There's a way for Petrice to survive DA2? I thought the Qunari always took her out.
Two companion slots left...

You mean, there is a way Petrice makes it through without getting an arrow to the face?
Yeah, you have to have an aggressive dominant tone, then when you meet Varnell when he's torturing the Qunari you have to select the special star option. This guarantees he survival and she goes off and starts an anti-Qunari schism from the Chantry.
And if you're worried this is some weird April Fool's joke, it's not. It's past 12pm where I live so the joke would be on me otherwise.

I always thought that her death was scripted when she tricks Hawke into going into the Chantry to stumble over more dead bodies.

Nope, from the wiki:
If instead Hawke chose to support Ser Varnell earlier, you will have the option to support Petrice and her zealots and Qunari will attack the Kirkwall Chantry. Petrice survives and the murder of Saemus will successfully be pinned on the Qunari, but the Grand Cleric will strip Mother Petrice of her title, saying that she "failed to maintain the solemn dignity" of her position. Later, after you leave the Chantry, Petrice will tell you that if you ever need her support, she will be there to aid you.
If Petrice survives the events of act 2 Hawke can meet her in the chantry during act 3. In conversation she reveals that she no longer holds a title of "Mother", and is preparing to gather support for a schism within the Chantry.
And because I like this quote from her:
"We all have our strengths to exploit, mine is finding like-minded people. There are many disappointed with the Chantry. One day, we will be called to act. Schism, Serah Hawke, it is inevitable."

I just played through DA2 and once again made sure Petrice lived, we agreed to cooperate in the future.

Interesting. Of course, that is assuming that she survived the Chantry going boom.

Oh if she doesn't I am going to be so pissed. Why can't she help make life difficult for my Inquisitors?!

Interesting, I'd never tried that route. I can't honestly say I will likely do it in the future. I get too emotionally attached to my story choices and usually end up making the same ones. lol

I tend to just make mine aggressive in Act 2, a made bitter by the experiences in the Deep Roads thing. Act 1 Aggressive Hawke comes across as a brat, in my opinion, and Act 3 Aggressive Hawke just seems like a monster.

I was planning a Diplo Act I Hawke, with a smattering of snark and aggressive Act II, with a full blown "GO F YOURSELVES" Hawke in Act III one of these days.

I think that one of them are atleast DHMG, why?
1: the survey (not "real" information, but that's what we base Cullen on right?)
2: All the concept art that may or may not be him;

So for me that pushes Cullen out the door, thanks to the male/female ratio (if that's even a thing).
But that's just my speculation ![]()

To be honest, I think Cullen and Cole are both still more likely from what we know than another female.

I wouldn't necessarily bet on an equal male-female ratio
DA1 - 6:3 (in favour of males, excluding Shale who identifies as neither)
DA2 - 5:4 (in favour of males)
So who knows. There's a fair few significant female NPCs that'll satisfy me if we end up with the same 6:3 ratio as Dragon Age origins.

In my opinion, Bioware doesn't necessarily care as much as the fanbase about " ratio ". ( whether about gender or classes ) They are more interested to bring characters they want to write, and feel it's better or relevant for the story they are going to tell.

Dramatic Hands is almost certainly the eighth companion, IMO, and I still think Cole is very likely too.
We haven't seen any plausible female characters in any of the concept art, there are only two slots left, and we already have at least three or four other characters that could fill those places. I just don't think they're going to pull someone out of a hat at this point. There have been way too many concept art shots of the Inquisitor with a party, and the companion roster is practically full as it is.
I don't see any reason why Bioware would be actively hiding another female character - I mean, they've "revealed" Sera, the Iron Bull, the Grey Warden, Dramatic Hands and Solas through concept art ages before they're prepared to name them publicly or speak about them in detail. Why would one particular character be so secret and different?

I'm telling you guys, some of the one's from the survey are out. Gaider basically said as much in some of his comments on the subject.
Sura, Iron Bull, Cass and Grey Warden were all in the survey and are all (pretty much) confirmed but so was Cullen, Cole, Dorian, Scribe girl and the spear/trident guy who grew a mustache and who could just be Dorian.
They were all either mentioned or depicted in the survey but aren't confirmed. I think Scribe was confirmed as not a companion by a dev wasn't she? If not she doesn't seem like one anyway.
Cullen well idk I think he is still possible and the devs could just be keeping him as a surprise for the Cullen fans.
I think they decided against Cole, most of the stuff about him seems to be based on the wishes of fans who want him as a companion. There has been nothing since the survey to even hint at him.
I have no idea about this Mustache guy but I was pretty sure Dorian was also out, in fact I thought he didn't exist anymore because Gaider said that some of the characters in the survey might not. Now I am not so sure, I guess the Mustache guy could be Dorian or he could be someone else.
Also I know Bioware doesn't do balance but 3 women and 6 men? I would think there would at least be one other female but I guess there is no reason to think that atm.

Well someone is being kept kinda secret aren't they? Sure we have seen allot of people in concept art but they aren't all companions and many of them have not been depicted as actually in the party,

Yep, we've been told that characters from the leaked survey were not set in stone, and that characters seen in the leaked survey/concept art were not necessarily companions.....that they could be Agents for the Inquisitor....(which is what I think Leliana, Scribe Girl, and Cullen will be).

If Cullen's not a companion his fans might start a forum wide riot that dwarfs the BSN's Great Miranda Schism and cause multiple sections to be shutdown.
