Toolset installation troubles

I installed the DA Toolset v1.01 with no errors. When I tried to run the Toolset however I got a "Unable to connect to the database" error. I followed the instructions on this wiki page to restore the database and configured to the toolset to find it

When I now try to run the Toolset, the thing just crashes. No error message. All I got out of the windows debugger is that DragonAgeToolset.exe caused an access violation error.

My google-fu has failed me and I couldn't find a sollution for this. Anyone here got a clue as to how I can fix this and get the Toolset to run?

Alternatively: All I want to do is modify some existing scripts, tweak a value in some 2da files and maybe add some new talents. Anyone know of some standalone tools that let me do that and don't require the sacrifice of my first born to install?

I have not had this problem. I would (IMO) uninstall the toolset and the database and try again. Windows version?

Tried that already and got the same result. First a "Unable to connect to the database" error and after following instructions to resolve that, the toolset just crashes on startup.

I'm running WinXP.

I don't know if this will help. I have Vista, and unless I put scripts in a build module (to look at later) that are not supposed to be there, I don't have a toolset crash anymore. http://social.biowar...se_installation

@luna1124
Thanks for the replies, but I'm throwing in the towel. The crash on startup is linked to mssqlio.dll, so I reckon there's some sort of issue with the sql server and/or the database on my setup. However neither the Toolset or MSSQL give me any sort of indication that there is a problem (besides the former crashing on startup) and as far as I can tell everything's been configured properly.
That leaves the known issue documented on the wiki page you linked where the SQL server packaged with the Toolset doesn't instal properly on WinXP Sp3. I tried another SQL server version, but ran into the same problem. So no DA Toolset for me.

I don't suppose anyone reading this who does a have working Toolset setup would feel like helping me out with creating a mod? What I had in mind was see if it was possible to add some melee talents to the Arcane Warrior tree.

There are 3 mods for that, I use two of them (dual weapon and two handed weapon). They just add these talents to arcane warrior. Here is dual weapon.. http://www.nexusmods...age/mods/1281/?
I don't use his other mod, weapon and shield because it conflicts with a stamina potion mod I use.
I know you probably wanted to create something yourself, but I think you can get the toolset installed if you don't give up.
Please try again. The toolset is so much fun!!

I know about those mods. According to the comment section however, the dual-wield version doesn't work correctly (at least not the one compatible with Combat Tweaks), so I figured I'd take a stab at making such a mod for myself and here we are.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but after bashing my head against a Toolset shaped wall for two days I think it's time to give up. Getting the SQL server to work properly requires more knowledge of setting up SQL servers on a XP system that I have.
