According to this :

http://forum.bioware...sition-preview/

There will be 40 endings.

Okay, grain of salt, sure, but even so.

Bioware, people were burned the last time the moon and stars were promised to them. I'm talking ME3's ending, which, people were expencting a DA:O-caliber epilogue and instead got a rushed (yes, when cut dialogue mentions Geth Primes under the command of Shepard, the actual ending, which features NO War Assets present, despite there being dialogue, thus vision, intended for it, that gets to be called rushed ) DA2-like ending.

So, is this for real? Or are we just talking cutscenes with Fade Tears closing in 40 different colors?

Now, 40 endings are A LOT and most likely an "ending" represents a certain combination of "plot states" for multiple "plot threads". Something along the lines of :

1) Continent-spanning conflicts

- The issue with the Fade (Destroy/Control/Synthesis)

(And yes, I know I am mean, but Bioware should not be left to live ME3 down, not after that whole "artistic integrity" display of hubris)

- Mage/Templar War (Likely connected with the Fade Tears)

- The Elven Question (possibly continental issue of rallying Alienages and setting up an Inquisition-friendly Elven State in the Dales)

2) Regional Conflicts

- Orlais Civil War (Celene or Gaspard) (Bonus : Elven Alienages and the Dales)

- ??? Ferelden Legitimacy Troubles ??? Mac Tir (Anora) vs Guerrin (Eamon/Teagan/Alistair) ???  (Ferelden) (Orlesian spill-over also possible) (Bonus : Elven Alienages)

- ??? Kirkwall rule Succession ??? void left in the wake of death of Meredith and/or disappearance of Hawke ??? Civil War In Kirkwall, Involvement From Other Free Cities ??? (Free Marches) (Bonus : Qunari Invasion Part 2)

- ??? Nevarran Royal Troubles ??? Sickly king a puppet to necromancer mages ??? Possible Tevinter Angle ??? (Bonus : Accentuated Mage/Templar violence) (Nevarra)

In which case, especially if there is interplay between these, meaning that Thedas with Fade Tears closed and Mages Suppressed will look very different from Thedas with Fade Tears closed and Templars Suppressed, yes, I could definitely see that large number of endings.

It's just again, ME3 was hyped and all promises of a glorious finale were left up in the air. Hopefully Bioware has not bitten more than it can (promise to) chew yet again.

If this turns into a "complain about ME3" thread, it will be shut down. Duly warned.

Insofar as DAI goes, at this point you're unlikely to get any of us to comment on anything which would be taken as a promise or be open to interpretation. So take the information for what it is, until we decide whether we wish to talk about it further.

MESSAGE POPULAIRE !

Hey guys,

I just want to clarify the endings in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age Inquisition's endings variations come in three levels

1. Minor variations based upon choices you make in the game or previous games. There are HUNDREDS of these variations.

2. Major variations based upon larger decisions in the game. There are about forty of these

3. Completely unique endings. There are a small number of these
