It's funny you mentioned everyone but Javik, because I thought he was the best in this regard. (Well, every regard, but that's just delving into my tastes.) I mean, the counterpoint is that Javik is so well-integrated that the game feels wrong without him, and that's its own degree of brouhaha, but man. His stuff is good.

Same with Sebastian. At least, I think having him around and his scenes with Elthina made the uh... climax more shocking.

That said, I don't think I would like Cole. If he is a mage... I don't want another blood mage. I don't want another abomination/mage. If they DO have another "spirit sensitive" mage like Wynne or Anders, I think Solas would fill that role. I am hoping that Cole's spot from the survery went the way of the dodo when they came up with Vivienne, Solas, and decided to bring back Varric. Maybe Varric took his spot if he was going to be a rogue.

I thought Shale was well integrated into the story. But I didn't feel like Sebastian was. Probably because you never really got him in the first act. If he would have been there from the beginning (after doing his quest like you have to do with Merrill, Anders, Isabela, Fenris and Aveline), he probably would have felt more integrated.

But I'm glad there won't be any DLC characters. I'm sure there will be some sort of Day One DLC, but it will probably be a dog of some sort, or some new armor, or weapons... Maybe a different type of steed, since we're getting horses in Inquisition.

Cole is a rather childish/immature psychopath/murderer.

So was Zevran

So was Fenris.

It is tradition for the M/M relationships at this point.

Between Cole/Zevran/Fenris Cole seems the most capable of growing/getting better honestly, and he appeals to people with caretaker personality types (like myself).

Cole will almost certainly not be a romance option.

Cole could be a romance option. Didn`t you see "Ghost"? He could use Woopie Goldberg as a stand-in for the kissing bits.

^ Response to the 6 Males 3 females as companions.....

I just doubt they would do this. (the DA games aren't that unblanaced in terms of classes and sex)

Can you just imagine the striaght male outcry about only having three potential LIs? (and for some reason I don't think Viv is going to be a LI)

3 character slots to fill.

I'm calling 1 female (race open, class I'm thinking rogue for some reason), and two human males (a warrior and a mage)

Origins was that unbalanced gender wise. Wynne, Morrigan, and Leliana AND Wynne wasn't a potential LI. Because Shale doesn't really count due to being a DLC character and not giving a crap about what gender in general.

Yeah, i don't agree with you on this. I for one don't think that either Zevran or Fenris are Childish/immature, imo they are made from what they have experienced. Zevran was raised to kill and Fenris just hates EVERYTHING lol, but that don't make them childish or immature. Btw how come you don't count Anders into the M/M "traditional" relationships? just curious :)

It is still there, but Jennifer left last summer and her follower might have been rewritten extensively since. It's probably not her character anymore.

I doubt that. It is big job you know.

Only if you wanted to diddle with Caspar. "Functionally a child". Way to squick.

Speaking for the straight males. It wouldn`t bother me if I "only" got 3 love interests. I wouldn`t whine if I only got 1, either.

I'm pretty sure that Solas, Vivienne and Varric were all *internally* designed and confirmed as companions months if not years before the survey was even published. I don't think it's accurate that the roster of survey companions was everyone that they had in mind, and everybody else was created later. Given that they were aiming to release in late 2013, I imagine that the companion list was well and truly finished by August 2012, if not significantly earlier. There simply isn't time to cut and redesign people like that, not when so many other departments (art, cinematics, the other writers) depend on things being locked down as early as possible.

In fact, David even said just a few days ago that Maevaris Tilani was created for the comics *too late* to make it into DA Inquisition in any meaningful form, and her first appearance in the comic was the same month (August 2012) as the survey came out. She would've had to be designed months before that, given how long those comics take to produce.

When you think of the amount of work that goes into concepting, designing and implementing companions into the game, I just can't imagine that they'd cut and change people as easily as some fans think. By the time that survey leaked, I'd expect it was far too late to change the companion roster as drastically as cutting three people or whatever - and that aside, I'm pretty sure Varric, Vivienne and Solas existed anyway (just not in the survey).

DG was saying thst in reply to me, So I am familiar with it lol.

Call it wishful thinking if you want, but I still firmly believe Cole can be and likely will be a romancable Companion in DAI. Either against DG's preferred path for the character, or perhaps he was throwing curve balls. We shall see in due time.

Plus Cole is adorable.

Either way I am less than thrilled with the current crop of male LI possiblities and http://dgaider.tumbl...ater-and-i-wont

3 is what we had in Origins. Both genders. Zev, Lel, and Morrigan/Alistair.

Last post was a bit mangled due to doing this on tablet.

Adding that Anders certainly falls into psychopath/murderer and reiterating that people shoule not be locked into the idea that Cole has not or could not have grown a little since the events of Asunder. What is the purpose of time passing if everyone remains ststic? Justice certainly changed between Awakening and DA2.

If that is the case and they have those characters "squared away" before the survey leak then it becomes a question of who made the cut after the survey. To which I would point out that Sera, Iron Bull, Cullen, Dorian?/Mustachio and Feathers have appeared in concept art was made POST-leak.

Solas, Vivi, Varric, Cassandra (made prior to leak)

Cullen, Sera, Iron Bull, Feathers, and Dramatic Mahogany Man (seen in assets post leak)

What do you think Cole he's 'likely' to be a LI?
Regardless, I seriously doubt he'll be a LI, and I really hope he won't, no offence to everyone.

You don't go from being functionally a child to a full blown adult mentally in the space of what... less than a year? If he is in the game, I highly doubt he will be a LI.

Justice/Anders was even less time. Cole is a spirit in a fantasy setting. Not sure he needs a decade.

For the moment, everything is right in this pic :

tumblr_n1x51vkPfZ1qgyqveo5_r1_1280.png

Except for a warrior being mistaken for a mage. Mustache guy has a pike and a sword, not the most poorly designed staff ever.

And that would, of course, make a 5-2-2 split.

So, Anders and/or Justice was mentally a child according to you? Before the "merging" i mean...

Edit: Are we getting of topic? :S

I don't really understand why it would be a matter of making "the cut", though. Who were they cutting, when did they cut them and why would there even be "excess" companions to cut?

Why would they design and concept more characters than they needed? Surely Mike Laidlaw, Mark Darrah and Gaider would sit down in a room some time in 2011 or 2012 and map out how many companions they needed, how many they could do, and who they would be. It might've taken a while with lots of revisions - as it seems happened with DAO and DA2 - but surely they'd do this before making concept art and the like? My point about the survey is that the companion roster was likely decided a long time before it was even made. There would be no "cutting" after that point - it was far too late.

And being seen in assets and concept art is a poor way to estimate who is in the game, for the obvious reason that Bioware completely control which bits of information are released. If they don't want a particular companion to be publicly known, they just won't talk about them, ever. We can hardly guess the existence of someone who is never shown in anything, or mentioned, after all.

In many respects the survey (though frustrating for the devs) probably gave us a glimpse at characters who they wouldn't have talked about until *years* later.

I think there's a guerrilla theory that moustache guy is an arcane warrior (hence, a mage), wielding a staff and a sword. He certainly doesn't look clothed properly for a warrior.
