Honestly, in the survery pic, the one everyone says is mustache dude...I don't see a mustache...in fact when I first saw it I kinda thought it was another female mage. Do we know pics were linked to character descriptions in the survey?

The names weren't linked to the pictures, no. Though Moustache Guy and Sera are grouped together in the picture section, and Dorian and Sera are in that same order in the text section.

 

It's quite difficult to tell because the resolution is so terrible, but if you zoom out I think the survey version definitely has a dark area where the mouth is. 

 

(There's also a tiny little beard/goatee splotch of colour on his chin. Actually, looking at it again I'm even more convinced that it's the same character as in the War Room art. That facial hair is really distinctive.

Right now I'm a bit conflicted between really wanting Cole as a companion, and my ideal female rogue + male mage combo for the last two slots. Although since both of Gaider's companions are romances and how I find it very unlikely someone other than him will write Cole if he's in the game, it does make Cole's status as a companion doubtful.

 

I don't think Dorian is going to be a companion, though? I would like him to be, and I'm super super interested in the concept of his character from the description we were given, but it doesn't seem very likely to me. Considering how they do have some vague plans to go to Tevinter in a future game, it will make a lot more sense, I think, to save him for that. But mostly, I really don't think he'd have any good reason to get involved in the Inquisition and to decide to follow someone around doing things that have absolutely nothing to do with his reform-the-Tevinter-Imperium goal.

That picture is really old and was taken quite awhile ago. While it is proof that Vivienne and Scribe Girl seemed to never have been the same person, I would not hold much else about it to be written in stone.

I'm cool with Cullen (only) being a major NPC, as long as he's romanceable.

There is also the fact that it has been mentioned that there will be major NPCs that will have large roles and correspondence with your character.  It's possible that picture is just featuring some possible main characters in the game, including companions and NPC.

 

As much as I would like Hunky Bearded Warden and Glorious Mustache Man and even Scribe Girl to be potential companions, I wouldn't keep my hopes up for all of them.

Up until now I am really not impressed by the companions. The iron Bull is fine with me... but what's with Biowares allergie to hair on characters?? Vivienne seems to be nearly bald, Solas is bald,... could we please have one male and one female character each that actually looks nice?

Cassandra looks nice imo. If you want someone with longer hair, than perhaps Sera will be more to your liking.

 

You're kind of right about the men though. I haven't seen a male follower yet who's objectively handsome (except for Varric maybe , but fat chance that he's not romanceable).

I like Cullen, but I have a hard time thinking where his character can really go as a story arc. I expect he will be supporting.

If he is a companion, I kinda see him being the renegade ex-Templar. Someone that would butt heads with Vivienne and Cass because he sees the Circle system as broken because he knows the failings of the current Templars. He has seen the best and worst of both sides and that probably makes him the most capable of discussing it (and having others listen). He was questioning things a lot at the end of Dragon Age II, it would be interesting to see all that fleshed out and see him come to a conclusion. A bit like Wynne in Asunder only his censure would be for the Templars, rather than the mages.

 

I just know I will be terribly disappointed if they waste his Questioning Beliefs(hah, see what I did there?) story lines in Dragon Age II and let him stay stagnant.

Speaking of Cullen.. I was really hoping he'd be back as a companion.. but now I feel shot down after reading some of Greg Ellis' tweets from earlier this year..

Such a tease.. maybe Cullen IS back but not as the Cullen we knew? Maybe he's possessed and mad. I wouldn't even say that's wishful thinking because that would be a terrible idea..

Looks like being a voice actor is a hard life at times, knowing what they do, but they can't jump around like a giddy school girl and tell everyone about it, they have to stay calm and composed and pretend they don't know anything

 

though occasionally one will break, and tell us some stuff, and then get in trouble for it :-(

Yep, and also, as I just posted in the Cullen thread, if Cullen were merely a minor NPC a la Alistair, they wouldn't have GE under such a gag rule. They'd probably advertise that he's in the studio the same way they did SV. But they haven't, which probably means Cullen will be a major player in the game, whether as a companion or an NPC.

I wonder how the Cullen fanbase would react if he wasn't a companion, but  he was a major NPC - whom also just happened to also be a love interest. Similar to Kelly (Kind of), Cortez and Samantha in Mass Effect. It would be an interesting decision IMO, though I'd personally be torn up about it. I'd be disappointed I couldn't take him with me, but also happy that I could still romance my forbidden fruit of Dragon Age... just not in the way I was expecting.
