Hey guys,

I just want to clarify the endings in Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age Inquisition's endings variations come in three levels

1. Minor variations based upon choices you make in the game or previous games. There are HUNDREDS of these variations.

2. Major variations based upon larger decisions in the game. There are about forty of these

3. Completely unique endings. There are a small number of these

That's more like it! Makes sense now, before it sounded like '40 individual endings'. Thanks for making it clearer =)

The ending that everyone will be looking for are.

1.Ultimate sacrifice

2.Follower sacrifice them self or dies like me 2

3.Everyone lives

4. Everyone dies

The 36 other ending just fleshes out the four main ending, brings color to the endings. :)

Well snap. And just yesterday I had said that I felt like allowing such an open-ended statement to blow into the media like that was a move I felt was not the wisest the studio has made, all things considered.

Nothing but love for both teams overall, but hot damn, after years of only being a Mass Effect fan it feels really, really good to be big on Dragon Age now as well. People weren't kidding when they told me the level of communication with the fans is much greater on this side of the fence.

Yeah I figured. Like in DAO there were minor changes like "if you helped that brother and sister escape she married Teagan" or "If you gave that lady ownership of the bar, she marries Teagan", both would be different endings even if everything else was the same

...actually what happens if you do both of those in one playthrough?

Than you, Mr. Darrah, for providing clarification. This sounds like exactly the kind of "meaty" epilogue that made DA:O/DA:A, at least for me, such truly great experiences.

Thank you again for stopping by this humble thread. I think you have made many people happy and even more excited!

Appreciate the clarification, Mr. Darrah. Will be interesting to see how these endings will shape and develop as we play Inquisition, and of course the level of impact they will ultimately have in the end. Can't wait.

I feel strongly about how much I disliked the last few games I've played of Bioware's(namely DA2 and ME3), so I'm kinda maybe hoping the things I hear before release are good things that actually stick it to the end, yeah. As for a price to pay, the only price would be my future purchases or lack thereof. Not inherently worth more or less than anyone else's, but I've stuck with them for years for a reason. I'd hate to switch teams.

Best way to tell them how you feel is to stop giving them your dollars/pounds/currency of location if you're unhappy or do the opposite and give them money when you're having a blast so yeah. It works. :)

Of course, I completely agree with you. If BioWare ever makes a game I don't enjoy I plan on doing the same. :P

Do the endings available in DA:O qualify as completely unique, though?

They all amount to, 'Archdemon dead, Blight defeated'. There are major variations on that ending available based on your Origin and choices made, but...unique?

Just my two cents, of course, but I'd have laid the various permutations available to Origins endings as falling into the '40 major variations' segment of Inquisition, which might mean something pretty awesome with regards to the small number of unique endings.

I would guess that Mark is referring to something like Ultimate Sacrifice vs. Dark Ritual, not some hypothetical ending where the archdemon wins.

The current story arc isn't finished, after all (and still won't be even after Inquisition). There have to be some constants.

I agree that there isn't likely to be a 'Archdemon wins' ending to Inquisition, but US vs DR aren't really different enough to be categorised as 'unique'...are they?

While there is a 'major variation' between them, which is based on your choices, the net result for the game world is much the same.

Anyway, I certainly won't be upset if we get Origins-esque endings, it's just that - to my reading - the post by Mark suggests something more, is all.

I definitely classify US and DR different enough to be treated as unique, myself.

Is that 'just a feeling', or can you elaborate? Both answers are equally valid, of course.

To my mind, literally the only difference is survival or not of the warden that killed the arch demon. There are some head canon differences going forward from that, but it just doesn't seem "unique".

Again, NOT hating on. Origins - loved that game, but the endings all felt like slightly different flavours of the same meal.

I know, and not assuming anything, just feel like the post is suggestive of something...bigger than we've had in the past.

Well, I mean, I consider the fact that you can't walk around chatting with people afterward when you're dead kind of a big deal, and I consider the statement being made in sacrifice or tense trust (or full trust, I guess) also a big issue. So forth, heh. But I guess I know what you mean, now that I think about it.

I feel like this is probably what Mark means by totally unique endings, though, either way. But maybe I'm wrong and there's a whole 'nother endgame for certain conditions. :)
