Everyone was mentally a child at one point. You don't think characters can grow?

You're assuming that spirits have the capacity to understand human sexuality though. Or that they even grow and learn about emotions like humans do.

If they don't, and it's a fundamental part of their nature, then no amount of "growth" would make Cole aware of or interested in any sort of relationship.

  • Oghren: You have memories, right? Kristoff's memories.
  • Justice: Yes.
  • Oghren: And Kristoff was married? You have memories of that, yes?
  • Justice: Yes.
  • Oghren: Aha! So you must know what I'm talking about!
  • Justice: Must I?
  • Oghren: Come on! Kristoff must have buttered the southern pony in his day.
  • Justice: I do not believe Kristoff has ever seen a southern pony, let alone buttered it. What does that even mean?
  • Oghren: (Sigh) Nothing. It means nothing.

While I sympathize with the female Shep short-coming for ME3, only 18% of people play female Shep, so it's not that high on a sales perspective, so I can understand (Not saying it's justified) to pay more attention to male players.

Ok...but...that means almost 20% of Mass Effect sales came from people who wanted to play femShep. That isn't a majority no, but take that away and its a significant hit to Bioware's profit.

Additionally, I have no problem with males outnumbering women as companions. I do have an issue with them outnumbering women two to one. Literally, double the amount of men over women. That isn't a just a skew like in past games. And yes, the argument can be made that there is Loghain and Carver or whatever which skew the data more, but those aren't full time companions. And that ratio of companions you can have for the majority of the game is all I care about. If we were going by people who can be in your party at some point you might as well add Daveth and Jory to your male DA:O companions list.

And why is it only straight men would be upset by the lack of female companions? Because our companions are just there for eye candy? <_< I'm interested in seeing more then three female characters cause ya know, I want to see many diverse female characters.

That said, I would rather see a second female warrior, as unlikely as that seems haha. (or, someone suggested they changed the Tevinter Magister character to a woman. I'd be cool with that too.) Or the badass braided elf girl.

For the moment, everything is right in this pic :

tumblr_n1x51vkPfZ1qgyqveo5_r1_1280.png

This is basically... exactly what I want. Exactly. o_o

Because honestly screw class balance. I really don't feel a third rogue is necessary.  Some may run two warriors (me, always) or two mages, but two rogues is pretty useless imo.  And if you're playing a rogue?  Fagetaboutit.

So for me this pic is ideal.  Especially since it includes both Cullen and the moustache guy as a mage, Dorian or no (though Dorian would be excellent).  Sigh... if only life would be so grand.

he did learn envy, oh and friendship. plus that whole turning into vengeance thing. merrill would have missed that to and she was a LI.

Sure, but I don't think that logically extends to spirits being capable of learning about sex. It's not something that would ever be put down in the lore, but spirits might be able to understand some facets of humanity while never getting others. Justice seemed pretty clueless even when he had Kristoff's memories.

If David said Cole literally does not understand the concept of physical human relationships, period, then I think that stands.

(And wanting to "teach" him raises all sorts of frankly disturbing overtones of unequal power balances, wanting consent from a being that maybe *can't* ever be fully informed, and grooming.)

I would say logically if a spirit can learn any facet of humanity it could learn any other baring perhaps one that is totally against whatever their identity is/was. even then I don't think it's impossible see vengeance learning to ignore someones need for justice if it doesn't help his cause. true there are factors but cole being cole not valor, justice or whatever is a pretty big one.

speaking of what was cole before he was cole?

I do agree wanting to teach him is seriously disturbing.

Yeah, I think this sort of scenario, of Cole "growing" and understanding love and sexuality, is perfect for fanfiction and fanart (and I can't wait to read some, hehe) but if DG says it ain't gonna happen, then it ain't gonna happen :)

Hard to tell. There was clearly someone once called Cole, and the being now called Cole seems to share his memories.

Asunder made some inferences that he was a spirit or a demon, but I don't think it was ever definitively stated - I imagine if he appears in Inquisition, then this identity crisis forms the basis of his storyline.

We know for sure that we have 7 companions confirmed:

Cass - human female warrior
Varric - dwarf male rogue
Viv - human female mage
Solas - elf male mage
Iron Bull - qunari male warrior(?)
Sera - elf female rogue
Grey Warden - human male warrior

The Grey Warden is not confirmed. We have six confirmed companions.

The only people who are really possibilities still for the other two spots are:  Cullen, Dorian, Cole, and Moustache Guy.

We're going to learn about a new companion in April. We should probably stop assuming that we know all the companions.

There are:

1) Varric (roque)

2) Cassandra (warrior, tank)

3) Viviene (mage)

4) Sera (rogue)

5) Iron Bull (warrior)

6) Solas (mage)

7) Warden (warrior)

8) Cole (roque) - Hint:  Foodqisition: plastic fruit -> nice but not real.

9) ?

Thank´s for correcting, Elite. :)

You have two number 5s there ;)

We know seven companions and are missing two. If Cole is a companion, then we're missing one.

Given the number of other characters we've already seen associated with the Inquisition, I don't think it's very likely that it'll be someone totally random who we've never seen before in any art. My best guess is still some version of Dorian.

Has Varric's food been confirmed?  I always pegged Varric as the Bananas Foster because it's all about flair and flambe presentation (not to mention alcohol).

Eluvianix helped me out with the list!

Scotch bonnet candy, chili dog, surprise meatballs, deceptive wax fruit, giant rump roast, bananas foster, strawberry parfait, tequila + Skittles, shortbread, Ortolan bunting

Solas is confirmed as Scotch bonnet candy and Vivienne is the Ortolan bunting.

Thank you so much! I've heard about this list for weeks but I had no idea what/where it was!

And the writers are actually confirming it? wow

...tequilla and skittles seems like a much more helpful description then shortbread...

Just those two that I know of so far, confirmed through tweets!  Someone asked Patrick Weekes what Iron Bull's food was and his response was "Sorry, might constitute a spoiler. I prefer not to answer for anyone I wrote, and will not spoil a char someone else wrote."  So, they're not giving up all their secrets just yet.

That's so serious...I hope they had an actual meeting where they all sat down and collectively decided the companion to food analogies.
