Basically, we're down to either Cullen or Grey Warden to be out as a companion.

We have Greg Warden in pre-alpha party gameplay already and we had armor customization concept art of him for ages too...

I think Cullen is out. He doesn't appear in any concept art besides the War Room, plus why would the devs be so secretive if he's just a companion?

The only thing making me wonder about Cullen is that some people that were at PAX think they heard them say LI and companion. I guess we just have to wait until a full video gets put up to see what they really said.

He and other devs that post here also said that they aren't on page with marketing and didn't necessarily know what was going on with the survey, which is supposedly why they didn't even know it was real at first.

That doesn't make any sense. As soon as they saw the concept art and plot/character descriptions they would have known it was real. They said it was fake because they wanted us to think it was fake.

It is the Inquisitor, there is another screenshot where you can see him, weapon sheathed, in from of Solar and Cassandra. He is also wearing the dragon helm.

An Inquisitor, I think. There's no other Inquisitors in that set of screenshots.

Companions arent locked in a single weapon specialization like they were in DA2, they can use all weapons eligable to their class like in DAO, with maybe Varric as the only exception

Cole has the most interesting premise of any of the companions, confirmed or rumored, so I hope he's in.

They said even Varric could be a dual wielder if equipped, but you can't take Bianca out of his inventory.

I really, REALLY want that 3/3/3 split...

I'm still holding out hope that Cole is our third rogue, due to my own love of the character and my belief that his presence would make for some really interesting story threads. But, as I'm now thinking our chances are pretty slim, I would prefer another female rogue companion if possible. Failing that, we're probably stuck with just Sera and Varric. Oh, the horror, however shall I entertain myself with only my favorite snarky dwarf and my tequila-and-skittles elven archer for company?

 

I like Cullen just fine, really I do, and I will most certainly not be complaining at all if he is a companion, not a counselor NPC, and the 3/3/3 split isn't a thing. But with regard to him as a character I'm a little more muted in my appreciation, as I would be far more invested in, say, the possible inclusion of Dramatic Hands Mustache Guy Who May Actually Be Dorian You Don't Know For Sure Hey I Can Dream Leave Me To My Delusions.

... That... is what we're calling him nowadays, right...?

 

Honestly, though? I'd probably be okay with any incarnation of the theorized final party roster that I've been seeing around here. I have a healthy amount of like for basically every suggestion.

Whether Cole is the rogue filler or not, 3/3/3 is basically a sure bet at this point. I honestly don't see the semantic arguments against it panning out. We're almost certainly getting the 3/3/3 class balance.
