You were right, the outfit was taken from the survey (I wasfocused on the War room piece).
The artist took inspiration from Bioware, and they worked on Cullen's clothes.
But like I said, we'll see. ![]()

Yes, I did see where David mentioned that, which is why I have been doubting of late. *sigh* Still hoping, though.
I know that I don't want to go back to the 6:3 ratio of Origins. As much as I love Shale, and use a feminine pronoun for her, she is so far the most asexual character in the DA series. She strikes me as beyond gender. She's a golem. So it was more like 6:3:1 (male, female, other.)
Since it is confirmed that we won't know who all the companions are before release, I'm hoping for a nice surprise. And not something like Sebastian. That wasn't a surprise, that was a total disappointment. ![]()
Other than the mage/templar thing, can someone tell me why they like Cullen so much? I mean more power to you, but he kinda seems a little random to latch onto. I never liked him much because he seemed kinda cowardly but I guess he could offer an interesting perspective on the mage/templar mess. Other then that what is it that makes him compelling to you?
I would prefer Manly Older Bearded Warden Guy or another new character I think.

If Cullen is a companion, I imagine he'll be the very last one to be announced. Just to torture us.

I'm not a huge Cullen fan, but that sounds about right. Besides, if he is going to be a companion, it would be the last of the returning cast members (not just companions, but cast like Cassandra) from previous DA games. It'll be a pretty big deal for a lot of folks if he's in the party.
Either that or the DA team will be really evil and make you play the game to find out. Between Master Allen of Sass and Grand Master David, He Who Feasts on Fan Tears, I wouldn't put it past them. ![]()

Personally, I think he's the most attractive NPC in the game (at least in DA2)
I mean, I find his shyness endearing but I get why some might not. Different strokes, right?

*coughs*
Vierralynn has a bunch of awesome meta essays about it.

Same. I want to enter media black out to avoid possible spoilers, but I need to know.
It's very possible he could remain secret. I expect Bioware to keep secret two companions, and ai think that they'll show Beardy, Sera, Solas and IB.
Wouldn't they want to capitalize on Cullen's fanbase? If he's in the game, let the fangirls know. They'll buy the game in droves.

They'll buy the game anyway.

My soul feasts on spoilers, but I think they are going to keep info about Cullen well hidden from us.
@ahellbornlady No, they prefer tortured and weeping fans rather than happy ones. Without tears to power them, BioWare's entire work structure will break down.

Yeah, we happen to be... gamers *gasp*

Er, not entirely true. David has said more than once that the more demanding the fans are for a companion, the less likely he is to include them. Recently, he revealed that the last time he included a character "for the fans" was Oghren in Awakening and he said he isn't doing that again.
Besides, we're a rather small percentage of the game base here in the forums. While I'm sure there is plenty of love outside of here and Tumblr for him, I think you're overestimating his popularity among the more casual fans.
Oh and most of Cullen fans are going to buy the game anyhow. Cullen would be an awesome bonus for them, but not the main reason for their purchase. At least as far as I can tell.

Kirkwall had channels in the sewers to funnel blood sacrifices into some huge underground resevoir. I imagine there's a similar structure beneath Bioware HQ for tears.
Yeah, we happen to be... gamers *gasp*
Funny how we couldn't be Cullen fans without being gamers, but somehow it is always a shock.

He added the caveat that "unless I was already going to" to that. Thank goodness.

I suppose you're right.
I think David mentioned he actually sees more Cullen haters calling his potential inclusion "fanservice" than actual fans.
He added the caveat that "unless I was already going to" to that. Thank goodness.
Good catch and very true. When I asked about Cullen why he's considered "fan service," David stopped by and let me know his take on it. If you give me a little bit to take care of some chores, I can dig up the quote for you. It's really good.
I suppose you're right.
I think David mentioned he actually sees more Cullen haters than fans. People will be upset either way.
Yummy schadenfreude. Tastes like chocolate and leaves cavities in the soul.

People hating on the inclusion of a character they don't like can step to the left. I don't particularly care for some of the Mass Effect squaddies, but I don't take the ****** out of anyone else getting their enjoyment out of the game ((even if the inclusion of one of their characters may have meant that one of mine got the shaft)).
Are these some of the David Gaider quotes you're talking about? Edit: bolded for emphasis
It's like the threads that keep popping up about him. Just about every one starts with "oh god why are there all these threads where crazy fangirls are demanding he be in the next game?"
I don't know what they're referring to. There have been way more threads complaining about fans asking for Cullen than there have ever been threads asking for Cullen...and the threads asking for Cullen are generally the same sort of wistful "wouldn't it be nice if...?" discussions that come up about every other sort of thing that people talk about here in absence of real game info.
Quite frankly, if there ever was a group of fans who I (or anyone else on the DA team) would include something just to make them happy, I think we'd lean more towards the "polite but enthusiastic" than not. Just saying.
Then after someone says Cullen has objectively justifiable reasons to appear in DA:I DG said
Not if you don't like him. If you don't like him then, even if you don't know what the story is, there's no justifiable reason for him to return. If he did, you can already tell he would be boring no matter how he's written.
This is why I stop paying attention to character discussions fairly early on.
Cassandra looks nice imo. If you want someone with longer hair, than perhaps Sera will be more to your liking.
You're kind of right about the men though. I haven't seen a male follower yet who's objectively handsome (except for Varric maybe
, but fat chance that he's not romanceable).
Cassandra is not attractive imo. I liked her in Dawn of the Seeker,... but the model in DA:I is kinda boyish. To much jawbone... not very feminine. As for Sera: Nope. We have already seen her weird haircut... somehow mohican... like those modern ugly undercut haircuts.
I want a companion that looks actually feminine... not "manly woman goes to war".
