a given area  by simply over-using resources is brilliant. It basically adds a whole new challenge to the game having to manage the need for more resources against the need to keep an area thriving....I like.

They've already talked about post-game content (as in, you can explore the world after the end of the main plot) so I'd calm down on the ME3 comparisons a bit.
