Solas - Dalish?/Apostate POV
DHMG/Dorian? - Good Tevinter Magister? POV

Varric - Legacy DA2 companion

Cole? - Spirit POV

Am I missing anything?

Sounds good, the only thing I'm unsure of is Solas, because he doesn't have the face tattoos of the Dalish. They pick a tattoo as a coming of age thing, which represents a god they relate to. It's possible he was Dalish and somehow separated from his tribe young, though? He looks Dalish other than the tattoos.

Yeah I wasn't sure whether he was Dalish or not as well, that's why I added the question mark :)

I read everything after the Litany revealed his true identity differently than you did, I guess. =\

Perhaps we shouldn't dismiss what Rhys says during the climax.  I think it was probably an important point...

It seems possible that Solas might be something LIKE Felassen, whether he is Felassen, or not. He might be an ancient elf, or he might be connected to Fen'Harel in the fade, being called a "fade expert" before. He might have the same sort of information that Felassen had. With the Eluvians and Arlathan being a part of DA:I, it would absolutely make sense to have someone like that to give us some insight.

These theories have put Solas up there with Cole as my favorite possible concepts. Now probably Cole wont be in and Solas's concept will be way simpler than this. That would figure. lol

Probably (and hopefully) not.

With the amount of evidence behind 3 other warriors and the confirmed 3/3/3 split, Cullen is very unlikely to be a companion.

uote name="erilben" post="16413815" timestamp="1397436398"]How do people know the survey said anything about companions? I don't see "companion" anywhere on the screenshots of the survey.[/quote]

The people who took the survey way back in August 2012 mentioned that the character bios section referred to them as companions, I believe.

(And two of them are now confirmed companions

I always liked the theory that Solas was a reawakened ancient elf, but that's a bit too close to Javik to be plausible. Plus I don't think those elves shared his unique fashion sense.

Now I'm thinking he's just an apostate with expert knowledge on the Fade, maybe an escapee from one of the rebelling Circles.

I'm really hoping for an equal ratio of classes.

If anything, I want another dwarf companion. Only having Varric as the dwarf companion for two games in a row is nice, but I really want more. Another dwarf rogue would be great, and then having Rhys as a mage... would make me happy enough.

Of all the Asunder characters, it'd make the most sense for Rhys to join the Inquisitor as a companion, seeing how his tale in the novel ended.

hm...

Another dwarf (female if possible, because we only ever have had 1 female dwarf companion in DA:A - all others (Varric, Oghren) were male and with Varric returnin, it would be time for another femal I think!) would be nice...

but Rhys? - No way, sorry, but for me he is too much of a whimp (he needed bloody murder happening at the mages conclave in order to be convinced to stand up for mage rights, he was always shying away from a pro-mage possition before (just like his mother IMHO - the mages conclave had to be attacked right in front of her to make her take action (!)...pathetic if you ask me!)

i would much rather have the mage leader grand-enchanter Fiona in my party :)

greetings LAX

Well, we know that Cullen is out so that's definitely not our companion line up.  If DHMG is a mage, that would still leave a spot open for a rogue.  Some people think it's going to go to Cole, which wouldn't fix the gender ratio, but others think it's going to be a previously unseen female rogue dual wielder (even though we can customize companion battle styles).

To take a wild hypothetical, if the (tentative, theoretical, totally unconfirmed) advisors have roughly as much content as the companions, Leliana plus Scribe Lady would make the ratio of major characters 5 women to 7 men. (And if Cole has been replaced by Unnamed Female Rogue, it'd be 6:6)

Then there's the Empress Celene, Briala, the Divine... Morrigan herself has been said to play a significant role.

I'm not defending Bioware if the total does turn out to be 6:3 in the party (it's a bit mystifying and I don't see how a predominantly male party is justified), but there are other major female characters in the game.

We should also keep in mind that Origins only had three women not counting Shale, and DA2 between three or four. Gender parity or something near to it hasn't really been a part of the series to date.

It was in DA2, Bioware keeps going on about equality, but having a 6:3 gender ratio would really suck.

Only in certain DA 2 playthroughs, though.  A male mage Hawke had 8 companions and only three were females.  It was a 5:3 ratio, which isn't that far off from the proposed 6:3 ratio in DA: I.

No, since Sebastian only comes in Act 2 where Carver leaves, so that's a 4:3 for most of the game.

I don't agree with 6:3, but I'm saying the games have never had more than four female companions in the party at the same time.

In both Origins and DA2, the base number was three women. Only under certain circumstances in DA2 were there four with Bethany, and she was absent from a significant chunk of the game regardless.

How does that matter?  In DA: O, there is at least one character who you can't recruit until about 1/2 way through the game since you need to get through at least two of the three treaties sections before you can get everyone.  Doesn't mean that you don't count that character in the tally.

It not about the absolute number, it's about the ratio.

I wouldn't want 4 females in a game with 4 companions; I would like 2 of each...but with 9 companions, I would certainly like at least 4 females.
