I ain't buy these Cole rumours. I think Gaider's right, Cole's just a kid and has to grow up mentally to be a companion and LI. But he might appear in DA4-5-6, five or ten or twenty years later.

 

Not a bad list and I fully agree with you about Cole.

 

Edit: I wanted to add that while David Gaider did not say one way or the other if Cole was fit to be a companion, I do agree with your opinion.

 

Besides, didn't David or Mike confirm that not all of the pictures from the leaked survey were companions?

 

You did forget about the Bearded Warden though.

Cole would be too OP. They would have to nerf his powers so he doesn't become a gamebreaker.

I think that would be pretty easy to implement, though. They would likely just have his "invisibility" be a skill with a % chance to stay hidden until attack. Game play is usually pretty distantly separated from story.

Since Cullen is now confirmed that leaves Cole as our possible "cut from the survey" companion. Everyone else IN the survey has been seen in concept art since and SG and DHMG are likely to be another adviser and/or our third mage.

 

I don't think we are getting Cole as a companion.

LadyInsanity does a lot of DA Talk videos on YouTube. She covers mostly exactly what is covered from official sources (doesn't add in much speculation from sources OUTSIDE bioware, not even mags and it always very careful to note when she is speaking from her own opinion and not from a source). She has kinda made it her thing to go most Bioware convention appearances so that she can share first hand exactly what Bioware said.

and being a LI, I just forgot to mention that.

Sure, Cullen might be non-companion LI but sum up all we know about him for the moment... I really doubt that. And we did get some concept arts with him, too.

 

But I have to admit, the vid and that 'Inquisition drinking in the tavern' pic are strong evidences for Bearded Warden tho.

I didn't say it was. It is still a branch that STEMS from the Seekers and Templars. They just got absorbed into the Seekers when they decided to fold into the Chantry. So says the World of Thedas. They were supposed to be a branch that served as a check and balance between the Templars and the Seekers before the the Templar/Seeker Order decided to defer to the Chantry and the Divine instead.

 

And alpha stuff of DA:O had Daveth and Jowan as a companion, didn't it?

 

Nine companions has been on the website for a while now and we have no reason to believe it's changed.  Once they promise nine companions, they're hardly going to scrap someone aren't they?

 

However, what you're saying about Cullen being a companion is a lot more interesting.  Could you link?

Well I am a 'Cullenite' and I badly want Cullen in a companion slot. However there is strong evidence in support of both IB and Beardy for a companion warrior space (Cass is given) and we only have 9 possible companions Ina 3-3-3 split. Historically being a LI would be enough to confirm companion status but as has been pointed out this may no longer be the case, although Bioware has provided no direct evidence of non companion romances.

So we've either got a companion warrior wrong or the class of one of the 4 proposed warriors is actually a rogue or Cullen's an NPC romance and everyone else is in (or the 3-3-3 splits misinformation) and I don't think there is any way we can know which one of those options is correct at this point, so pick your favourite and run with it!

I'm actually glad that we don't know all the companions and we won't until launch.  My only concern with a female rogue is that she'll be a polar opposite to Sera: Super dark and broody with a tragic past that haunts her every step.   If anyone has played the Demon Hunter in Diablo 3, I mean like that.  Like it would break her face to crack a smile.

 

I don't want all my companions "happy go lucky" and always loving life, but I also want someone that handles their past better than some of the previous companions have.
