In fact, everything we know *does* point to the fact that it was too late to significantly change the party characters in late 2012.

That's wrong or badly worded. Everything point to it being impossible to design a new follower past late 2012, not that the party composition (i.e. numbers, roles) couldn't be changed after that date. We have examples of followers/party being changed/cut after in previous games: Varric's personality, Jowan being ruled out has a full time companion in DAO, Shale getting cut because of time, Leliana losing her dragon hunter family descendant background, etc.

Late 2012, they had probably more than 9 followers designed. We know this is possible because there is an old tweet* talking about the writers/designers having to make decisions about whom to keep among the DA2 expansion followers and the one created for DAI (which they actually started to work on right after DAO was finished. Cassandra needs to have been designed in 2009 for the anime to be released in 2012, takes 2.5 to 3 years to make an anime like that).

They had a pool of possible followers from various projects, they choose 9 of them for DAI in the end when they looked at the clock and saw how many they could put in the game.

* I fail at finding old tweet.

The girl with the quill is "Scribe Girl".  Popular consensus is that she is supporting character, either an agent or personal assistant character (a la Chambers and Traynor in ME).

How about this girl? I think she is bard.

Is there link on his words?

This is the first I've heard of this. Do you have a link? I thought Exalted March was going to use DA2's companions, rather than new ones,

... and from their panel at Gamescom, it sounds like Exalted March intended to use the DA2 companions, not new characters.

I think we need another mage and a rogue, a man and a woman, for balance 3/3/3 classes, 4f/5m.

I guess I'm going for Dorian as mage and an antivan woman as rogue, because Antivan rogues are cool.

Exalted March was supposedly a post DA2 ending story similar to Awakening. All the companions except for Varric can leave you in DA2 ending, for the expansion to work, they would have needed new ones.

I don't know,I kinda have a feeling that she's a leader of one of the organizations that advise the inquisitor I think the same about Leliana as well...

That's not entirely true though, plus there's no indication that Cassandra was ever a templar (she appears to not be addicted to lyrium, for instance).

I mean, having read Asunder, you can see the Seekers aren't really Templars -- they're the guys that rolled into town and took over the Templars.

I think it's possible Cassandra and Cullen would have slightly different loyalties, too. I don't see Cassandra having anything to do with the templars. I think she's devoted to the Divine, utterly. Cullen, meanwhile, while he's been through a hell of a lot, I think he still believes in the Order.

I see Cassandra as being willing to do the Divine's dirty work if it's necessary, whereas Cullen might have more moral scruples about something.

I agree with this.

There is nothing to indicate that Cassandra was ever a Templar (not in the movie and not in any ancillary items). So she wouldn't have Templar abilities.

Honestly, if we get Cullen, I don't see him being pro-Order anymore, just from how he was questioning everything at the end of DAII. I see him being more pro... Templars helping mages support themselves and not so much the whole Templars rounding them all up and locking them away.

Either way, I want him to be a companion, but I would be equally happy with him being a NPC. Too much potential narrative gold mine there with him.

I noticed that Scribe Girl and Cullen are the only two not wielding weapons in the leaked survey art, maybe this is because they are not companions but major NPCs?

Maybe the scribe girl is just an early version of Vivienne?

????because they are both black????

What evidence suggests this at all?

Correct.

In my opionion he looks to old to be the typical human male romance.

Therefore one of two is another human male companion. The question is Cole or Dorian?

That's the Inquisitor.

Maybe the scribe girl is just an early version of Vivienne?

I thing it was Gaider who said that it isn't Vivienne (he was talking about the war room picture).

Gaider confirmed that she and Vivienne are different characters.

Doubt it. The Inquisitor is the rogue on the left... That one looks like the Bearded Warden.

That's what I said. Janus198 was talking about one of the other two companions (inquisitor and Sera) that could be Cole or Dorian.

Yes. Because they are both black. There is only 1 black person in all of Thedas, after all. :)

I just thought they might be the same, since both seem to wear Orlesian`ish outfits. There is no evidence at all. Wich was why I asked if it migt be an early Vivienne concept art.

Vivienne is quite clearly in the middle and scribe girl is on the far left.

Gaider confirmed on tumblr when he commented the War Room concept that the woman in it isn't Vivienne.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I missed that bit. Most likely she is the inquisitor`s scribe then. And not a companion. Kind of like...I forget her name. The chic in ME2, that kept informing Shep about goings on etc.

I followed news of Exalted March pretty closely and never heard anything about this. If they ever talked about new companions in development for Exalted March that got considered for Inquisition, I never read it.

In fact, the one thing David did say was that when they moved some of the expansion's story content into Inquisition, they had to scrap all the parts that had to deal with Hawke and their followers. Are you sure that you didn't just misinterpret the fact that they were rolling over parts of the expansion?

Indeed, Gaider mentioned the DA2 followers. Here's the blog:http://dgaider.tumbl...ut-da2-were-you

Is it confirmed that we will have only 9 companions? I read somewhere that there will be non dlc companion so maybe there will be more of them in the released game.
